Shelby does have a secret past that almost no one knows about ... especially her husband. She is not who she says she is.

No matter how much you try and suppress your past, it does have a very nasty way to catch up with you when you least expect it. And when it does, there will be a lot at stake. And that is exactly what happens to Dr. Shelby Cooper when her past catches up and her present threatens to fall apart.

This book is a read-in-one-sitting kind because if you leave it half way for any work to be done, you will not be able to focus on the work at all. The mystery will keep popping up in your mind and you wi

Dark and twisty!

Dr. Shelby Cooper seems to have it all. Brilliant, successful, she is a research scientist married to a powerful man who is soon to become CEO, with two perfect children, and even an adorable dog.

They are the type of people others look at in envy and then the dreams start. They become nightmares; the type that haunt your days and makes you fear the day.

The facade cracks. Skeletons fall from the closets. Shelby's husband is not what he's cracked up to be.

I enjoyed the suspense and mystery of this story. Dr. Cooper seems to have it all, at least until her former lover is found shot to death in the trunk of her car, and she is arrested for his murder. Even though she knows she is being set up, she is powerless to prove it if she wants to protect her family. Meanwhile, her teenage daughter is being stalked and receiving some very troubling texts from the same person threatening Dr. Cooper.

There are plenty of twists in the plot of this story, and t

FTC: I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review. I received no other compensation and the opinions expressed in this review are one hundred percent true and my own.

Swan Deception by Glede Browne Kabongo was a fantastic book. This is the first book I am read in a while that kept me on the edge of my seat and made me want to keep reading because I had to know what was going to happen next. I don’t remember the last time that I read a book that even at work

Swan Deception opens with a quote by Sir Walter Scott. “Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.” It explores the consequences of deception on many levels. It seems that everyone is hiding something. If everyone had just been honest with each other, none of this would have happened. But then we wouldn’t have this book. Shelby lives with her husband Jason and children Abbie and Miles in a wealthy Boston suburb. She has a stalker who seems to know all about her and frames ...more

A gripping read that demonstrates how one’s past can never be fully hidden, and how easily their lies can come back to haunt them, which is what happens to Dr. Shelby Cooper. On the exterior, it looks as if she’s got it all: A successful career, a loving husband (who is also successful), two kids, and a dog. The perfect family, right?

But Shelby has a secret past that is about to catch up with her. Someone is stalking her, threatening to expose her secrets, and they’re going after her family, ev

Psychological thrillers are one of my favorite genres when it comes to suspense or mystery in books or movies, and Glede Browne Kabongo’s novel “Swan Deception” is a great example of this genre at its best. With characters that you will genuinely find relatable and quickly grow to care about, and a plot that will keep you turning the pages and struggling to put the book down, “Swan Deception” is sure to engage your curiosity and have you trying your hand at psychological detective work. This is my second book by Glede Browne Kabongo. The first was an ebook and this, an audiobook. I was immediately drawn into the story and kept there by the author. The storyline was nearly perfect and it helped for me that the subject was around STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields. This was easy to get through and very entertaining on the drive to and from work. The ending was a shocker for me - I won't say anything, you have to read or listen to it for yourself.

Swan Deception by Glede Browne Kabongo is a thrill ride right from the first few pages. Just outside of Boston in a affluent suburb, a wealthy, successful family lives happily and seems to have it all. That is true, until a dead body is found in the trunk of Shelby Cooper's car. With a fast pace that keeps the reader turning pages, a great mystery and well thought out, complex characters, this is a compelling and addictive story. With a house and family full of secrets there is bound to be troub ...more

Dr. Shelby Cooper is a scientist in the field of bioinformatics. I never did understand what that is, but fortunately, in this novel that is not an issue. It’s what Shelby does, not who she is. She is a wife to Jason, a mother to Abbie and Miles, and a best friend to Vivian, but unfortunately, she is also Alessandro’s mistress. And that’s not the only secret she’s trying to keep.

Shelby has a past that no one, except Vivian, knows about and she has perfected the lies that keep is buried way down

If you like a book filled with twists and turns, this is it. From one moment to the next, I wasn't sure who would be next or who was in control. Reading books that involve a great set up like that, take a good deal of making sure that everything still flows together and I think that the author achieved that. The author also did an excellent job of incorporating the past into the present without losing me as a reader.

I love a good psychological thriller.....

Too bad this one wasn't one of them. This has to be one of the worst books I have ever read!! There was no real 'thriller' here. The characters were two dimensional, no substance, no development. Reading this book - that's six hours of my life that I'll never get back.......

A very twisted 4.5 stars for this truly diabolical psychological thriller! Wow, as I finish this book my head is still spinning from all the twists and turns in this one. Staying up all night finishing this one may have been a good thing, because it is so unsettling I would hate to have dreams about it.

They sat together on her bed. “What are we going to do, Abbie?” he asked. His eyes brimmed with fresh tears. “What if Mom doesn’t come home tomorrow or the day after?” “She will, Miles,” Abbie answered and rubbed his shoulders. “It’s just a mix-up. I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

The first 80 or so chapters of this book really kept my attention, the suspense, the twists and turns, the secrets revealed were all very, very good. I thought I had who the stalker/killer was figured out halfway through the book but then I had to start guessing all over again, if the book had continued this way I would have given it a higher rating. I absolutely love a good suspense/mystery with some psychological thriller thrown in, and Swan Deception delivers on all levels. Dr. Shelby Cooper finds herself in a bind when her ex-lover is found dead (shot) and she becomes the number one suspect. Her husband, Jason, has to wade through her mysterious past and sort out the facts so he can help exonerate his wife.

Swan Deception is a well-written novel full of twist that left me thinking about it days after finished the last chapter! The author shows a lot of well kept imagination in this novel. With well developed characters and a carefully created story line, she does an outstanding job of reflecting mystery and thriller into a sense of reality. Thumbs up for the author.
