Never thought I would say this but I got annoyed in the last 25% of the book because there was too much sex and not enough story. I love sex in books as much as the next person but this was too much for me lol, I started to get bored.
I'd rate this book 2.5 stars. There weren't many surprises in this novel. There was a dreamy, alpha H in his early 30s who meets the h when she's 17, so if age gaps are your thing, there's a big one here. Gage meets Raven at the MC he's president of. She's one of the Hellhound's (biker tramps for lack of a better term) little sister. He's immediately attracted to her, both looks-wise as well as being drawn to her feisty nature as she tells him to go to hell. She wants nothing to do with the MC that her troublesome and uncaring sister hangs with. She's been dumped with her sister after her father was shot and killed in his job as cop. Gage continues to pursue her and this and their consequent relationship is pretty much the book. Add to that a couple of dilemmas with other clubs and relationship drama and you have the sum of it.
I found a lot of the story/writing came across as immature and it contained a clunky storyline that is mostly appreciated by women who think they're living vicariously through over the top 'dark' reads. This wasn't dark or edgy, but I know a lot of people that like a quick and easy read with unnecessary angst that aren't worried about a solid story line will like it. While I could have forgiven parts of the plot, one of the main characters really dropped the ball for me. Personally, I didn't care for Raven. She was very young and came across as annoying and childish for a lot of the book. I'm not sure if this was the author's writing style or just the character, but it wasn't for me. There was lots of her wearing tight clothes, dancing 'sexy' and provocatively with her best friends, getting excited about silly things and so on and so forth. She just sounded childish and really chav/bogan/trailer - pick one. I was rolling my eyes pretty early on in the book and it didn't get better. Gage was likeable for the most part, but towards the end of the set, he gave up on the relationship for a bit after an over the top misunderstanding so some of the positive thoughts I had for him went out the window.
The first main portion of the story is made up of Raven and Gage getting hot and heavy as he waits for her to turn 18. There is only PG stuff up until her birthday and the fact that they both want each other is dragged on and on for a very long time - by Book 3 they still hadn't been intimate. Trigger warning: When she finally turns 18, Raven is sexually assaulted by being penetrated with an object, but she can't remember who it was as she was drugged. This then takes the next large chunk of the story as they still aren't intimate and Raven deals with depression from the incident. When she works her way through this, Gage and her finally get it on and then the author spends the rest of the book making up for the lack of sex by cramming in as much as she can for the remainder of the novels. It went from one extreme to the other, unfortunately to the detriment of the story which was severely lacking by this point.
What I liked about the book? The author got straight into Gage and Raven meeting each other. They don't start dating straight away so there are other women for Gage - you've been warned. Gage was possessive so if that's your thing, there's a bit of it through the story.
What I didn't like? Brace yourself because the list is pretty long. I'm not being nasty to the author, but listing things I personally didn't like that other readers might like to know about before purchasing this series. Firstly, Gage was light-haired. This is not the cover model and drives me crazy. I liked the cover, but the image didn't match Gage. The second thing - Raven had a boyfriend that she hooked up with after meeting Gage. By all accounts in the book, he's handsome and sweet and treats her well so of course she messes around with Gage behind his back several times, basically having a relationship with him while stringing the other guy along who finds out when he walks in on them macking in a club. Nope and nope. It made me like Raven even less, but she felt bad about it so we're supposed to get over it. You get over it, I'm not lol.
Next, there was a load, and I mean a load, of back and forth. Raven going to end the relationship because of one reason or another, none of which she follows through with adding extra drama and angst that added absolutely nothing to the story. Add to this Raven's young age and propensity to behave and talk in an immature manner and I started to skim bits and didn't feels as though I was missing anything. There was a stack of repetition - Gage wanting to get into Raven's pants, him not wanting to before she's 18, them finally doing it and then hardly taking a breath, Raven coming up with some childish, hairbrained scheme with her friends to turn on Gage that had me cringing because it was so ridiculous... I could continue, but we'd be here all night. The assault was over the top and while I appreciated the author's efforts to take it seriously and have Raven feel a wide range of emotions about it, it dragged on for far too long as did the who did it aspect.
