Overall, while dated, still a very good overview of the islands

I picked up this travel book months ago in preparation for a trip to French Polynesia in August. Upon arrival in the islands, I discovered that three of the seven people traveling had exactly the same book. We all found Jan Prince's book an excellent guide to virtually every aspect of the islands. Although born in the Unites States, Jan Prince moved to Tahiti in 1970 and then to the island of Moorea in 1992. It seems that she has been everywhere possible in French Polynesia and provides intimate detail for each island. If you plan to travel to this part of the world, I highly recommend this guide.
