The Whedonite

Rate this book
Bookstore manager Mira has a super cute new neighbor. Too bad his first impression of her was as a babbling spaz. But Mira has plenty to keep her distracted in putting together one of her favorite events of the year: the store's upcoming Whedon Night.

Jordan is new in town, and already he's sick of his empty apartment and lonely takeout dinners. His new neighbor might be a little weird, but her company would still be better than another night alone. Probably.

Whedonite is a cute humorous novella about neighbors who fall in love. Mira is quirky, kind, and seems to say awkward things around Jordan, her neighbor. She has this obsession with Joss Whedon, a writer, producer, and director of shows such as Buffy, Firefly, etc. Jordan is the hot neighbor who is new to town and is a bit lonely as he tries to navigate his new hometown. I really liked the two characters as well as Mira’s friends. This is a pretty fast paced book. While fun and enjoyable, it felt a little rushed (yes, I get it is a novella and not a full length book) so I would have liked a few more chapters. I received this book from Booksprout and I voluntarily leave this review.

I seem to have won this novella in a giveaway I don't remember entering, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm not typically a fandom or romance fan, but this was short enough to make it worth a go. It was cute and kept me interested, despite me not being the "right" kind of geek, not a romance fan, and not much in the way of a Joss Whedon or Whedonverse, as it's called in the book, fan. Glazki seems to be able to build charming but whole characters, and nothing felt too eye-rolly to me, the non-romantic. I would definitely give one of her full-length novels a chance.

My only issue with this book is that it was over way to quickly for me , the story had a wonderful plot line and the characters were well developed and written , I just think it could have been a more in-depth romance .

This was a short story. It had a very interesting premise and the author delivered on that premise. I found her to be fun and humorous. Her reaction to him was priceless....totally entertaining. I was thoroughly engrossed in the story because the author built their relationship slowly but in a believable manner. A good book.

Her new neighbour is a cute but she made a bad first impression. Now she needs to sort out whedon night. What she does not know is that he is lonely and he likes her. Can this be the start of something t new and fun? See if it will

Cute short story, possibly most enjoyable for fellow Whedonites (or for people who are at least mildly appreciative of anything Whedon :).

Such a cute, sweet story! The only Joss Whedon 'verse i'm well versed in is Firefly, but that didn't stop me from following this story and adoring Mira's devotion to all things Whedon. It's a quick read that and left me smiling - and awwing, too.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got me some Dr. Horrible to watch...
