The cold war the rise and fall of the Soviet Union ( by Ted
By Adan Adame
In 1960s the cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union is rising and Russia known is the Soviet Union is trying to plan on a attack in America and in 1957 Joseph Stalin was meeting with the Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong and during the meeting things between Russia and China were shocking because China wanted to get involved in the cold war and the US was fuming and they warned the Soviet Union that if they get weapons from China or their allies there was going to be consequences and 2 years later in 1959 Joseph Stalin had died from a stroke he had been diagnosed and the people of the Soviet Union went to the statue of Joseph Stalin were attending a funeral of him from his death. In 1961 the Bay of pigs invasion began in Cuba and the CIA tried to assassinate the Cuban leader Fidel Castro due to the Cuban missile crisis and the plan to assassinate Castro did not work and the CIA had so many plans to Assassinate Castro. During the cold war the Soviets tried to attack the berlin wall but President JFK ordered the US military to stop the Russian aggression. Ever since WW2 the Soviet Union was invaded by the Nazis in 1944 and Moscow was invaded by the Germans in WW2 and year later when the communists had a comeback plan to attack berlin and they were looking for Adolf Hitler but he was dead due to him shooting himself and his body was burned so that the Russians don’t get anything out of him. In 1962 the Soviet leader Khrushchev called a meeting with Chinese communist leader Mao Zedong and during the war the soviets asked for weapons from China but they refuse to because they don’t want a nuclear war to happen.

This was the most chilling and interesting book ever and I had so many thoughts about this and WW2 in General. Also I read some books about WW2 and the Korean war. When I heard north Korea invading south Korea I was shocked. I recommend this book to people who like history.

Pretty good brief overview of the Cold War. I grabbed this at the library to brush up on some history, as I will be traveling to eastern Europe in a few weeks. I learned some interesting tidbits and was able to put some of my fragmented pieces together in understanding some of the politics involved in this important era of world history. I'd say it's mostly objective, though there were some recognizable biases. Ronald Reagan seemed to be a little downplayed in his role. Overall I did gain some insight and knowledge of leaders and affairs surrounding the cold war.
