I knew this book would end with a cliffhanger so I firmly decided to wait until all the books are out. The last time I read a book with a huge cliffhanger in the end I swore to myself I’d never do it again.

My plan worked for about ten seconds, until I got another brilliant idea: to sneak a peek inside just to get the feel of it.

In retrospect, that was the worst decision ever. Because once you start reading this book, you can't stop.

Believe me, I tried.

And failed.

And so, here I a

Jenni Moen is the master of suspense and jaw dropping twist for sure! Black Widow is yet another addition to Mrs Moen’s world of alluring romantic suspense, while it will keep you on your toes, you do get to enjoy a slow and sensual story.

I chose to read Black Widow by Jenni Moen as part of a group reading challenge (a book with a spider on the cover). I gave this romantic suspense novel 3 stars

The developing romantic relationship of the two main characters, Scott Russell and Celeste Smythe is at the center of the story. He is the heroic, protective, tall dark and handsome cop with anger issues. She is the beautiful wounded widow—broken, unstable, and in need of rescuing. (Or, is she?) The conflict between them arises from their

After solving a cold case which evidently he should have been celebrating, it, in fact, ruined his marriage and his career. Scott Russell has lost everything and now he is politely relocated to Highland Park - a wealthy subdivision with low crime rate. On his first train ride to his new place, he meets a mysterious woman on the train. There is something capturing about her, and after a train ride of talking, Scott proposes that he can make her fall in love with him after a week. Seems like a cha

Scott & Celeste met by chance and there was an instant attraction there. Scott offered Celeste a week of unforgettable pleasure and she agreed (I probably would have as well). As they embarked on their journey, they realized there is more than just physical chemistry between them, yet the secrets they’re both hiding come back to haunt them. And that is the thing - there can never be happiness when there are so many secrets.

Two people who were not looking for love somehow found it together, b

This review of Black Widow by Jenni Moen is for The Sweet Spot Sisterhood Blog. To tell you the truth, I haven't read a book like this in quite a while. It is a romantic suspense and Moen reminded me why I like them so much. Yeah, there is sex, but it isn't erotic or over the top. The title intrigued me. Moen weaves a careful web, only divulging as much information as needed. It reminds me of the Sir Walter Scott quote "Oh what tangled web we weave, when we first practice to decieve!" This fits ...more

I really did have high hopes that this one would blow me away, and become a favorite series. Sadly, that was not the case. While I enjoyed Jenni Moen’s writing style, I felt mislead by the blurb and the cover. Firstly, the cover is what stopped me to even look at the blurb, and once I read it I wanted to give it a chance. By both, I really thought there would be some huge mystery behind the title, but it just feel flat for me. The whole plot isn’t what I expected and was lacking

Two people who have a chance meeting decide to spend one week together, that's it... or is it? Twists and turns, oddities and life threatening events unfold after their chance meeting on the train. This book ends on a cliffhanger and is the first book in a series of 3. I'll have chewed my nails off by the time I get my hands on book 2 but I have a feeling it will be well worth it!

I loved everything about this book (except the cliffy at the end, but I digress...). Detective Scott Russell is all s

Detective Scott Russell is in transit, making an unexpected, and rather unwanted, new start in a new town. Celeste Smythe is very much stuck in the same spot, wishing she could start over somewhere new. Neither is seeking love.
When they happen to meet one night on a train, there's a tentative but instant connection. Willing to take a chance and explore what could be, Scott asks for a week to prove what kind of guy he is. (Oh so dreamy IMO!)
That in itself would make a good romantic plot, BUT ther

Black Widow by Jenni Moen is the first book of three in her new Black Widow series. It is a book filled with secrets, twists, turns and suspense. be prepared - there is a cliffhanger at the end of this book as the story spread out among three books.

