I've been watched all my life. I'm used to being stared at. Observed. Followed.

Fame and obsession collide in this darkly twisted novel from an incredible new voice in suspense.

Debi I was extremely disappointed. I hope the author maybe gives us a better ending. I did like the book though.

This book needs to be made into a movie (or preferable a miniseries). I read A LOT of thrillers, but honestly, few really catches my attention in a way that makes me totally absorbed. WATCH THE GIRLS is one of them. Seriously, I just absolutely loved this book. It got everything I like, dysfunctional families, missing people, creepy little town, people with wolf masks, orgies ... yeah, I bet you're interested now? ;)

Seriously, I always hope to be entertained when I read a thriller, and often at

The first 1/3 of this book started off so creepy and had so much potential but that is about the only good things I have to say. This book went completely off the rails for me.

For the amount of violence and sex scenes this book had it actually read very much as young adult.

The ending sucked.

2 stars because I managed to finish it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Is there really that much difference between being a detective and playing one on tv?

Liv Hendricks used to be Olivia Hill, the teen actress who was last seen in The Hills Have PIs alongside her younger sister Gemma. Olivia was the star going places, while Gemma was the liability with all her partying on the verge of being written out. That is until their younger sister Miranda disappeared on a night Olivia dragged her along to pick Gemma up from a party. Miranda was never seen again

I'm actually very disappointed after reading Watch the Girls . The premise sounds amazing: Liv Hendricks is a falling child star who now is a reality television personality on a popular Ghost Hunters type of show. After she's let go by her boss, she drunkenly sets up a funding page to help her venture off on her own webseries that will follow a similar format. Liv gets a strikingly lucrative deal by one of the country's most eccentric movie producers to investigate the disappearances of sever ...more

This was a book that really kept me guessing. When I first read the description for this book, I knew that I had to give it a try. I love a good thriller and this one looked to have a whole lot of promise. Once I got started with this one, I had to know how things would work out. There were plenty of twists and turns that kept the pages turning. I am glad that I decided to take a chance on this one.

Liv ended her acting career as a te

4.5 TWISTY TWISTY STARS!!!

Watch the Girls finds former child star, Olivia Hill - now known as Liv Hendricks, hosting a crime investigation show which she crowdfunds (a la Kickstarter type tool), when she receives a large amount of funding from a famous filmmaker who wants to know what happened to his missing niece and hopes she will take this up on her show! Coincidentally, Jonas, the direction, had once wanted Liv to star in his film years ago - but Liv passed, and then her own sister Miranda a

In 2003 Actress Olivia Hill had a hit TV show with her sister Gemma and movie roles were beginning to pour in. Their "momager", Desiree, was overbearing and more interested in money than the well being of her daughters and Gemma began a dangerous spiral with drugs and alcohol. Olivia and younger sister Miranda received a frantic call from Gemma asking if they'd pick her up from a party on Mulholland Drive. The evening ended in a car crash: Olivia suffered a traumatic brain injury and Miranda dis ...more

Boy, oh boy, should I have looked at some reviews before jumping into this one, and this one may have been a bit ambitious on the gore/mature side for me.

That was the most depraved thing I've ever read, it ranks second to Dark Places. Through and through, this novel is definitely geared towards adults, and I don't mean new adult, (unless you are in that dark spot in your life, in which I completely recommend this novel. Perspectives can be changed), but adult. The level of content was not somet

I'm so torn on this one... Anything from A3 to A4 star read, in my book! This was such an incredibly quick read if I had more time during the day to read I think I would have read this in two sittings, however work and training got in the way, as it usually does. Some aspects of this book made me cringe because it seemed almost too unrealistic, while other aspects of it cringe because they were very realistic, such as the sadism and very graphic sex scenes. Let's just say this is not the type of ...more

This book had goods and bads. I was completely drawn in by the title and cover. I figured it would be a bit dark and twisted and I was looking forward to getting sucked into the story. However, it started off with promise but lost me a bit in the middle and concluded decently. I just had such higher hopes so I felt a bit let down.
I am still trying to figure out how I really think, I think my main issue is that I didn't like the main character...

Well I called that ending a million miles away.

So this is the story of Olivia, who used to be a child star, become a adult TV star, and then gets fired. However, 15 years ago she had her youngest sister gone missing. Have never found her she had a strong urge to take a case to find out what happened to all the girls who have gone missing on the "Dark Road". Doing that though may lead to places, and people, she never wanted to know or see.

