Life is a struggle…

In the ugly web of illness and pain, every breath I take is a fight to carry on and every doctor visit is another reason to give up.

Love is impossible…

With the bravery afforded me by the knowledge of my limited time, pride has lost its importance. A sensuous touch equals escape and surrender, but also sweet, precious agony.

One Night Only…

A single message is the only thing that matters. A single message that can alter his life forever and erase my pain.

One Night Only... we trade the pain to create a memory of a lifetime.

4 "one time, one night, one reality" stars

this is a novella, meaning it's short in pages and does NOT endure or stand the multiple fable activity, hence there should be one storyline, smaller number of characters and not large amount of time expanding the storyline, hence we don't have time to "get in touch" with the characters....

This story though, reaches out with the simple outlining, with ONE MOMENT in TIME, ONE MOMENT IN LIFE when the odds of losing are much higher than winning and yet in that ONE MOMENT you GAIN more than one hopes to achieve in lifetime

it 's a story of a young woman's facing the cruel reality of battling the fatal disease - cancer, and her coping to out live it by continuing with "normal" life, with usual activities, regardless the pain, regardless the uncertain future, or better yet NO future.

She's reluctant to feel more, hence she doesn't interact with others, not wanting to complicate hers or their lives for that matter, so she stays away...until she meets Ashton, a fellow student who lights up the feelings she wants to escape from...and after some time of avoidance, when her strength is low and her fate becomes short of time...she admits her affection towards him and asks him for ONE NIGHT ONLY.

It was a wonderful idea...with a difficult subject...the only objection I have here, minus the small-ish grammar mistakes in sentence construction, is the shortness of the story...I didn't have time to fully connect to the characters, even through the intense and emotional atmosphere around them, which only intensified my eagerness to meet them more...and I wasn't given the time...

I was bloody late for this, but I humbly stepped up now and I OWNED IT!

Keep up with the good work Abby!
You have a talent right there...

Tragic. One word only. It sufficiently sums up this little book. We know we're in for some heartbreak within the prologue. It was about a young woman, April, who knew her days were numbered. She met Ashton in Chemistry class, was immediately drawn to him, and subsequently avoided him. As the end drew near, she asked him for a night of normalcy, which he surprisingly granted. I almost didn't rate this novella because there wasn't enough to base a rating on and I like to be fair. There was no character development, very little plot, and I wasn't given enough to be emotionally invested in the tragedy that this story was. However, I'm interested in finding out how Ashton fares in the future so I'll be reading the next book.

"I was too late for love...And now all I had was one night only"

You know when you read a read a truly amazing book is when you are left speechless. Or when you are left feeling all the emotions. Or when it makes you feel. Or it makes you think a lot deeply about life when you finish. Or when you left a bubbling mess. One Night Only is that book that made me feel all this. Written by Abby Gale, One Night Only was a full blown emotional journey that touched my mind, heart and soul.

One Night Only is the most shortest novella I have read. I finished within 20 minutes but I was blown away that a short novella was able to inflict so much emotions within me. To me, it is a sign of a talented writer. I commend Abby Gale. The emotions in this book were so profound that they simply bled out into my soul and caused me to cry for a while. I was a mess. I am an emotional person but with this book it evoked more emotions out of me. One Night Only also had me thinking of life. You know life is too short. You love harder, hug people you love everyday, say' I love you', pursue your dreams etc before its too late. That's the beauty of this book that it makes you realize a lot more about life and death. One Night Only was not a book for enjoyment. No, it was a book with meaning and a book that just made you feel and captivated me to great lengths.

All I can say is give One Night Only a chance because it is a moving and beautiful story of girl with only one night left in her life.

There is not much you can develop in a 52 page novella. Things have to happen quick, and they did. The premise behind this is sad and has huge potential, but it all happened so quick that I couldn't connect to any of the feelings.

Make sure you have tissues near by and in your hand because you will need them, this story is FILLED with emotions I can't even begin to describe. It makes you think twice about life and how long we actually have because you truly don't know, you should live each day as if it's your last and just be happy. Beautifully written and the way Abby has written this story you feel as though you're right there, you're in the room experiencing it all yourself. This story will stay with you long after reading. I'm starting One Special Love next because I don't want to leave them, I want to more of their story and what happens after the fact. This is a MUST READ! This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

5 Stars to One Night Only by author Abby Gale.

Published: September 27, 2016
Read: March 19, 2017

One Night Only is a very short but poignant and heartbreaking prequel to One Special Love, which is being released this month.

