Here are all the angsty events that happen to these cardboard characters in this surprisingly bland second chance story

Before their marriage:
Heroine’s mother is an alcoholic and is their status-conscious family’s dirty secret
Heroine’s father is a womanizer
Heroine feels useless and wants to prove herself by designing jewelry
Hero’s childhood sweetheart wife is killed by armed intruders when she calls him and not 911
Hero’s father pressures him to expand the business and eclipse his success

Typical Jennifer Hayward. A heroine who is obsessed with her career, who doesn't want her baby she in fact wants to hire a nanny to raise it but hey at least she knows she is bad mother material. She even admits being a mother isn't in her DNA. What a cold, unfeeling heroine! I feel pity for the kids she has in the epilogue!

I really enjoyed this one, although I think the miscarriage issue was never really dealt with in the book. I've read other HPs that had the loss of a baby/child and addressed this issue more fully. One other odd bit was the fiance who disappeared at the beginning. I thought it was funny he was just chucked out like a bunch of inferior flowers when the delicious not-quite-the-ex-husband showed up.

I did like both the hero and heroine, and I found their rekindled romance very sexy and satisfying.

This book should have been called "Don't waste your time & money". Since there were no reviews, I decided to purchase based on misleading preview. For anyone who knows me, I absolutely loath O/W or O/M drama in my romance books. This one has it in spades! (view spoiler) ...more

Jennifer Hayward does it again!

Lorenzo was the sweetest and most patient man ever. There were so many times in the book where I stopped and awww'd out loud because of his actions. He worked really hard to make things work with himself and Angelina and you can totally tell he still loves her. He didn't give up on her when she reacted and wanted to quit. He gave her time to grow into her new life. And the heartbreaking back story of his ex-wife or late wife made my heart sink and break.

An exquisitely emotive story of second chances which starts with the most beautiful author's dedication.

Lorenzo is presented with the most shell shocking news about his divorce and one the shock subsides he knows this is his once in a lifetime chance to get his wife back in his life where he's always wanted her, by his side.

Angelina reluctantly returns, yes with the requisite blackmailing, but it's about there things take a different path, Lorenzo truly want a his marriage back and he is writ

I've received a free copy of this book and what can I say, it was amazing !! Jennifer Hayward, never disapoints, her stories are full of strong and sexy characters, the way Lorenzo and Angelina are. The story begins with a lot of Misunderstanding between the Hero and the heroine but both of them are still very attracted by each other, they have an incredible sexual tension. Then step by step, hands in hands they will try to resolve their issue . What I like about this book and generaly in Jennif ...more

I rate this 2.5 stars.

This one started with lots of potential to be great and enjoyable, but I was very disappointed in what the book actually turned out to be. This is not going to be like one of my usual reviews where I give a brief synopsis of the book and then explain how I feel about the book and then if I recommend it or not. I'm just going to skip to talking about how I feel about this book.

I would have rated this book 1.5 stars, but there were some good things in the story that usually a

A Debt Paid in the Marriage Bed begins with Lorenzo returning from a business trip abroad, only to be surprised with some astonishing news: due to a slip up by his legal team, he learns he’s still married to Angelina…..over a year after said divorce was “final”. Knowing he should be upset, he can’t help but wonder if this isn’t the answer to a bigger problem. After being summoned by his father earlier, he was told it was now up to him to produce a Ricci heir, due to his sister-in-law’s infertili ...more

An exciting read filled with a mixture of turmoil and emotions!

Angelina Carmichael has her world turned upside down at her engagement party when her ex-husband shows up to tell her that they are still married and she will be returning to his bed to fulfill her duties as his wife ... or he'll ruin her father!

Lorenzo Ricci can't stand the fact that Angie walked out on him all those years ago, and now that he needs an heir and finds out that they are conveniently still married, what better way to g

This book was a bit of a surprise. The blurb was interesting, of course, but naturally the whole "oops we're still married" trope left me expecting one thing when the book delivered something else entirely. Which was fantastic.

