On the other hand, although I bought the Kindle bundle of books 1-3, I haven't read 2 and 3 yet (the first one I had previously read, but it was cheaper to buy the bundle than the individual books). I had planned to read them first, but finally decided since I had also won a copy, I thought it took precedence. Long story short, go ahead and read it. What few references there are will not affect your reading of it. (less)

Received to read for this year's NERFA contest. I liked it pretty well, and am interested in trying the others on the series. Full review later.

I picked this book because it had pirate in the title. For some reason, I love books with pirates (thank you Johnny Depp!). I immediately think adventure, the high seas, danger, and intrigue. This had some of them but, overall, it ended up being just ok. First, the characters I loved: Harvey and Bernard! Those two made the book for me. They were funny together and provided the laughs. I wouldn’t mind if there was a book with those two. I also loved the twins. They were cute and I liked the relat ...more

'Pirate Heiress' by Chloe Flowers is book four in the "A Pirates & Petticoats" series. This is the story of Stevie Savauge and Captain Conal O’Brien. Fortunate to have received an advance copy of 'Pirate Heiress' to read and provide an honest review, I greatly enjoyed reading this book. It is the first pirate story I have read in a very long time, and as a romance and a sailing adventure, it was a blissful breeze to read.

The romantic feelings and interludes between the hero and heroine of this story were well written, without any need for coarse language or explicitness. In addition, the supporting characters have layers that are slowly peel

It is her fault! At least that’s what Stevie Sauvage believes. She causes the fire that burns her family’s hotel and gaming parlor to the ground, forcing her family to search for the treasure her great-great grandmother buried. The voyage results in their vessel being caught between a vengeful pirate and a stubborn merchant captain, which leads to her eight-year-old twin siblings being kidnapped and turning her and the rest of her family into pirates to gain the children’s ransom within one mont ...more

A Pirate Heiress was packed with lots of pirate adventure on the high seas, folks. Having not read the previous books, I was glad to discover this was a stand-alone with it’s own unique romantic storyline. Otherwise, this NetGalley reviewer would likely have been completely lost. You see, books 1 - 3 appear to have been focused on a different main couple, Keeland and Landon. Btw, at the time I wrote this review all three of those books can be purchased as a boxed set.

I've been finding a lot of wonderful new-to-me authors lately and Chloe Flowers is one of them. This is also my first pirate novel and I wasn't disappointed.
Conal O'Brien is the captain of The Seeker, a merchant ship in the Ahern Merchant Fleet. He is wildly handsome and charming to boot. I, as well as Stevie, fell in love with him almost immediately. Stevie Sauvage and her family take possession of his ship in order to appease her twin brother and sisters kidnapper. They must deliver

This is a stand-alone story by this author, although some of the characters in her Hart saga appear in this pirate romance. I just gave it away, didn’t I? It’s a super duper pirate romance and I loved it! As in the Hart saga, there are a couple of old mysteries to be solved, some with written clues and some with innuendo and family histories, but the mysteries add to the spice in this adventure story. It is also a story about family and the love between its members as they fight danger, kidnappi ...more

IT PAINS ME TO RATE A BOOK SO LOWLY, BUT MAYBE IT'S JUST ME AND MY OPINIONS BUT IT WASN'T CAPTIVATING AT ALL.

THE CHARACTERS WERE SO-SO, THE PLOT WAS OVERLY DRAWN OUT...AND WAS THERE ROMANCE? WELL, IT WAS VERY LUKEWARM THAT I DIDN'T FEEL ANY CONNECTION AT ALL. SEX? YES, THERE WAS PLENTY OF THAT...BUT THE EMOTIONAL CONNECTION JUST DIDN'T FEEL REAL.

OUR HERO is probably the most decent character development in this story...not that the others were lacking...but I just liked him better than the rest.

