Becket is back but this time she's Nightstruck and no longer is carrying around the guilt of bringing the night magic into Philadelphia. Instead she is running around with Aleric, not a care in the world, and selfishly trying to make this new life easier. She causes further damage to the city and her relationships but her loved ones won't give up on her. She knows she doesn't want to be "saved". But she knows Aleric doesn't have the hold on her that he does on the rest of the Nightstruck. So whe ...more

Eh. 2.5 stars. It wasn’t bad. It was very readable but it was so unbelievably slow. Nothing happened.

At the end of the first book Beckett had been Nighstruck. In this one I was finally looking forward to getting some answers and this answered none of them. (Where to the nightstruck go during the day? - dunno, what are the Night Makers? - (basically a “night” light). The nightmakers sounded so cool in the first book and the reality is they are super boring.

Most of the book is Beckett’ whiny intro

Jenna Black's Night Magic is the second installment in the authors Nightstruck series. 17-year old Becket Walker has been tricked into opening a door between worlds, allowing a dark magic into the mortal world. As the magic trickled in, the city began to change at night. Strange creatures roam the streets, inanimate objects come to life, such as potholes turning into toothy mouths and wires turning into strangling vines, a

'Night Magic' is the mesmerizing second novel in a thrilling YA fantasy series that readers are going to want to pick up. I'll say right off that you're going to want to read the first book before this one, or you'll be pretty lost and might miss out on some fantastic details. Every aspect of this novel was incredibly well thought out and executed. The entire idea of night magic and the Nightstruck was fascinating, and I loved learning all I could about it. It's really unique and allows the seri ...more

This review was originally posted on Bookish Things & MoreThis book was as gripping, if not more, than Nightstruck. I was engrossed in this book from the very beginning. It picks up right where Nightstruck left off. Becket is adjusting to her new nightly routine. But she isn't like the others that have succumbed to the darkness. I loved seeing the dynamic between her, Luke, Aleric, and a few others. She has to find her way, and get used to the fact that she has a darkness inside her.

I read a lot of horror books mostly adult as I like to get scared. Even though this book didn't scare me I did enjoy it. It has some crazy elements to it and is on the lighter side of horror but it is YA. I got pulled into this crazy world and I am excited to see where this series goes next. I highly recommend this book to any horror fan. 4/5 Bloody Fangs

I almost gave up on this one because the pace was pretty slow and not much happens in 280 pages. The reader gets too much of the protagonist's annoying inner monologue, and not nearly enough of the interesting horror-fantasy-action that made me pick up the second book. Give me more scary Philly.

3.65 stars. The first book was better but I still enjoyed this one enough to read the third (I’m assuming there will be a third book).

Well, I'm done. I'm frustrated with this series because I love the entire idea here. From Becket's blood causing this to it having so much power. Everything that happens at night and the changes that occur in the darkness are just so damn awesome. And can't forget that I simply love Aleric. I really don't care that he's the twisted bad guy. But I HATE Becket, I HATE Luke, and I HATE this thing between the two of them.

I mostly enjoyed the beginning of the book. It was great to have more Aleric an

I was excited to start this book. I really enjoyed the first book in this series. I really enjoyed this mixed up version of Philly that Jenna Black created. I’m not an avid read of YA fiction. I am a reader of horror (not as much I would probably like, but I’m reading more and more each year). I do love Jenna Black and I like her YA too. They tend to be a bit on the darker side and with this horror story that is there in spades.

So this story pic

OMG! Jenna Black has done it again!! Night Magic is the second installment in this terror filled series! And it HAS to be a trilogy at least because OMG THAT ENDING!!!!

We pick things up nearly right where the left off, if you remember Philadelphia has been taken over by Night Magic. Every night once the sun goes down, shadows and monstrous things take over the city, leading the charge is the mysterious Aleric. It's not really clear on what he is, I'm suspecting a demon of some kind. Since Becket

When I grab the first book in the Nightstruck series by Jenna Black I thought it was a duology. I had been wanting to read a previous series by Jenna but Nightstruck really called out to me, the story takes place in Philadelphia, has magic and all the really interesting parts take place at night. I mean if a description like that didn't call out to me then almost nothing would.

After reading it I realize it was sort of a soft horror book (which I don't read) but it was good a kept my interest. Th

Night Magic by Jenna Black is the sequel to Nightstruck. We continue the story with Becket in the still quarantined Philadelphia - after she unknowingly unleashed a darkness that transforms the city into a hell-like state. I was so excited to dive back into this creepy horror!

After Becket has become one of the Nighstruck, she is roaming the monstrous streets and having the time of her life. The rest of the city hunkers down and tries to survive the evil that transforms everything at night into a

NightStruck left us with one painful cliffhanger.

Night Magic continues full throttle.

Becket fought with everything she had to stay away from the grasp of the night. After she was tricked, and stuck outside during transition, she became Nightstruck....and she was enjoying herself. No pain, no heartache, she doesn't know why she didn't become Knightstruck sooner. However, the guilt she had, is just under the surface, and she wonders how devoted she truly is to the night.

Aleric has made her his que

The quarantine continues in Philadelphia as Nightstruck citizens and magical horrors plague the streets, destroying, looting and killing with abandon. Becket is now Nightstruck, having ended the previous book stuck outside at dawn. But she no longer cares about consequences as Nightstruck lack any conscience or guilt. Her former bitter enemy Aleric is her new best friend and the two become lovers. As she dives deeper into the Nightstruck madness, she realizes that she is different, less affected ...more

wow wow wow..... I don't even know where to start with all this. the first book was a little slow but this book was definitely fast. the action was jammed packed. Becket is amazing. Luke and Becket are the perfect team! oh and of course Bob. I really enjoyed everything about this book. the characters were so lifelike.

I contacted the author and she said that unfortunately her publishing company has dropped this series. I feel like that's ridiculous. maybe they should have done a better promoting

This series has been a lot of fun to read, I really hope that Black finishes the series. You can tell by the way this book ended that there should be at least one more book. I need to know what is going to happen with Becket, Luke, Piper and Aleric!

I enjoyed this book as much as I did the first one. I couldn't put it down. But now, I have to wait for the third book to come out to find out what happens. I'm not a patient person when it comes to books, lol.

Let me tell you something. I picked an ARC of book one last year. I don't remember where I found it but man was that a find. I read that puppy in just a few hours and I wanted book two right then and there. So when I got the chance to read this one I about died!! DIED!!

This one picked up where book one left off and this time all bets are off. At the end of book, one poor Becket has been Nightstruck and just don't care anymore. I love that we got to see this side of the story. It really opens yo

I’m excited to be so in love with a “horror” series. The descriptive elements in the first book were still present here (although less so as so much world building had already been covered in book one). I’m envious of people who can read the two back to back (or in future just marathon the series) because the world can really suck you in and I just want Book three now. I may need to plan a reread.

Jenna Black is your typical writer. Which means she's an "experience junkie." She got her BA in physical anthropology and French from Duke University.

Once upon a time, she dreamed she would be the next Jane Goodall, camping in the bush making fabulous discoveries about primate behavior. Then, during her senior year at Duke, she did some actual research in the field and made this shocking discovery