The book begins right in the thick of things. Lorenzo, our hero, learns right away that his ex-wife of two years is in fact still his wife. Apparently they have still been married these two years apart due to a filing issue with his law firm. This knews follows on the heel

A second chance romance. Angelina and Lorenzo married because of a pregnancy and even though their chemistry was explosive, when they lost their baby to a miscarriage neither knew how to deal with the pain and walked away. When a technicality reveals they aren't actually divorced Lorenzo is ready to try again but Angelina won't let them repeat their mistakes. They may be still explosive in the bedroom but Angelina wants them steady everywhere and doesn't want to hide that she's fallen in love wi ...more

What to do when a newly engaged bride to be discovers she is still married to the man who broke her heart? Especially when said husband is insisting that they stay married and fix things between them. Angelina isn't sure she can put her heart in the line again and it's obvious her husband Lorenzo is still emotionally stunted so why even bother? Add in some business and family drama and you have two people struggling to learn how to respect each other, communicate and yes, maybe even love each ot ...more

Jennifer Hayward writes drama infused romances best. In her latest offering, A Debt Paid in the Marriage Bed, we meet a heroine who wants to move on with her life and a hero who will do whatever it takes to stop her and claim her as his own...because she is still his wife! In this high-octane romance, the author melds her prose with deep emotional conflict, magnetic sexual tension and a passionate face-off between Angelina and Lorenzo, two headstrong and independent characters who you'd either l

It was sweet how Lorenzo actually tried to be better, to care for his wife, to listen.
Angelina was right, pretending to be someone, according to what the situation requires, doesn’t allow you to be who you really are. And by doing so, she was chipping away part of her soul. Especially when she realized how much she was in love with Lorenzo, and how, in spite of everything she did, it didn’t seem to be enough for him.

A Debt Paid in the Marriage Bed

This was about getting and giving second chances. The heroine was all set to marry another man when her ex husband came and told her that their marriage was still legal. And he wants her back. Will things be different this time? Or will old habits interfere?

Quick enjoyable read. With these types of books you pretty much know how it's going to go but the characters were interesting and well thought out. Enough back story to make the characters real but not so much that you were depressed or overwhelmed while reading it.

MS Hayward writes a story that pulls you in from page one they are sensual emotional and so very, very enjoyable and I loved this one the hero is one alpha gorgeous man, Lorenzo Ricci he is also very protective and there are good reasons for this but when a mistake with his divorce brings him back to his wife Angelina and the Ricci family needs an heir well then let the fireworks begin.

Angelina is so shocked when her supposedly ex-husband shows up at her engagement party and declares them still

A Debt Paid in the Marriage Bed (Harlequin Presents) by Jennifer Hayward
Angelina Ricci and Lorenzo Ricci had been married and thought they were divorced. However there was a slip up and they never were divorced. Trouble for Angelina as she was going to get married and at her engagement party is when Lorenzo walks in and demands she call it off. Telling her that she is still married and that she should stay married to him. Lorenzo needs an offspring who will live on as the Ricci heir.

4.5 Star Review at

Lorenzo Ricci never thought he’d see Angelina Carmichael again, but it turns out they’re still married. When he turns up at her engagement party with the news, he can’t blame her for the less than warm reception. Still, he isn’t about to let her get away when he needs her and if he has to blackmail her to get her to acquiesce to his reasons for needing her back in his life and his bed, then that’s what he’ll do. Ms. Hayward starts her lovely story with a beautiful dedication to her Dad, who sadly passed as she was writing this book.  All her books have such heart and soul in them and this is another example of her amazing talent. Angelina and Lorenzo fell in love and got married, Nope not HEA yet.  Angelina walks out of the marriage and after so much heartache finds someone new and plans to remarry.  End of story? Not.  If you have never read a Ms. Hayward story you will never miss another she is one of ...more

I really enjoyed A Debt Paid in the Marriage Bed by Jennifer Hayward. It’s a story about second changes and how important communication is to make a marriage work. This is not your typical romance where the hero and heroine don’t communicate at all. It was so refreshing to read!

Both characters have emotional issues that they need to resolve and the book show us how they develop and rise above their pasts to become better people and the chemistry between the characters was off the charts.
