I picked this book because it had pirate in the title. For some reason, I love books with pirates (thank you Johnny Depp!). I immediately think adventure, the high seas, danger, and intrigue. This had some of them but, overall, it ended up being just ok. First, the characters I loved: Harvey and Bernard! Those two made the book for me. They were funny together and provided the laughs. Fortunate to have received an advance copy of 'Pirate Heiress' to read and provide an honest review, I greatly enjoyed reading this book. It is the first pirate story I have read in a very long time, and as a romance and a sailing adventure, it was a blissful breeze to read.

As far as Captain Conal O’Brien is concerned, women are silly, helpless creatures whose emotions make them weak. They are also unworthy of his trust – a fact more than verified by the female brigand aiming a pistol at him. He could easily turn the tables on her, since he’s a man who hates to be bested, but in spite of her fear, she stands her ground and that intrigues him. When he learns tat he and his ship are destined to be turned over to his sworn enemy, he complies. Tired of pretending to be a ruthless and unsavory pirate, Drago Gampo is really a French privateer. He has searched for her for two decades, and by holding the Sauvage children captive, he will finally learn what happened to her. But his plan doesn’t take into account how the presence of the twins will impact him and his life.

This fourth tale of the Pirates & Petticoats series takes place in the summer of 1811 and interwoven into it are letters from Anne Bonny to her father from March 1718 to March 1729. They are discovered by Stevie’s family after the fire and provide clues to a treasure Anne and Mary Read buried before their capture and conviction in 1720. These letters recount a plausible version of Anne’s life because of the evidentiary gaps in historical documents and the rumors of what happened to her after her imprisonment. That Mary Read escaped as well is less believable since parish records in Jamaica provide her death date and burial place. The unfolding romance between Stevie and Conal provides intriguing counterpoints to the story’s more dangerous elements, several of which are heart-stopping. But Stevie’s sister steals the limelight from the heroine and hero. Jacqueline dares to challenge Drago more than once, and her persistent querying unearths what the adults ignore. Her cheeky humor and eager goading make the reader smile and identify with the eight year old. Pirate Heiress is populated with memorable characters and sure to please readers who enjoy historical romance spiced with swashbuckling adventure.

A Pirate Heiress was packed with lots of pirate adventure on the high seas, folks. Having not read the previous books, I was glad to discover this was a stand-alone with it’s own unique romantic storyline. Otherwise, this NetGalley reviewer would likely have been completely lost. You see, books 1 - 3 appear to have been focused on a different main couple, Keeland and Landon. Btw, at the time I wrote this review all three of those books can be purchased as a boxed set.

Captain Colan and Stephanie’s (nicknamed Stevie) unfolding relationship mostly felt like a subplot next to the various subplots (trying to rescue her twin 8 year old siblings, searching for a much needed family treasure, Stevie’s family taking over Colan’s ship, and Captain Drago’s complicated vendetta against Colan and his employer). With some twists and turns, it is revealed things and people were not actually what they were thought to be, btw. After a rather lengthy plot that covered all the bases, there wasn’t a lot of time left for the romantic storyline between the main couple. But, fortunately, there was just enough to make you very happy to see these likable lovebirds get their HEA.

Ms. Flowers did a good job with character development and kept the story flowing. Since I’m more about romance, I do have to admit I skimmed over parts near the end to get to the HEA. If you like a book heavy on high sea adventure with an underlying romantic theme, you will likely really enjoy this one.

I've been finding a lot of wonderful new-to-me authors lately and Chloe Flowers is one of them. This is also my first pirate novel and I wasn't disappointed.

This is a stand-alone story by this author, although some of the characters in her Hart saga appear in this pirate romance. I just gave it away, didn’t I? It’s a super duper pirate romance and I loved it! OUR HERO is probably the most decent character development in this story...not that the others were lacking...but I just liked him better than the rest. The opening of the story was intriguing, I mean...a naked Captain caught in his bathtub at gunpoint from a brave heroine in disguise. Pages after that...it just fell into a bit of a snooze-ville. The plot itself was a little dull and lame, I mean it didn't pique my interest at all. Only the Captain caught my attention but I only wished he had a better heroine to play along with in this story. When his ship and crew becomes so-called hostages to the heroine's family, he has no choice but to be swept along in their wayward plan to rescue the heroine's kidnapped twin siblings. Obviously Conal was unwilling at first and maybe quite annoyed with the way things turned out...until he meets the little rabbit, which in my opinion...their romance development was cut to the chase starting with passionate, sweaty sex in his bed. Conal's a man who takes initiative, he's smart and also cautious...making him quite a character to read about.

