Bumpy Roads: Glimpses in the Meadows of Memory

The music of ink in this book reflects eventful periods of my life. Playing with the strings of my heart, I have tried to compose tunes to resonate with yours. This book is essentially a travelogue, but also a travelogue through life itself, containing what is hoped are the universal messages for all readers. The book has two sections. In section -1 there are my real life experiences from my school era to life in Medical college highlighting education, mentorship and time management. Section II is about healthy lifestyle and how to avoid smoking, alcohol and drug abuse. Studies have shown that the best way to keep away from such harmful substances is to be aware of their disastrous effects.
Further, I have taken the reader on a tour of all the three divisions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh trying to highlight the glorious history, culture and natural beauty of these regions in the notes after most of the chapters. One of the stories in this book “A Narrow escape” highlights how I survived in blast injury. Having lived through the wonderful way in which my friends rallied round to help me after this terrible experience, irrespective of their religion, origin or cast, the warmth of their friendship and kindness melted all the masks and barriers in my mind. I don’t feel any race is superior or any colour is inferior, and I certainly don’t believe in regionalism or the nasty caste system. Hence I dedicate this work to Global Peace and the Love of Humanity.
I express my sincere gratitude to my parents, family all my friends, teachers and relatives who have been instrumental in the successful completion of this work. I at this moment take the opportunity to offer you my free health educational service via my online educational facility Gastroenterology desk on the Facebook. After reading the book, please provide your valuable feedback on my page or email me at ibrahimmasoodi@hotmail.com. Happy reading!

Some books are written after robust rigorous research whilst some, like a gushing, giggling mountain stream, seem to flow straight from the author's heart! "Bumpy Roads: Glimpses in the Meadows of Memory" by Dr. Ibrahim Masoodi is one such book.

The most striking quality of the book is how the author has captured the zeitgeist of times through a selection of anecdotes from his personal life while growing up in the Himalayan mountain valley of Kashmir. Almost everyone from the author's age group, who grew up in Kashmir, will relate to each and everyone of the anecdotes described in the book. The book, undoubtedly, provides a virtual insight into the society of Kashmir during those times.

Coming from Medico with super-specialisation in Medicine, the author of this book deserves special congratulations.

Presently when all around is confusing, uncertain and life is moving helter-skelter how will one feel if gets some time to sit all aloof, calm and cool---go through an interesting book written skillfully from the core of ones heart. That is “BUMPY ROADS” by a renowned Gastroenterologist Dr. Ibrahim Masoodi.

It is true “DILL SEI JO BAAT NIKALTIHAI HAI ASSAR RAKHTI HAI”
That is about book “Bumpy Roads” depicting uneven roads of life.
I desire him to write a book based on experiences about his present setup of life- away from home. Hope that will also be a master piece

Writing a memoir is not easy, finding ways to strike the right balance between personal memories and the lessons learned from them. The author has managed to strike just the right balance in this one. His personal beliefs and generous philosophy of life shine through on every page. It is an excellent book. This book is factual. Healthy life style chapters are nice summaries for all readers. The book brought back sweet memories. For people who are not from the medical profession, some of the chapters in the book may not seem relevant. For a medico, it is a wonderful book...
