Rate this book
Lissa Winters has her life all figured out. She wants a happy marriage and a house full of kids, right down to the white picket fence. The only thing that doesn't figure neatly into her plans is Jesse Kincade. She's been in love with him as long as she can remember, but after a fateful kiss under the stars he made it clear they weren't meant to be.

Jesse is struggling to keep his farm supply store in the black and has no time for a distraction like Lissa. Especially when he knows they have no future. He comes from a dark past and he's just not marriage material. He knows he could never be what Lissa needs.

When Lissa finds her chance to be with Jesse, even if it means she has to sacrifice her dreams, she wants to take it. But can she really be okay with only having part of him? And can Jesse deal with his past enough to see that he and Lissa are meant for love?

This one did not help my current reading slump.

I disliked the "H" immensely and the h was just a sad, too understanding, lets-herself-be-pushed-around person that I could not get behind.

Basically the story is about Jesse and Lissa. Lisssa has been in love with Jesse forever and of course Jesse has also been half in love with her, but because his father was/is a giant douche nozzle, he thinks he is destined to follow in his father's footsteps, so he pushes the h away at ever opportunity "to protect her."

If you've read some past reviews of mine, you know I'm not a fan of this plot device. And that doesn't change in this book either. I felt that the reason was just too weak. Maybe it was just the writing style, but I didn't feel any intense emotional turmoil over anything. I especially didn't feel any chemistry between Jesse and Lissa. Why did she like him? Honestly, I have no idea. Why did he like her? Probably because she handy and he could string her along indefinitely without ever having to actually make an effort, that's how malleable she was.

Bottom line, I found myself bored too many times and no way was Jesse's apology enough for me to forgive him for how he reacted to the surprise baby news. Not cool, dude! Not. Cool.

Oh my goodness! Lissa and Jesse were such a fun couple! I couldn’t get enough of these two. They were totally meant to be. I loved watching them just as friends in the beginning of this series so to see them as a couple was great. I was happy they got their happily ever after! 💚🍩🐴

Good read

Our heroine is bossy, nosey, and sassy. Our hero is hunky, and has a lot of baggage from his family. He doesn't think he can give her what she wants. Can the compromise? Highly recommend.

I enjoyed this book very much. I thought it was a very well written book. I thought the characters were very well developed and very likable for the most part. I really enjoyed the main characters of the story, Lissa Winters and Jesse Kincade. I liked Lissa's family members especially the sisters and I liked Jesse's Mother and his new found half sister Abby. The only character I didn't like was Jesse's Father which was to be expected as there was nothing likable about him presented in the book. The only thing that I did expect that didn't happen is that I thought there might be some additional dialogue between Jesse and his Mother. However, I liked how Jesse's Mother treated Abby even though she is a product of her husband's affair with another woman. It wasn't Abby's fault. I thought the pace of the book was good too. I especially liked how the book ended.

"Got more than you bargained for, Kincade? He smiled, though he still looked a little shell-shocked. "With you? Always." He kissed her squarely on the mouth, then pulled back slightly so they were still only a breath apart. " And, I wouldn't have it any other way."

There wasn't any profanity. I also liked how the Author handled the obvious love making sessions without having to be overly graphic about it. And since she did get pregnant the reader knows what went on.

I look forward to reading more from this Author.

They grew up together, they were great friends, worked together, he was her boss, and she had been secretly in love with him for years.

Finally something had to give.... either sell the business or save it, either try and be together or keep resisting.

This pair are cute, the only thing that kept them apart was his inner demons and his need to protect her from them. He believed he was never going to amount to being a good husband and father- which is what Lissa wanted eventually.

But life had other choices. With the stresses of saving the business, him discovering his sister and her getting sick it was time he determined what he really wanted and could be.

I think this is a powerful reminder that what we believe is only a mindset change away. That everyone has baggage and inner turmoil but you can overcome it.

It's nice to see that both had loved each other for years and finally they had each other in all capacities. I'm glad he realized things before they were too late.

I loved the update on Cassie and Jack. Now both friends will have close families as they'd always hoped.

Clean, but not Christian

This is a nice and clean, but not Christian, romance. I categorize it as clean because there's mostly innuendo, but no sex scenes. It usually goes something like this, they're kissing and fall on the bed and all of a sudden it's morning and one of them makes a comment about barely sleeping. The sex is implied, but not detailed in any way. That being said, its not Christian because these folks aren't married, but are clearly knocking boots on the regular.

The hero has daddy issues and the heroine has a crazy albeit close-knit family. There are setbacks and surprises, but it all works out in the end. If you like your romance with just a touch of steam, this is the ticket.

There were A LOT of gaps in this story. It was a fine read - a little light on actual romance, but it was fine. The characters are a continuation from the first book and I feel like they were slightly different in the first book, but it was fine and didn't detract from this story too much.

I am interested in the third in the series, but based on the number of typos alone I'm not willing to pay more than $.99 for it.

This is another great read. Lissa and Jesse have worked together for years at Kincade Supply. When Jesse tells her he’s selling the shop, she can’t accept that. Will her idea to save the shop work? Will Jesse ever accept Lissa’s feelings for him and acknowledge his feelings for her? Grab your copy and get ready to fall for the Winters family. Jesse’s upbringing was so different from Lissa’s, but he honestly doesn’t think he can have a lasting, meaningful relationship.

Terrific

Lissa has been in love with Jesse for a point time but the has had his own issues about long term relationships. His dad gas not been a goods example. He finally running the store and he feels he may have to sell. But between Lissa and her sister they find as way to keep it. Now she just has to work on Jesse.

2.5 stars. This was a kindle freebie. And while I liked the setting and the characters, the plot just felt so formulaic. It was a by-the-book plotline that I've read a thousand times. I wanted something a little more fresh. The writing and editing were good at least.

Just very meh for me.

Deleted from my kindle.

Meant for Love

Enjoyed this story. Jesse let his father's short comings and lack of support growing up, color his conception of his own abilities. He and Lisa had both grown up working in the family store. Despite his determination not to let himself enter into a,serious relationship. But as usual live won out. I give it 5 stars

Part of a series, I would read the rest. Good as a standalone story. They have known each other all their lives, she loves him. He has lots of issues and isn't interested in a relationship, she makes a move on him....

I thought the love story part was sweet and clean. There are a few sexy scenes, but they are implied with no great detail. I too believe it could have used a good proof reader, but it didn't keep me from enjoying the story.

I enjoyed the story. It was well planned and written. There were a few places where sentences constructions weren't correct but it did not make a big difference to the story.

Character drive. Decent except he calls her baby. She tells him off once for babe but accepts baby? Why do some people find it endearing to be compared to an infant, implying one is incapable of taking care of oneself?

Romances where the only thing that stands in a couples' way is the self-image of one of them frustrate me, so it takes very little to make me stop when that situation already exists. The heroine's too-perfect family pushed me over the top.

A fun story.

This fun to read. The characters had so much chemistry between them they could light up a ball field. You also will learn that some men can be pretty dense sometimes. Great job writing this book.

It was just meh for me. A quick read and quite a few editing errors, which really takes away from the story for me.

Sweet enough, just didn't like the Female Main, she was demanding and pressured him into something he didn't want so that was pathetic. It was at times boring, unfortunately.

A sweet read.

I found Jesse a little frustrating, he is moody and snaps at Lissa one moment then is kissing her the next, before once again pushing her away. This book is a journey of emotional discovery and growth for both Jesse and Lissa, it is a sweet, enjoyable, easy read.
