Love Real Food: More Than 100 Feel-Good Vegetarian Favorites to Delight the Senses and Nourish the Body by Kathryne Taylor is a 2017 Rodale Books publication.

This vegetarian cookbook has an eye-catching cover which encouraged me to take a look inside. I love vegetables and even as a kid growing up in the deep south, where meat and potatoes was the staple at most dinner tables, I was never a big fan of the meat. However, I ate double helpings of nearly all the vegetables most other kids vehement

I read many cookbooks, but review few. This one though I find wonderful. Not a full time vegetarian, though we do eat meatless, or try to for four days of the week. Picked this one up after my boss at work racing about it, and have since made a few of the recipes. For instance, yesterday I made the roasted cauliflower and kale with toasted almonds, pasta. It was fantastic, even hubby liked it as did my daughter and her friend. Next I want to make the couscous stuffed sweet potatoes, which also so ...more

I love her blog and I love this book! I've already made four recipes from it and they were all great. I love that her vegetarian recipes (aka all of them) have so much flavour and variety, while still being simple and really manageable.

As an amateur cook who almost never follows a recipe to the letter, because a) she somehow skips essential steps/ingredients when reading a recipe b) she never has all the ingredients at hand because she is bored to take that extra trip to the store, I can proudly say that everything I cooked from this book, works. This is my go-to book when I am craving a salad, a nice breakfast or filling dinner, and don’t want to spend the rest of the day/ night trying to digest what I ate.

I decide which cook

This is a cookbook by my favorite food blogger, known on the web as "Cookie and Kate". The book is full of beautiful photos and recipes of delicious, easy-t0-make healthy meals made with fresh ingredients. Most of my go-to recipes have come from Kate, including the best lentil soup ever, steel-cut oatmeal with coconut/almond milk, and sweet potato/kale/quinoa salad to die for. If you are looking for fun new recipes for delicious "clean" food, I highly recommend this book.

The same kind of amazing, delicious and easy to make recipes you'd expect from Taylor, if you've previously read her blog.

Great vegetarian recipes, with tips on how to make them vegan or gluten-free if you need to. An excellent addition to the canon of vegetarian cookbooks.

Love this cookbook. There are quite a few recipes I want to try. I made the Hibiscus Lemonade and it was a hit. Will be making more from it.

Five solid stars for this one! The recipes are laid out beautifully--with gorgeous pictures of the food (and her adorable dog!) on nearly every other page. Plant-based, whole food, vegetarian eating shines and of the five recipes I've made so far, I have zero complaints. She also lists where you can make a recipe vegan, egg- or dairy-free if you so choose. I love the flexibility!

This cookbook has some interesting healthy recipes with real food that is easy to find. The recipes are simple. The pictures are great. nicely put together and some twists on standard recipes and lots of ideas to make healthy, tasty food.

The author notes under each recipe if it is gluten free, dairy free, etc. She also has suggestions to change it to specific dietary needs. However, there is no calorie or nutritional information which would have been helpful.

Last Wednesday evening I while running out to quickly dump the compost in the green bin I found a small-ish parcel on the front step. In it was a cookbook I've been waiting to try: Love Real Food by Kathryne Taylor. So now it's Monday evening and in that less-than-a-week span we've enjoyed so many recipes! Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, sweets -- so many "keeper" recipes (as my friend puts it when she finds recipes so good that she "keeps"making them again and again). Normally the turnaround ...more

Pros: food is delicious, recipes aren’t generally over complicated (nor are they hard boiled egg recipes (looking at you, goop)), great food photos, and it feels ‘healthy’ and fresh. I like that generally all the ingredients are on the page with all the instructions so you’re not flipping back and forth.

Cons: no cook time, no nutritional information and no ‘twists’ which would be nice (eg sub x for y to put a spin on it although some recipes have ‘change it up’ edit: realize these are actually

One problem with rating cookbooks is that there are so many factors to consider, it's hard to settle on a single rating. This cookbook is a good example of that. I would rate it like this:
Taste: 5
Originality: 3.5
Writing style: 3
Photography: 5
So... 4.12?

Most of the recipes have tasted great. A handful - like the granola, the baked tofu, and a couple of the salads - have become regular dishes in our home. But taken as a whole, the cookbook isn't terribly original. Ingredients like sweet potato, ka

I've been following Kate's blog, Cookie and Kate, for some time now, and I was pleased to see her first cookbook with a slant towards eating unprocessed food. As a fellow photographer, I appreciate Kate's beautiful photos - all the more adorable to include her sweet dog, Cookie. This is a great book for a starter vegetarian/vegan. Even though it is not a strict vegan cookbook, almost all of the recipes include substitutions for vegan options (as well as options for allergies/food sensitivities e ...more

I haven’t made anything from this books yet, but i know it’s gonna be great. i read through each and every recipe and instruction, and they all utilize simple, normal ingredients, with uncomplicated instructions, along with tips for adjusting seasoning to taste, or substitutions and variations to change things up. nearly every recipe was something i wanted to try. i’ll also admit that i’ve come across her blog before, and, while i’ll be giving it another look now, it hadn’t clicked with me befor ...more

