Pouting Always
Gideon is an assassin from humble beginnings, originally the son of a prostitute. While he tries to unwind from his last job, Gideon is being hunted by Midnight, his father, whom he tried to kill unsuccessfully. The book alternates between their two story lines and is intertwined with the many side characters that get caught up with them due to their ties in international politics. Personally didn't enjoy the book very much because while the writing wasn't bad it felt rough because of the pacing ...more

Something about EJD's usually highly engrossing novels has changed. Perhaps it is my literary depth or lack thereof that has changed but something simply in his once amazing stories simply stopped being. This was the case, and my experience, with Finding Gideon.

Initially, Finding Gideon motioned along like an unnavigated roller coaster. It was dysfunctional for far too long before the gears shifted. I began to feel discouraged, frustrated at another book that felt, for a while, like swallowing s

Have you ever been so excited to read, watch or eat something and the anticipation was killing you? That's how I felt waiting for this book to happen. Just like everyone else, I couldn't wait for another adventure with Gideon. Then the day happens, you get what you've been waiting for, and then it falls short of your expectations. You stop for a minute and think "something is wrong with me, why didn't I love it," and you're beside yourself.

Finding Gideon wasn't a "bad" book by any sense of the

Recommends it for: Lovers of the Gideon Series
Eric Jerome Dickey is back with his newest release Finding Gideon, which came out on April 18th, published by Dutton. I’m sure if you’re a fan of Eric Jerome Dickey’s Gideon series you’ll be happy about this new release focusing on Gideon. Having not read any of the Gideon series I was afraid that I would be a little lost trying to follow the story of Finding Gideon. https://browngirlreading.com/2017/05/...

This was a very difficult book to finish.

Let me break the reasons down:

1. Aside the main ARC involving Gideon and Medianoche(Midnight), there were many many many many MANY side characters. All who were described, given backstories, and sometimes had their own POV. This cluttered the story.

2.There were many expressions, most in Spanish, that I had to keep translating or looking up because I didn't get them. This soured & slowed down my reading experience.

3.The writing was a bit choppy, somet

Exhilarating, Titillating, Explosive!

Gideon, a hard-hearted hit man and lover extraordinaire, finds himself in an uncomfortable rivalry war when he cannot say no to the woman who haunts his heart. There is much damage on both sides, and there is a personal revengeful element that will lead Gideon to become more introspective than in previous books. But the other side, knows how to mess with his head leading Gideon to ponder what type of monster he has become but also opening his eyes to the trai

Fast-paced and full of action, I had a hard time putting this book down. Gideon was at war with his believed-to-be father Medianoche (this is still up for debate) and both had their own teammates to help them end the other. As the body count rose, I wondered which of these men would come out on top.

I enjoyed the quick looks into different heads, with the main focus being on Gideon and Medianoche. I thought it added life to the cast and while they were still bad people, it humanized them more tha

3.5 Stars. Erotica, violence, and profanity. Wild crazy characters. Location, location, location. Culture. Language. Backstory. Suspense. Adventure. Some repetition. Too many characters for my taste, but each and every one was interesting (he gave them all a history).

If you are a fan of the Gideon series, you will really like this book. If you are not, you might be inclined to DNF. This is a standalone novel, but it would really help if you have read the other books in the series. Although I sti

I waited a long time for this book, I wish there were more answers with it but I feel like I have more questions than I started out with. ' Oh and I can't believe he left us with ANOTHER cliffhanger!!! I just hope it won't be another 8 years to finally find out what happened.

Eric Jerome Dickey is a master at his trade. I tried to fall in love with Finding Gideon but... not sure what happened. Lots of characters and twists and turns. It was an effort to read. I would still read more of his work.

I agree, EJD, Resurrecting Midnight and Finding Gideon felt like a series novel by itself. I totally enjoyed it. But damn, when one war ends, another war rises. I thought this was the end of Gideon when he went after the Horsemen solo. Didn't see that coming. But then again, there were some jump arounds that was a little confusing.

I thought Lola Mack and Ms. Jones were killed off by red-headed assassin when they were still in London? Did I miss something?

I won this book in a goodreads drawing.

In Argentina, a son tries to kill his father. This is complicated by the fact they are both top drawer mercenary soldiers. There are plots and counterplots, and a lot of sleeping around.

Not bad, but not really a classic of the genre.

My, my, my! I've been a EJD Fan since the first book, Sleeping with Strangers! I read the 1st and 2nd back to back the rest as they released, but 8 years EJD?? Why did you make us wait so long!? I'm sure just as many days as you thought about Gideon we thought twice, anticipating his arrival as did the Four Horseman! I have to say honestly that it took me longer to jump in than any of the other books in the series (or his work period) but once I got through I could not put it down! A couple thin ...more

Another Gideon novel for the franchise that hints at future books to follow. I enjoyed the story because it was well written and contained the right combination of action with character development. I always chuckle to myself while reading EJD because he expects so much from his readers. As a reader of his books you have to speak more than one language and remember various details from the entire series (not just one or two books but the ENTIRE series). EJD was able to include every title of the ...more

Thank you for finally releasing the next installment of the Gideon series. Oh, how I longed for him so. My passion to see this character come back to life equalled that of Miss Jones and Miss Mack. Well, in this book Gideon is thrust head on facing the demons that haunt him daily and the ones lurking to assassinate him at any given moment. How will he conquer and overcome them ?? Well you have to read and find out. As always, Mr. Dickey takes the reader on an action packed adventu

I was on page 84 of this book when I decided to read the reviews.....Although I love Erica Jerome Dickeys previous works, I don't do "cliffhanger" and "continuation" type books because they always make me feel "ganked" and unsatisfied. So I cannot fairly rate this book since I will not finish it.

It has been years! Years I tell you. This book dropped in April and I had so many books in the queue I needed to finish I knew I wouldn't get to this one on the release date. In the mean time and in between time, I was able to observe the reader response. I kept seeing disappointed readers and then I finally saw one reader who was over the moon about it. I finally got the audio version because, if you've never listened to Dion Graham narrate a Gideon story you are missing completely out. He is i ...more

This book just didnt do it for me. Ive been an EJD fan a while and i liked his last book the blackbirds but i feel as if..idk if ive outgrown this series or its just not written well.

Most of the time I really just wanted to wrap this book up.. It took forever. i know this seems crazy to say about a book but wayyyyyy too many details and descriptions. I mean the reader could have gotten the picture with out literally every right hand turn made in buenos aires. including what was on all four corne

I absolutely adore the Gideon series.

I have been riding for this character from the moment that the first book was published and I haven't looked back since.

However, I noticed that Eric Jerome Dickey's writing had changed. And I'm not sure that's a good thing.

The book is very fast paced, full to the brim with Action and that is a great thing, but i felt that some scenes were unnecessary, especially chapters from side characters that were not in the book for long. We could have easily heard th

No one will ever believe I wrote this book because I am a HUGE EJD fan and have been for years. I absolutely loved his old novels and own everything he has ever written. This book for me did not make the cut. We waited way too long for this book and I almost wish it just wasn't written because it did not work for me. Here are a few reasons why:

1. I did not read this book to read about Midnight. He played too big of a role in this book. I felt as though it was Finding Gideon and getting to know M

Eric Jerome Dickey definitely delivered here, as he always does. I was especially impressed by the strong sense of place throughout and that every character (minor and major) had his/her distinct voice. It was a nice surprise that Gideon and Medianoche weren't the only characters with designated chapters.

I could tell that EJD did his research, from the locations and their history, to weapons and technology, and from the vehicles to the non-English languages scattered in the novel. The chapter t