Full disclosure: I received this novel through a Goodreads First Reads giveaway, thanks to the author, but that in no way affects this review. (read the paperback, not the e-book edition)

Mixing pirates, intrigue, treasure, and swashbuckling with romance, Flowers presents a historical romance between a 'pirate' Stevie Savauge and Conal O'Brien, the captain of his ship, the Seeker.

The family Savauge, of whom Stevie is just one member, hijacks Conal's boat and demands (at the point of a gun) he he

A fire, a kidnapping, a treasure hunt, a romance and pirates — what was not to like about Pirate Heiress?

If it weren't for Stevie Savauge and the whole catching the kitchen and then the rest of the building on fire incident, her family would still have a home, and her family would not have gone on a quest to find a secret treasure hidden by her Great Great Grandparents — which subsequently led to the capture of her eight-year-old siblings. Now the kidnapper is demanding that they deliver him a s

I found this book through a goodreads giveaway that I did not win. So, imagine my surprise when I found it on netgalley! I received a free ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The overall book is fun, funny, and full of action and adventure. The Sauvage family is large and noisy and, while a bit confusing about who is a sibling and who is a cousin, they clearly love each other and work together for common goals. Conal and his crew are also charming and it is fun to watch how they two gr

This book is well written. Sentence structure, dialogue, etc, is very good. I love the author's style. But the rest of the book is a let-down.

The romance is very underdeveloped. There are also lines like these below that don't sit well with me:

"A realization of what, he didn’t quite know, but it wasn’t anything he’d ever felt when tupping a wench while at port, so it was different from the simple sexual urge to couple with her, although the urge existed."

"One minute he was ready to

The Sauvage family had a gaming house and a boarding house in New Orleans. They were a close knit family who did well . A kitchen accident in the boardng house caused both houses to burn to the ground. This pirate bok is unusual because each chapter begins with a letter from Ann Bonny who was a woman pirate almost 100 years ago left a marble box and letters with the whereabouts of a treasure that she had hid. Several emeralds were in the box to pay for them to get a start. Stevie dressed like a ...more

This was a new author for me. I read Book Four first, because it could be read as a standalone; however, I enjoyed the story so much that I am going to go back and start reading this series from the beginning.

This book has a kidnapping, the search for a long lost sister, pirate ship battles, a treasure hunt and romance. The story was very well written and very complex. You will meet the bad guy and then wonder why you like him seeing as how he is the bad guy. The story has a few very nice twists

This was a fast paced story full of action and adventure. Most of the action takes place on various ships and an island. There is plenty of action, including a treasure hunt that is linked to their ancestor, Anne Bonny, a pirate, through her letters written a hundred years ago. There is also battle at sea and a budding romance. The family connections are very important in this storyline. The young twins, Jacqueline and Julian were delightful. I hadn’t read any of the previous titles but it didn’ ...more

HEA Pirate Abduction Romance

I enjoyed the story because I fell in love with Conal O'Brien's character in the previous books and I was really happy he got his match in Stevie, I really like her. However, I found it a little hard to swallow that a bumbling family that burned down their own gambling hall and hotel could steal a merchant ship from a under a competent captains nose with him aboard and the story goes on. The story was entertaining, though far spun. Good entertainment for an easy and h

Pirate Heiress is a high seas adventure with pirates, kidnapping for ransom, a search for hidden family treasure and romance with a HEA. What more could you ask for in a historical romance.

It is well written and holds your interest. It does have a lot of twists and turns, so it may seem a bit confusing. Even though it is part of a series this book is standalone. It has a couple of steamy scenes. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a pirate adventure with some romance.

The most pressing thing on Stevie Sauvage’s mind is how she is going rescue her twin siblings from the evil minded Captain Gampo who is holding them hostage. Her and her families only avenue is doing Captain Gampo’s bidding, which is to capture the sea going pirate clan of the O’Brien’s, in particular Captain Conal O’Brien and his ship the Seeker. Stevie has little to no experience, nor the pluck, to carry this plan out. But she must or her family is lost.