Raven's mother who had nothing to do with her and gave her up at birth to her father because her wealthy parents made her returns to the scene. I'm not sure what the point of this was because we never got a full and detailed explanation of why she'd stepped out of her life apart from she had to and missed her everyday. Sorry, I'd still be pretty cranky at that. The whole trying to have mother-daughter relationship was laid on thick and was really cheesy. Gage offers 2 million to find information on who assaulted Raven. Believe me, this was one of the tamer plot points as the book became more and more unbelievable. Raven was in cat fights and involved in derogatory name calling to other females - also not my cup of tea.
Apart from Raven, the bit I probably disliked the most about the book was how it became more and more ridiculous as the story continued. There was crap chucked in just for the sake of it, making the credibility worse as I read on. To be fair, I'm not sure if it actually did get that bad or I'd just had a gut full by then and couldn't wait to get to the end of it. Gage caught Raven touching herself - she bites her lip and watches him with child-like innocence. I kid you not, this is from the book, as is Gage being big, intimidating and veiny. Ha ha ha! I've heard it all, now. It was if the author was overcompensating for there being no action in the first two-thirds of the book so she put her foot to the floor.
Some of the sex scenes were eye-rollingly cliche as was some of the dialogue, making me cringe at times. All in all, by the end of the book, I was skimming a lot as I couldn't take it seriously. I'm sure some people will love the angst, pretend they are young and 'sexy' like Raven and ignore the lack of plot because there's a possessive alpha male who's the president of an MC. I'm not one of them and while the length was decent, the plot, dialogue and some of the characters were not. I was lucky enough to grab this set when it was free. If I'd paid for it, I would have rated it lower.
I have given an independent review on Forbidden because I didn’t find the series box set until after I had read the first one.
Forbidden - Book 1 Tempted - Book 2 Claimed –Book 3 Deception – Book 3.5
When I finished the first book I was mad about the cliffhanger. The author more than made up for it in the second book.
The plot twist was awesome and totally unexpected. I was shocked to learn who the bad person was. I never saw it coming. Ms. Sapphire gets high marks for that!
I love how Gage and Raven relate to each other and that they stick together no matter what. I was sad that the birthday party didn’t happen. However, I read the boxed set so I know what would have happened. Raven even gets to know the MC guys better and they become her family. I wasn’t expecting her mother though. It was a nice touch. I also read the novella Deception because once I get into a book; I have to find out what happens until the end!
I think that the couple name in this one is perfect. Although Gage has no idea what a couple name is and thinks that the ladies are crazy. In the novella Raven does some seriously stupid shit. Gage learns exactly what it is like not to have Raven in his life and he finally figures out that he can’t live without her. I really liked it as a conclusion to this couples books. Now I am going to have to read the rest of the series. I can’t wait to see what happens with some of the guys!
I LOVED IT! Alana never disappoints me. I bought this book. I've read the complete death Dwellers series and I ABSO-FREAKIN-LUTELY LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT!! I have read just about all of Alana's books. except the paranormal ones. Not my thing, I have to say if you haven't read her books you most definitely better check her out. She Amazing! I extremely recommend all Alana's books to everyone.
Absolutely loved raven and Gage's story. It was heart breaking to read what raven had to go through and the aftermath of it but she was so strong and having her friends, the club guys and most importantly Gage by her side she came out from that darkness and made herself even stronger than before. Gage 's possessive and jealous and such a dirty talker when it comes to raven. He started out like any president of a MC (motor cycle club) with the ex' club girls hanging around and him not wanting to admit his feelings until someone special comes into there lives and they break there own rules. I think I nearly highlighted everything that Gage did or said to raven it was unbelievable hot between them from the beginning and then when they finally became a couple of was off the charts hot 🔥🔥🔥. This book was a an amazing read and after it being on my tbr lost for a while now I finally got round to reading it and I'm mad at myself for not reading this sooner.
WOW!!! Rage Death Dealers MC by Alana Sapphire will have your emotions all over the place, this is one box set you will not be able to put down. You will be drawn into this amazing, hot relationship between Rage and Raven as well as the strong bond of the brothers of the Death Dealers MC and love of family. This story had twists and turns that was filled with drama, action, betrayal and hot passion that will blow you away, but most of all the never ending love between these two. With all of the obstacles they had to face, their love only grew stronger as Rage is able to admit his love for Raven and Raven proves she will no longer be a victim and turns out to be worthy of being Rage's old lady! I received this book for an honest review. This is a must read and I highly recommend this boxset.