OUR HEROINE lacked certain characteristics that I'd rather she had to make her more kick-ass, although for a kitchen maid turned private and thief...she's doing a rather good job of it, despite her constant fear and inabilities such as shooting a gun well or fighting. There is definitely growth in Stevie's persona...from a frightened rabbit to a roaring tigress (but not THAT much). She's often doubting herself in terms of relationship, and mind you she's no virginal miss after getting duped and heartbroken by a swindler. Her family's out to make a change in their lives - treasure hunting for their ancestor's buried treasure. Along the way, their boat was caught in a crossfire between Conal and the enemy, and for some reason Stevie's twin siblings became captive to the infamous Gampo. In order to save them, her family has to bring Conal's fleet to Gampo. That's pretty much the story in a nutshell. Sometimes Stevie appears too timid for my taste, and her ideas while may be great...are pretty risky bordering on silly.

OVERALL I frankly cannot say this was AMAZING. It was filled with quite a bit of humour and plotting...but no thanks. I WANT ROMANCE! And this one didn't deliver enough to satisfy....it was quite bland. ...more

I was intrigued by the blurb, and by the time I had read the first chapter I knew this book was a keeper. With mesmerising prose and a storyline that I simply adored, Pirate Heiress has all the makings for a great read.

I loved the characterisation of Stevie. Stevie is thrown into a man's world — a pirates world— and she has to learn very quickly how to stay alive. What she did not expect to find was love with Captain Conal O’Brien, especially after she and her family took control of his ship! The romance between the two is a steady build which simmers and then explodes into one heck of a storm that neither Stevie or Conel will ever recover from! Totally believable and very romantic! Love, Love, Loved it!!

It seems a strange thing to say, but I really liked the antagonist of this novel. Drago Viteri Gamponetti has his own back story, which takes nothing away from the protagonists but kept me interested and turning those pages. I wanted to dislike him but found that I could not, for he is, despite the whole kidnapping incident, a nice man.

This storyline itself was well thought out and engaging. I have read a fair few "pirate romances," and I have to say that Pirate Heiress is up there with the best. FANTASTIC READ!!

I thoroughly enjoyed Pirates Heiress, and I look forward to reading more books from this author. Well done, Chloe Flowers!

This fourth book in the Pirates and Petticoats series can be read without having read the first three, but this reader wouldn't suggest it. This reader has previously read the first one (Hart's Desire) so had an inkling of some of the past events, but there were still events that must have occurred in novels two and three that were unfamiliar to this reader and made for a few 'what-is-going-on moments' and 'okay-now-I-get-it moments.' (Ironically, this reader actually has purchased the e-book bundle 1-3 to read prior to reading this one, but then decided (after reading the synopsis) it was possible to figure it out as it seemed unrelated to the others, sort of...and would read Hart's Passion and Hart's Reward some time in the future, but I digress.)

Following the lead of letters written by the pirate Anne Bonny, the family sets out to find the treasure they believe she left for her heirs to find (each chapter is prefaced with a letter Anne has written to her father).

Think Pirates of the Caribbean in book form...there is humor and betrayals, kidnappings and mayhem, but a pretty clean romance as it isn't too graphic...basically lots going on, yet it concludes the series well (and even with a tease for another series).

4.5 stars actually as there are quite a few typos and formatting errors. Could use another look or two during proofing, but not so egregious as to ruin the story.

The overall book is fun, funny, and full of action and adventure. The Sauvage family is large and noisy and, while a bit confusing about who is a sibling and who is a cousin, they clearly love each other and work together for common goals. This book is well written. Sentence structure, dialogue, etc, is very good. I love the author's style. But the rest of the book is a let-down.

The romance is very underdeveloped. There are also lines like these below that don't sit well with me:

"A realization of what, he didn’t quite know, but it wasn’t anything he’d ever felt when tupping a wench while at port, so it was different from the simple sexual urge to couple with her, although the urge existed."

This was a new author for me. I read Book Four first, because it could be read as a standalone; however, I enjoyed the story so much that I am going to go back and start reading this series from the beginning.

