We ALL know Caps for Sale, right? Riiiiiight, that book!

Well, this book has much the same plot. Our peddler puts all his caps on his head, sells a few throughout the village, and then walks by the jail to take his rest. And a whole bunch of criminals has just been put in jail, so, on cue, they each reach out and snatch a cap for their head and laugh at him.

Well, first Pezzo laughs too. It's a very funny joke, after all - and could they please give him the caps back? And then he says it again, more loudly, and then he yells. But the prisoners, safe in jail, only laugh at him.

Now, at this point most people would just go inside and tell the jailer, but Pezzo decides to think about it a while. And as he's thinking, the firetruck goes by. Quick as a wink he declares that the fire is on the thief whole stole his hat, down come the hats, and everything is happy again.

It's not exactly the thriller of the century here, but it's bound to entertain any small child, especially one who already likes Caps for Sale. I mean, all the same elements are there still, right?