Loved this whole climatic story of Raven & Gage!! The only thing I didn’t like was when he would be mad at her he would consider being with other chics...not cool! He would be understanding of her age but mentally he would forget she is so young, like with the baby situation. He should have been more understanding that she is thinking like an 18 year old and he’s thinking like a 33 year old. That’s quite different thoughts! I really loved how she shot the biker from the car, killed Deena & wanted to kick Cassidy’s ass! That was great! They make a great couple!
I’m having a hard time finish this book. I like Gage, he is honest and upfront about what he wants. But Raven doesn’t want to be a slut like her sister but she is a cheater….. To me she is worse, she is a hypocrite. She might be a virgin but she really knows how to play a guy. Never thought I would say this but there was just to much sex scenes. And Raven was to childish and immature. That’s why it was so hard to get into the book and believe it. To much going on without going into details, to shallow for me. It’s also those many empty pages that’s just beyond ridiculous. It should have been just 1 book. So no I won’t be reading anymore of this.
I’m glad I bought the whole 4 book collection because of all the cliffhangers at the end of each individual book. I really liked the story, the characters were amazing but there was no sex until 3/4 of the way through and then that’s all there was. Sigh I read for the stories and the intimacy is just a bonus but I like to have it spread out a little bit, not all in one shot!
I've read a lot of MC books, but this is by far one of the best. Gage and Raven are both great characters, as are the supporting characters. It's not for the faint hearted but if you like this genre you must definitely give it a go!
I had never read anything by Alana Sapphire . I received a book suggestions from Facebook to read the Death Dealers Mc by Alana sapphire and boy was I blown away I could not put my phone down. I loved Gage and Ravens box set story from start to finish.
Read his series individually and if you are after a great read this is it. As I read the end of each book I was left wanting to read the next. This is awesome, this quorum writes emotions well and will have your heart beating with it.
This collection was excellent! I couldn't put it down. If you like anticipation filled with lots of surprised you will enjoy reading this. If you are a fan of MC stories this would be a good one to pick up.
This series is steamy, fast paced and well written. There’s a lot of tension and angst, as well as murder and mayhem. The tension between Gage and Raven is hot, but with a LOT of sex.... Overall, a good series with a really nice HEA.
Wow. Amazing. I just couldn't put this series down. I was fascinated from beginning to end. Mayhem, Love, madness, everything you want in a book is here. I absolutelutely loved these people. Thank you for an amazing story
This series is so amazing! The first time I read it I couldn't put it down, and the second time through was no different. Raven makes Gage work for it and makes him realize that he wants things he never thought he would. I absolutely love their chemistry.
I loved this story. It was easy to follow. It's about a biker meeting his soulmate, but she is forbidden because of her age. She was intrigued by Gage but she didn't want to be treated like the other hounds.
At the beginning I didn't think I was going to like the book, but as things progressed it got much better. The writing also improved a lot between the first book and book 3. I'll definitely read the next in the series
This series was one I fell in love with he knew he loved her waited for her waited to be with and someone screwed it all up but it was a fantastic series I loved it characters just captured me
Oh my god this boxset! I am soooo in love with this author now! I want my own Gage, lol! Kudos to the author, wish I had started reading her books a long time ago! Would definitely recommend!
The trilogy put together in a boxset. Fab. Especially when it includes a bonus scene, the novella Deception, and a short story showing us just what would have happened the night of Raven's birthday party, if what happened... didn't.
This book gave me a few mini heart attacks along the way. Every time I thought it was over there was another part about to begin. I never fully invested in Gage 100%. I don't know if it was the thing with that threw me off but I just wasn't in love with his character. He was very stubborn too which got to be annoying. He really played up that alpha possessiveness. Which I didn't mind a bit. Raven was in and out with me. I liked her but there was nothing really special about her. My heart broke for her quite a few times in this story. Poor girl. That ending was so cute. I would've liked more of that short story or if that was a novella I'm not sure but whatever it was I enjoyed that more than the whole book combined.
Overall I was really into it and enjoyed most of it aside from a few parts that are just personal annoyances for me in books. Also the sex was just... a lot. Every chapter they had sex, marathon sex. It was basically their connection. There wasn't any deep meaningful conversations or them hanging out just being with each other it always led to sex and uncontrollable lust. So there could have been more relationship content in this and a bit less sex. For me anyway, I'm sure it's a big hit with a lot of readers. Otherwise I did like it. Probably wouldn't read again because it was kind of long but I'd definitely recommend to readers who enjoy MC's, alpha men and sex, sex, sex.