April, a college student, is dying of cancer. Her pain and suffering is troubling and my heart went out to her and her family. There is nothing left the doctors can do for her. April is barely surviving each day, knowing that it could be her last. She regrets that she never got to experience many things. Love being the one she regrets the most.

Ashton was amazing and sweet. I absolutely loved him. His heart was gold and he gave it so easily to April, even knowing they could not have a future together. Both April and Ashton knew each other, and liked each other, from school. But neither made a move. And that is something they both regret very much.

But before it was almost too late, Ashton came through for April. He was there for her in every way for one night only. I'm not going to say anything more, only that this is a sad story and you better keep the tissues close by. Even though Ashton had so very little time with April, they formed a special bond and he was absolutely heartbroken by the end of this book. So was I. :(

The next book, One Special Love, will continue with Ashton and how he deals with his grief, regret and heartbreak. I recommend that you read this book beforehand. Trust me, you will appreciate his and what he goes through so much more if you do.

Going in, I know this book is something that is so different from my usual reads. And there’s a song stuck in my head that keeps repeating itself, more like an LSS. One Night Only Youtube song

“And now all I had was one night only...”

The problem I had with this book was that the character was full of negative energy. I get that. I feel that with everything she’s been through and the way she’s lived, she gets to be that. But I don’t like the complaining and I don’t quite enjoy it because of the feeling it evokes. It gets to my head, and sometimes, it screws me, too. If only she was a little more positive.

I also wanted more of the connection with Ashton. I mean, yes, crushes and love. But I didn’t feel that development of the feelings. The attraction was instant, the connection was there, but that it should develop to something more was something I quite miss.

I also wanted to feel the emotions of this book. But the tone that it invokes, it didn’t reach so deeply within me. I feel like crying but I can’t and I come up short with my feelings. Being once addicted to Koreanovela gives you a cold heart that’s hard to break.

Although the tone of this book was something I don’t like, delving deeper, it kinds of actually has a positive thing the author intended. Life is always unfair and we don’t get quite what we want, but this book tells you to be brave and always seize the moment. There are a dozen chances of something always happening that could lead our life into chaos or the way want it to be, so instead of second-guessing you’re decisions and feelings, why not try and reach for it. After all, in the end, whether we get it or night, the important thing is you acted on it. Even if the only thing you’ll get is One Night Only.

I hope this book was longer actually.

April is a college student with terminal cancer. As it takes it's hold and the pain increases April who has never believed in falling in love throws caution to the wind and sends her chemistry class crush Ashton a message to see if he will come spend one night only with her in hospital as it may be one of her last and he answers...
A short emotional novella I picked to read after the author mentioned the book on a thread someone had posted in one of my Facebook groups asking for 'Emotional teary reads'.
Although I found it in a way what happened that night quite unbelievable I tried to suspended my disbelief and see the romantic side. A powerful short story about life and it's last chances.

Wow. My heart broke more than I thought was possible. This was a short story yet it was extremely powerful. Never take life for granted.. You never know what could be round the corner. I honestly don't know if I found April a little selfish or brave. She was so strong. So accepting.
Beautiful, heart rendering words. One night only is a book you should experience, for the words, for the message and for the heartbreak.
I'm really looking forward to the next book. I'd definitely recommend it!

I normally don't get emotional over books but this one definitely left an impact. Jamie has cancer and wants just one night to be a normal girl with Ashton. This is a very short read but it leaves a lasting imprint. Can't wait to start One Special Love. One of my new favorite authors!!

You know those books that tug at your heartstrings?! Well this isn't one of those, this book snapped them! They were stretched to their max and just simply couldn't take any more and broke! I was a sobbing mess after reading this book, like we're talking ugly crying here! It took me longer to recover from the heartbreak than it did to read it.

This is a quick read that has one one of THE most powerful messages, live each day as if it were your last. I don't think I've ever been brought to tears so quickly while reading a book! There are so many emotions in this novella, and I will go to bed tonight appreciating the life I have just that much more. You're also reminded not to take anything for granted, as today is a gift and tomorrow isn't a promise. Life is just too damned short for it to be fully experienced.

I strongly recommend reading this novella and my only word of advice... tissue! Lots and lots of tissues!!