Good: The Olivia character is pretty interesting. Her se

I am completely in love with this book. It's so intense and so creepy and just really, really good.

Like with Marisha Pessl's Night Film, the horror movies described are completely brutal and unflinching. Part of me wants to watch them and part of me is like, "You will never recover." ALSO like Night Film, the movies are a catalyst for a plot that is...well, also brutal and unflinching. Reading this book was a little bit like a fever dream. I wasn't sure what was happening or what was real.

Want your daily creep fed to you through a book? Check out Watch The Girls from your local library or bookstore! Seriously, the creep factor of this book is a solid 8 for the first half of the book.

For those of you who didn’t like this book, sorry not sorry. I loved this book. It was so obsessively creepy and dark in some parts. If James Wan or Blumhouse wanted to put this on screen and change some things to make it more horror, less thriller. Some gore. Sign. Me up. Boo boo.

Holy crap.
I won this edition through Goodreads Giveaways, and it is not 320 pages! It's 385 pages, plus Acknowledgements.
It was long; I usually aim for my books to be 350 pages or under, but when you get a free book you do not complain. And holy crap, was this worth it!
There were a lot of, er, mature scenes, but the story, the material, is so rich and real it makes your regular life seem like the ultimate bliss. Sometimes I wish I were a famous actress... But then I read this book! No thank you!

Jennifer Wolfe’s new novel, WATCH THE GIRLS, starts with two sisters ( the youngest and the oldest) driving to “rescue” the middle girl – a wild child, television ingénue with a penchant for trouble. Flash forward a decade and a half and the oldest sister, Liv ( Olivia) is practically a has been in the tv realm, while the middle sister, Gemma, has gained stardom and fame at the cost of everyone and everything around her. The baby sister disappeared during that night 15 years ago, throwing Liv in ...more

Yeah, I don’t really know what all that was about, or why it was included after every time jump. Idgaf how many Twitter followers the main character has, or how many calories she eats. I get that her mom was mentally abusive and instilled that mindset into her from a young age, but the repetition of it throughout the whole story made me roll my eyes. Liv hated fat people, so I’m sure she’d just see me as a

Didn't finish this book. Couldn't make myself do it. I found the female character annoying, childish and immature. You know it's bad when you're hoping the killer gets his hands on her.

3.5 stars, rounded up. Watch the Girls is an atmospheric, genuinely creepy thriller about the price of fame and how the past can haunt us. I'm absolutely fascinated with the "books about film" subgenre, and this is an excellent one. Author Jennifer Wolfe mentions in her acknowledgements that we all have a "good wolf" and a "bad wolf" inside us, and in this book, her inner "bad wolf" shows itself in disturbing descriptions of screwed-up, pitch black horror movies. I fell so far into the wormhole ...more

***Trigger Warning for Sexual Assault and Rape in this book***

This book made me feel very iffy, honestly.

The main character was very relatable, I felt like I was reading about someone I knew or was close to me. In fact, the plot was so realistic it was terrifying. Anyone avid in the media could go through this and I found that quite terrifying.

The problem I had the most with was how abrupt the trans

I said I hoped this book didn’t spin off the rails in the last act - And boy, did it ever. That ending was pretty drunk and whackadoo but I ain’t even mad at it.

This was a dark, very dirty mystery that did somehow manage to feel a little YA at times. (I love YA so it’s all gravy.) I think the author was closely inspired by Night Film and Sharp Objects, both which are better IMO. The potential for a very rich cast of characters was here, but not fully explored. But the imagery and tone were cree

Campy, creepy, twisted. Horror? Mystery? Both. I read this one because Jennifer is a guest on my Wine Women & Writing podcast—wouldn't have been my normal pick—and found myself swept along with it. Her reality show protagonist Liz and her sisters are deliciously damaged and competitive, which has a ring of authenticity in this age of social media, famous-for-being-famous stars, web series, crowdfunding, and other contemporary phenomena. But Liz et al are actually interesting like the Kardashians ...more

I was literally hooked from the first page. Although I did listen to the audio. I did not want to stop reading. I read while working, driving and eating. I may have yelled at the characters a few times and my husband because for some strange reason he kept thinking I was talking to him and I needed him to hush.

This book so so good! Seriously pick it up.