This book has a kidnapping, the search for a long lost sister, pirate ship battles, a treasure hunt and romance. The story was very well written and very complex. The Sauvage family had a gaming house and a boarding house in New Orleans. They were a close knit family who did well . A kitchen accident in the boardng house caused both houses to burn to the ground. This pirate bok is unusual because each chapter begins with a letter from Ann Bonny who was a woman pirate almost 100 years ago left a marble box and letters with the whereabouts of a treasure that she had hid. This was a fast paced story full of action and adventure. Most of the action takes place on various ships and an island. There is plenty of action, including a treasure hunt that is linked to their ancestor, Anne Bonny, a pirate, through her letters written a hundred years ago. I enjoyed the story because I fell in love with Conal O'Brien's character in the previous books and I was really happy he got his match in Stevie, I really like her. Pirate Heiress is a high seas adventure with pirates, kidnapping for ransom, a search for hidden family treasure and romance with a HEA. What more could you ask for in a historical romance.

It is well written and holds your interest. It does have a lot of twists and turns, so it may seem a bit confusing. Even though it is part of a series this book is standalone. It has a couple of steamy scenes. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a pirate adventure with some romance.

See, Book 1 (Keeland & Landon), Book 2 - Hart’s Passion,(Keeland & Landon..continued),Book 3 - Hart’s Reward, (Keeland & Landon..conclusion), Book 4 - Pirate Heiress, (Conal & Stephanie - aka Stevie).

This is Captain Colan and Stephanie Savauge's (aka Stevie) story. Their story is a complicated, but an unfolding relationship. A multifaceted story were they are trying to rescue Stevie's twin 8 year old siblings, who have been kidnapped for ranson, for a merchant ship called the Seeker, which is owned by Stevie's family, (part of the Ahern merchant, fleet of ships), a quest to find a supposed hidden family treasure, which is definitely needed, Colan’s ship gets taken over by Stevie's family, and then there is, the famous and dreaded, French-Italian -born, privateer, Captain Drago Viterbo Gamponetti aka Gampo, who complicates things with his vendetta against Colan and his employer, the Ahern merchant fleet, which he has coveted for years and intends to have, at all cost. However, things aren't always as they appear. Whew, did you get all that? Many layers to this story, so you do have to keep up.
Some of this story takes place on the High Seas, thete is a sea battle, some takes place in Jamica.

Well written, steady paced with high sea adventure, mystery, suspense, intrigue, pirates, privateers, a quest for a hidden treasure and romance. There are many twists and turns in this story, to be sure, some are totally unexpected.
Overall a great story of family loyalty, romance, love with a possible HEA. Or will will Colan and Stevie lose all to the dreaded Captain Gampo?

Ms. Flowers has a uniqueness about her stories, that captures your heart and holds your interest. Her stories appear to be well researched and is brillantly and masterfully delivered to her readers.
Fans of family saga, high sea adventure, pirates, privateers, romance on the seas and a high adventure, are sure to enjoy "Pirate Heiress". A sweeping high sea adventure, filled with many twists and turns! Could be a bit confusing to some readers, I think, I certainly had to keep up with the who, what and whens, while reading this story. Overall, a great Pirate Romance Saga!

A Pirate Heiress was packed with lots of pirate adventure on the high seas, folks. Having not read the previous books, I was glad to discover this was a stand-alone with it’s own unique romantic storyline. Otherwise, this NetGalley reviewer would likely have been completely lost. You see, books 1 - 3 appear to have been focused on a different main couple, Keeland and Landon. Btw, at the time I wrote this review all three of those books can be purchased as a boxed set.

Captain Colan and Stephanie’s (nicknamed Stevie) unfolding relationship mostly felt like a subplot next to the various subplots (trying to rescue her twin 8 year old siblings, searching for a much needed family treasure, Stevie’s family taking over Colan’s ship, and Captain Drago’s complicated vendetta against Colan and his employer). With some twists and turns, it is revealed things and people were not actually what they were thought to be, btw. After a rather lengthy plot that covered all the bases, there wasn’t a lot of time left for the romantic storyline between the main couple. But, fortunately, there was just enough to make you very happy to see these likable lovebirds get their HEA.

Ms. Flowers did a good job with character development and kept the story flowing. Since I’m more about romance, I do have to admit I skimmed over parts near the end to get to the HEA. If you like a book heavy on high sea adventure with an underlying romantic theme, you will likely really enjoy this one.

The most pressing thing on Stevie Sauvage’s mind is how she is going rescue her twin siblings from the evil minded Captain Gampo who is holding them hostage. Her and her families only avenue is doing Captain Gampo’s bidding, which is to capture the sea going pirate clan of the O’Brien’s, in particular Captain Conal O’Brien and his ship the Seeker. Stevie has little to no experience, nor the pluck, to carry this plan out. But she must or her family is lost.

First, let me begin by saying that while I understand sometimes writers must suspend logic to create drama and suspense, this book far surpassed a reasonable suspension of belief. This will contain spoilers, so be warned.