Wow I know this book is only short but it's was one of the most powerful reads I've read in a long time and makes you think about your life so much. If you only had one day have you done everything you wanted in life? Have you lived it happily and with no regrets? It made me appreciate what I do each day and to live each day as if it was your last!

This story is beautifully written and had me captivated from start to finish. I cried too. I feel like this book had a profound affect on me. I know that after reading it I will look at my day to day life a little differently. Love a little harder, hug a little longer and pay more attention to the small things.

I'm not even going to touch on the plot as I don't want to take anything away from a persons first read of this. I went in knowing only the blurb, which I've posted below.

April is a young twenty year old woman in the last stages of a cancer diagnosis. She has never believed in love, so has never looked for it. While trying to spend the last of her days as 'normally' as possible she attends college classes & crosses paths with Ashton in her chemistry class. She tries to ignore him but finds herself drawn to him in a way she has never been drawn to any one else before. When the pain from the cancer finally becomes unbearable April is taken to the hospital. She takes a chance knowing she doesn't have much time left & asks Ashton to be her boy friend for one night only. Will he come to her bedside? Will he be able to deal with her illness? Will April have her last chance at knowing love is real?

This was a beautiful & sad short story. The beginning of the books states that some parts are real & some are fiction. I praise the author for sharing such a personal story. Beware tissues my be necessary at the end.....

They say that life is too short and we should grab it with both hands,
But what if your time has always been short
every breathe,
every doctors visit,
Every operation,
Every.Day gets shorter and shorter,

If you knew the end is coming and you have just one night, to make it count so when you went to sleep you have something so precious to take with you....

Would you take it?

A short but powerful
Simple but heart breaking read.

Have you ever read a book that makes you sit back and reflect on life? To take a step back and ask yourself, “Have I really lived life to the fullest?” Abby Gale writes about heartache, and a person who has accepted what is really in store for her. April is almost at the end of her days. And she had never truly experience being in love. And then there is Ashton that she has been crushing on. April is brave and bold and asks Ashton to give her one night. One night of having it all. The passion, the love, the connection that April has truly needs.

One Night Only will emotionally rip you apart and at the end I had to put myself back together again. I was in tears and my family thought I lost it. I kind of did. Not in a bad way, but in a way that is hard to put in words. My next review will be on One Special Love. I had to continue on because I was left wanting more. This was a very short Novella, but it rips you apart and has you emotionally connected. Thanks Abby for a heart felt story!

I loved this novella, it left me speechless and in tears, have tissues close by. This was a well written short read, although tragic the plot and characters were very believable.

April is a college student, struck down with terminal cancer, she just wants to be a normal girl but normal is getting further from reach everyday. Aston in in her chemistry class and she is smitten with him from first sight although she does all she can to avoid him, until she is admitted to hospital and knows she doesn't have long left. She reaches out to Aston, to treat her like a normal girl, and he answers her call.

This novella has heart and soul, and tears...lots of tears. April has a very short time left and all she wants is one night with Ashton, the man she's crushed on for months. Finally building up her courage (and really, she has nothing to lose at this point!), she reaches out asking for one last, perfect night with the man of her dreams.
Ash has watched her for weeks, and jumps on the chance to fulfill both their fantasies, not knowing that one night is all they'll truly ever have.
This short prequel is a must read to introduce the characters in "One Special Love", but it stands on its own as a wonderful tale of first and last chances.

This short read had me gripped entirely throughout and I was able to devour it in one sitting. The story takes you on an emotional journey detailing the final wishes of young adult,April, who is dying of cancer. She has fallen in love with the gorgeous and mysterious Ashton. Will she be able to persuade him to stay with her, as her boyfriend, for one night only?

If you're looking for a good tearjerker, then this is definitely for you. It gripped my heart and had me in tears. This one will certainly stay with me for a long time.

OMG this book was so intense. It was a short story about a girl who is sick and she has one thing left that she wants to do. She has noticed one guy who she liked on campus and all she wanted was to spend one night with him. So she asked him if he would be willing to spend one night with her and she didn't think he would do it but she is totally surprised by his answer.

This is a short story of a girl who went through so many difficulties in her life. It had me in tears within like 10min of reading

This was really a beautiful story with so much human emotion. I cried myself in public reading this, got batshit mad and I felt like life was so damn unfair sometimes, but I also celebrated the goodness of humanity too. I ended up loving what thsi story represented and just wished for things could have been different for these young main characters.
