Finding Home #3

The Way Home

Rate this book
Our new relationship was blooming, just like the first roses of the season. The delicate petals were slowly separating to reveal its full glory. It was pure.

Right.
Whole.
Until it wasn't.

Too many factors pulled us apart. Our lives were shaped before we met. They were part of a glorious garden of hope and promise. Neither of us seemed willing to prune the old to make way for the new, so eventually, we withered and died. But like with the greatest gardens, the best plants only go dormant. They slumber through the harsh winter, only to be reborn in the spring.

Completely relatable, real and refreshing!!! The Way Home is a beautiful book about some pretty awesome characters, and I believe it to be this author’s best work yet. I was engaged, enraged and brought to tears. Well done!!!!!!

I've been hooked into reading some very dark books lately and I just knew this one was going to bring me back to all that is good and right about the world. In a genre littered bad boys and psychopaths (which I love), it's great to pick up a book that reminds me that nice and normal can be just as enticing and sexy as twisted and damaged. Rachel Caid’s words have never failed to bring back to center.

Enter Pete and Emmy. They are real people with a real story about real life issues. They are just two regular people working hard, facing life’s challenges, trying to find their way in life, their way to each other, and ultimately, their “Way Home”.

I have affectionately nicknamed Pete, “Superman”. Why, you might ask? Well, way back when, before I actually started dating, only just beginning to dream of love, and long before I ever dreamed of falling for a bad boy. Pffft! I had this fantasy of my perfect guy. He was hard working, thoughtful, sweet, and always made me laugh. He put my needs above his own, and was laser focused on us. He was strong, kind, and of course, hot as sin. Well, Pete is my first fantasy come to life; he is my Superman! *sigh*

Emmy and I got on from page one. There is so much in her that I see in myself, strength, drive and independence. Even if the b!tch stole my man, I could see us being great friends.

Rachel, thank you for keeping it real and always bringing me home.

Pete and Emmy have met several times. After all Pete's sister Anna just married Emmy's brother Craig, but despite the possible complications they can't put off acting on their attraction for one another anymore

One of those complications, is that they each live hundreds of miles apart, and thus embark on a long distance relationship. There is light on the horizon though, since Emmy has a plan in place that will result in her moving to the same area where Pete and his family reside.

What they didn't count on, was just everyday life getting in the way.

Rounding out Rachel Caid's Finding Home series is a standalone novel that tells what might be termed a somewhat'ordinary' story.

There are no kidnappings or murders, no fight against time facing incalculable odds with the lives of thousands in the balance, just two people who happen to like each other trying to make a relationship work in less than ideal circumstances, but for me at least, tha's more than enough.

Not being high schoolers or even still college age, they've both mapped out pathways and embarked on careers that are important to them, meaning that it's not so easy to just walk away from everything for the sake of a fledgling relationship, so working things out is challenge enough.

I really enjoyed the sense of family that permeated the pages of The Way Home and how it didn't need to resort to trite clichés to create the drama that propels the story forward, and for those who have followed the entire series, the epilogue is something really special

- primeiro que o casal foi tão cativante e o desfecho da historia deles foi bem criativa e muito emocionante que queria algo mais especial para a ultima pagina, mesmo que depois no epilogo a gente deduza o que aconteceu com eles;

Emmy and Pete! Acquainted through their sibling's relationships, it's no secret Emmaline has been crushing on Pete. When they finally connect it definitely proves worth the wait. Their chemistry is palpable and between the sheets they are very compatible, if you know what I mean. With Emmy's proposal to open a satellite office in Charleston all the pieces seem to be falling in place...until they aren't. Blindsided by someone she trusts, Emmy is reeling over the rejection. Retreating to within herself, her lack of communication with Pete starts to chip away at their relationship. When there is trouble on the home front with Pete's family he questions if he can be what Emmy needs. With doubts creeping in on both sides they seem doomed to fail before they ever really got started. Can Emmy pull herself out of her melancholy to salvage what really makes her happy? Can Pete learn his new place as Emmy's protector and let go of old family ties and commitments?

This was a solid read. I enjoyed the chemistry between the two characters and really was able to relate to Emmy. She's smart, successful, independent, and a little bit of a Type A alpha rolled up in this bolt of cheery sunshine...until she isn't. She gets knocked on her ass and then has to claw her way out. I loved all the dimensions she had and think many women will be able to relate to her. Pete's love for poetry combined with his working man exterior make for some swoony moments as well.

Pete and Emmy!!!! We have gotten to know a little about both of these characters in the last two books, but this is their story. All the feels!!! I can't express how swoony Pete is. You have to find out for yourselves!! Favorite quote for the book: " love doesn't make life easy, love makes life worth something.” I have grown to love Rachel's writing and her books get better and better!! I personally can't wait to see what she brings us next!

Well this book had me crying so much. Not all ugly tears, quite a few were happy tears! This whole series has been amazing. Rachel writes so well you FEEL the words on the page not just read them. The emotion and chemistry between the characters is simply powerful. I highly recommend this book and series.

I loved Pete and Emmy's story.....

I love Rachel Caid's books they are more true to life then most out there. She takes a ordinary couple and brings them to life. And many people can relate to the words written.

This was a sweet story with a few hiccups in the road. It was refreshing.

I can't wait to see what this author brings us next.
