“Burgundy: Twisted Roots” earns 5/5 Glasses of Burgundy…À Votre Santé!

I eagerly started Janet Hubbard’s Vengeance in the Vineyard Mystery series with “Burgundy: Twisted Roots,” the third book released in September 2017, and having read the synopses and reviews for the first two books and the backstory and character connections revisited in the third, I did not have that newbie handicap. Janet starts off with a difficult family issue: Max and her mother Juliette, and her not-so-eager father

This book started off well, but unfortunately got a little mixed up as I read, too much going on and hard to connect or flow. It also harks back on previous books which I found rather annoying. It is a stand-alone book but....

I completely failed to connect with any of the characters.

At the time I requested this for reviewing, I didn't realise that this was the third in a series, which may have contributed to the lack of connection - ie: coming too late to the party (and not for the first time).

Maybe when releasing books in a series for review, it might be apt to state that it is XX in a series - then this gives the reader the chance to either jump in or pass.

I won a copy of this book.

This is another book that I hadn't realized was part of a series. It's fine because I was able to follow along. It does talk about the previous books so if you have the time, read the first 2 books before getting this one.
