Yes, its a gimic, but I like it. As the story of a sunflower is told, a flower unfolds.

I used it to entice a young boy to listen to a story at PJ storytime tonight and ended up with 5 children listening. 5/22/12

Used it for a lap time and the parents were quite taken with it. 5/13/14

Alexander was quite taken with this at PJ Story Time and kept going back to it.
A fun book but I couldn't quite get the proper sing-songy tone while reading and haven't mastered the art of holding the enormous and rather unwieldy sunflower open to the crowd.

How does a sunflower seed grow? You open out the pages as each stage in the life-cycle unfolds. Encourages youngsters to grow a sunflower from seed. Bright & colourful board book, only negative I would say if you can call it a negative is that I think the sunflower petals could easily be torn if held wrongly, so really to be read with an adult. Lovely lovely book.

Visually this is an awesome book! However the title gives away, the repetitive question "What will it be?". The children loved the way the book unfolds (ha!). Used this in the garden/growing story time.

Great read for August story times. The book unfolds, page by page, until a giant sunflower appears! Little kids love it!

a "fold out and find out" book that shows and tells how a sunflower grows as each petal/page is read and opened. The last page lifts to explains how to grow your own sunflowers.