Love, love, love Cookie and Kate! Over the past couple of years I have been trying her recipes off of her blog and pinterest and have NEVER had a new meal that I didn't love. My husband, who lives with two vegetarians, said, "her recipes have changed our lives!" and he is right! We have generally cooked healthy meals but now we have reduced the number of "pasta" meals and amped up flavor profiles. We just had to buy her cookbook and unsurprisingly it did NOT disappoint. Love the layers of flavor ...more

Oh, man, people on here love this cookbook and now I feel like a jerk! But...I just didn't love it. None of the recipes really stood out to me. Perhaps because I've been reading so dang many vegetarian cookbooks lately, I feel like I've seen pretty much everything in here somewhere else already, but in a simpler form. Most of the recipes that involve cooking look to take between 45 minutes and an hour, which I don't generally have the patience for, and even then, I feel like she makes some thing ...more

Every recipe I have made out of this cookbook (and that number is high) has been delicious, easy, and dare say it, FUN to make! Kate understands vegetarians and has assembled an eclectic and creative assortment of recipes that incorporate hundreds of healthy ingredients. I have been cooking tofu for over a decade and could never nail it - her guidance has made me a tofu master! My FAVOURITE cookbook ever. It’s my culinary BIBLE. I have reread it so many times, I’ve practically memorised it. The pictures are beautiful, the recipes are easy to follow, and you feel healthier just by LOOKING at it. I might actually become vegetarian just because of this book. The cauliflower and kale spaghetti is INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. I received this cookbook thru Goodreads first-reads offer. I'm not Vegetarian, but enjoy vegetables, especiailly in the summer when so much local produce is available. What drew my attention to this books was the giveaway description that included "dairy-free and egg-free". I had particularly hoped for some dairy & egg-free baking recipes - unfortunately there were very few. At first pass I did mark 13 recipes that immediately caught my attention to try, and the various sections gave additio ...more

My fried and colleague gave me this book as a holiday gift after showing me her copy a few weeks before, and I love it! There is a lot of good information on eating vegetarian and whole foods in the intro, and the entire book is beautiful. The recipes are complete and easy to follow, from what I can tell early in my use, including notes at the end of each for making the recipe gluten or soy free or on substitutions for food sensitivities. I think this will join Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone an ...more

This had some delicious looking recipes in it, and I'm looking forward to trying them because they do look delicious.

I will say that the author often makes preparing some of these things sound easier than it actually is. Also, she should probably be more clear that, while some substitutions give a hint of a similar taste, it's not going to taste the same as eating the less healthy version. She often says things "taste exactly the same as ___" when that is definitely not true. They don't taste b

I’ve visited Taylor’s Cookie + Kate blog many times; it’s my go-to site when I’m looking for new ideas for CSA veggies or how to make baked goods healthier. When we decided to be more vegetarian, I was thrilled to learn she has a cookbook. Gorgeous pictures of food are mixed in with adorable Cookie (her dog). She doesn’t ask for strange ingredients I’ve never heard of or expect me to spend days making a salad. They’re solid, healthy recipes of fresh, whole food listed with lots of variations and ...more

Totally delish! This is one of my library checkouts I'll be purchasing and adding to my ever-growing cookbook shelf! "Tuscan White Bean, Kale, and Farro Stew", "Hearty Lentil Minestrone", and "My Favorite Granola", were just a few dishes I've cooked. This book by Kathryn Taylor of "Cookie and Kate" will have me coming back for more. All her recipes are vegetarian and use whole foods; however, you could easily add chicken or fish to some of her dishes. I love her "template" style of recipes she c ...more

Every recipe I tried in this cookbook (at least 6-7) have been delicious and nourishing. My husband has enjoyed the recipes as much as I have. The ingredients lists are not too long or full of lots of things I don't have on handle or can't easily get. While most require some time, none that I tried were overly complicated. I rarely buy cookbooks but this is one I can count on for quality meals and snacks every time, so I purchased it without hestitation. Highly recommended!

I absolutely love these recipes. They’re exactly how my partner and I love to eat- genuinely ‘clean’ healthy, vegetarian means. We literally live off the Hearty Minestrone and the Moroccan Curry. Also I can’t cook, and these recipes are supper easy for me to follow. I’ve bought so many cook books but never found the recipes to actually be useful (always so high in calories or complex- usually both). I am a fitness /health nut and I love this book.

I'm not a vegetarian, nor do I desire to be a vegetarian. The recipes and tips in this book including delicious granola, salad dressings and even cocktails make this a great cookbook. It also enourages eating healthier in ways that are not so painful or make you feel as though you have to sacrifice.

Not a bad cookbook, it just the 3 stars are my rating of enjoyment. My bad for ordering online and not understanding that this author is a pure vegetarian. I'm plant based and these recipes call for a lot of ingredients that I just don't use.

Made few things so far and they were ok but not oustanding.

I won this book from Goodreads Giveaways. Great Vegetarian Cook Book! Very practical love that it's stories and information about food not just a cook book! I already made a few recipes including some cocktails and I loved them also I will update my review with specific recipes I try in the future and my favorites!