Scott and Celeste - I don't have words. One has secrets and the other wants to uncover them. Their chemistry is palpable and his alpha tendencies are a delight. The back and forth between these two is always witty, sometimes scathing and other times j

Have you ever found that author that just makes you happy dance in your seat the second you find out they've put out a new book? Jenni Moen is one of those authors for me. Black Widow is the first book of the Black Widow Series and it is phenomenal. I feel like giving any details will give too much away and I am not one for spoilers. So I will say this...It is sexy, mysterious and thought provoking. With dynamic characters, you can never quite figure out the motivations behind an action and the ...more

Black Widow was excellent! A great combination of intrigue and mysteries. Had I known that the book ended in a cliffhanger and the second book isn't due out in the Sring of 2017, I would have waited to read it! Black Widow has great characters, Scott a former detective who is about to embark on a new job and relocate to a new city. One night he meets Celeste on a train and suddenly things in Scott's life change. Celeste is a hard one to figure out, is she a femme fatale, or is she herself a vict ...more

Wow, Wow, Wow! Jenni Moen is a new author to me and she did not disappoint!

This is the story of Scott and Celeste who have a chance encounter on the train. Celeste is guarded and is unsure of the attractive stranger who seems to say all the right things. Scott is not shy about his attraction to Celeste and the banter between the two of them is sexy and fun. From that moment on, things will never be the same for either one of them.

Is it a coincidence that strange things start happening to them a

Black Widow was a really good & mysterious book that I really enjoyed reading. There were a lot of twists and turns, and just when I thought I was figuring something out, NOPE! This Romantic Thriller did end on a cliffhanger, so now I can't wait to finish on with this story when the next book comes out. I found this book intriguing. I was hooked after Scott and Celeste's conversation on the train; it was a well-written mysterious and unconventional encounter between complete strangers laced with a tasteful amount of sexual chemistry and allure of what would happen next.

Little did they know their train was about to take a sharp left turn straight into crazy town.

There are so many words I can use to describe Black Widow by Jenni Moen, but I can’t decide which one has that perfect fit. There is a WoW factor that I wasn’t expecting, and the plot twists had me stunned.

Scott Russell is a Detective who moves to a quieter suburb, escaping a life he would rather forget. When he meets a quiet girl on the train he becomes attracted instantly. It’s not like he’s looking for anything to happen between them, but

Jenni Moen has really written a brilliant book with ‘Black Widow’, it gives you passion, mystery, sex, longing, intrigue and a rollercoaster of emotions as you find yourself rooting for Scott and Celeste.

After a chance meeting on a train Scott finds himself immediately drawn to Celeste, he finds her intriguing and can’t quite figure her out. When their paths cross again he makes her an offer that quite frankly a doubt any female would refuse and that is to spend a week with him. She accepts but

WOW. Not sure how to describe this story. There are so many twists and subplots going on that I’m not sure who is who. I realize that is the in intention, but when this part of the book ends we have so many unanswered questions!

So we know that Scott Russel is a detective who has changed jobs due to some events which occurred at his old job. We also know that he meets a mysterious woman on the train and saves her from being mugged. That is about all that we know for sure. OK, not really, but seri

This is an intriguing book the blurb caught my eye and I knew I need to read it.
It's a romance with a difference between Celeste and Scott, usually one character is a mystery with the other trying to unravel their secrets but in this case both of them have secrets both of them are hiding something.
Scott has left Chicago under something of a cloud but we as the reader don't know what we can guess but will we be correct in our assumptions. He meets Celeste on a train and comes to her rescue but

Very promising

It is my first book by this author but I must say it is a very interesting story. I hope it has very unpredictable and original end as a true mystery/ detective story should have. The way the relationship between the two characters unfolds I would not necessarily want a happy end for them. Somehow and despite their attraction I do not feel they belong to each other. As a prediction I think the black widow is (or should be) behind the gifts and is not (or should not) innocent as f

Around the Year i...: Black Widow (Black Widow #1), by Jenni Moen 1 12 Jan 28, 2017 10:12AM
Jenni Moen lives in Oklahoma with her husband and three crazy, exuberant kids who have the potential to burn the house down at any moment.

When she’s not chauffeuring kids around town, performing her mom duties as a short order cook and maid, or vacuuming for her fastidious husband, she hammers away at her keyboard. Most of the time, she's up to no good, but every now and then a new book is born.
