An excellent book for those who are curious about the use of power tools to carve wooden figures. Early chapters discuss the merits and specifics of power carving before surveying the types of machines that can be used for carving. Later chapters deal with techniques and safety issues. About half of the book is dedicated to projects at different levels. Even if you are not going to attempt one of the projects, the discussions aid in understanding how power carving can elevate your efforts.

My only criticism is that several chapters deal with carving birds, which is understandable given how many power carvers do that work. However, if you are not part of this group, then the pages on the anatomy of bird's feather can be ignored.
