“Mom, if you could do anything, what would you do?”
From that moment on, she hasn’t looked back.
In addition to being co-owner of Novel Concept Publishing (www.novelconceptpublishing), Ms. Taylor also moonlights as a Senior Editor of Allegory (www.allegoryezine.com), an online venue for Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror.

This story definitely has the wow factor that will keep you glued to the book until the last page, from the sweet moments, sexy times, hostile encounters, magical experience, up to the surprising twists. Ms. Taylor definitely has a mastery on keeping you on your toes when it comes to her plots, and this one did not disappoint. The story is fast-paced and the thrill and action, in every page, surely helped in making this story an experience. This may be my favorite of her books, so far!
Very interesting and entertaining story. Listened to the audio version, and the narrator did a great job. I love the idea for this series! I've read a few other books in the Othala witch collection, and have enjoyed all of them! Unique story, and I love the sort of dystopian setting with the dangerous, vicious creatures. I enjoyed that this story doesn't take the typical route, it kept me engrossed in the story. I do think Star and Jaden both made stupid decisions and actions at times. I loved the magical aspect, but I don't get why they didn't use magic sooner! They both get into some crazy, dangerous situation and really needed to use magic to help out. The romance does have some sweet moments, but Jaden isn't great at times. He came across as weak and a big baby at times, and he really needed to say sorry for some of his actions. Star forgives him way too quickly. I also would've like more in the ending. Overall, unique and interesting story! Great series idea!
I have read my fair deal of this collection yet, but this book was just pure delight. It went far beyond my expectations and considering I expected something a little different, I was pleasantly surprised. Star is a slave to the regent Samantha Mallory by default, after enslaving her mother when her father rejected her desires and married the woman he loved. Being punished for whatever excuse the regent is able to make up, Star seeks her refuge in her best friend Jaden - the regent´s son. But he is forced into an unpleasant marriage for the "higher good" of the sector. Confiding to each other with their deadly secrets, Jaden and Star must endure all the trials the fate sets in front of them, most of those grounded in decision affecting life or death. I was emotionally knocked out by this book. I could have titled it "How to break a promising and stable relationship in an instant... and what it takes to repair the damages". There were so many heartbreaking moment that I had to adore the protagonists for their inner strength and ability to cope with the inevitable. But Even the purest of hearts could be tainted by doubts and anger, and it nearly killed those two - literally and metaphorically both. What they suffered through changed them rapidly, but fighting own demons might bring a wisdom in the end. The story was very fast, full of magic with its uniqueness, ranging forms and blackest evil. I could not put it aside and I am quite excited about the next read in this series.
Star is a servant to the Regent in Sector Eleven. She's been best friends with the Regent's oldest son, Jaden since they were kids. Both her mother and the Regent have warned them to stay away from each other, yet they defy them daily. Theirs is a love bloomed from unconditional friendship, but both are hiding secrets. Living under the tyrannical Regent hasn't been easy for Star or her family...nor her own children. She's as ruthless as they come. In the Regent's quest for power she tries to ruthlessly drive Star and Jaden apart. Will she succeed in her evil schemes or will her evil plots and schemes be exposed to the entire sector? Jaden and Star must fight against the odds of they want any semblance of a relationship. Will love be enough? Sometimes, it simply isn't when an evil power hungry Regent is involved. Does love truly conquer all? Will they be strong enough to defeat the Regent? You have to read and find out! This book is another excellent addition to the Othala Witch Collection! I adore this series! I can't wait for the other books to be released! These books can be read out of order, although I suggest starting with Sector One and going from there. You'll love them immediately! As with all of these books, this one is no exception. It's a must-read! 5 stars!
Star is a servant who has been forced to serve the Regency for as long as she can remember. She has magical talent but has to hide it else she will be killed. Jaden is her best friend and the Regents son and he has to marry a pure witch in order to keep sector 11 safe and within his bloodline (plus it has to be someone his mother approves of).
Jaden asks Star to help him find one which means she has a real problem - help the man she loves to find a wife and she has lost him, or show her magic and be put outside the barrier with the Ravagers. Either way she loses.
This was a lovely story of evil and how love can overcome it. It contains a few surprises (you have to read it to find out what they are) and I have to confess I was quite teary at a couple of points when I thought it was hopeless and her world was really going to fall apart. So it was very well written and I could definitely feel the emotions involved in the story.
I received an ARC from the author and have chosen to review it. I really enjoyed this story. The characters had to struggle to be together and by doing this it just shows how strong their bond can be. I loved how Jaden would do anything to protect Star and she would do the same to protect him. This book surprised me with how evil a person can actually be. I didn’t think the villain of the story could get much worse than what she already was at the beginning but by the end of the book I was floored with how much eviler she had gotten. By the ending I wasn’t really sure how I felt about Jaden he can be quite an idiot at times. The one thing I didn’t care for was some of the bad language there were a few words that I don’t think the story needed to get a point across it just took away from the story in my opinion.
Another amazing well written book from J. E. Taylor. In this paranormal series book you see Sector Eleven in which Star lives. Because of the circumstances in which she lives she has had to hide what she is and what she can. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat. I found myself one minute crying and the next minute cheering on people. This book was written in such a way as you will feel as though you are part of it. A rare gift indeed from the author. A must read for all.
