My Thoughts - Story
Recently I have been flipping between the epic fantasy and apocalyptic genres, so this is a bit different than what I have been gobbling up. Another thing about the book that I hesitated at is that it is about a male…I normally levitate to more of a fe

The Siren Wakes is an interesting story. It is a strange twist on the end of the world. . . I think. To be honest, this is a hard story to figure out. The writing is captivating and keeps you wanting to continue just to see what happens next. But the writing is also it’s downfall. The story, as it’s written, is compelling yet very confusing.

Alex Nicholls tries to figure out who he is after waking up in the middle of a field with no memory of the past seven years beyond his own name. Now, this is

I don't always love sci-fi/fantasy books. In this case I am so happy I did. The book has action, suspense, a bit of romance and a ton of what the hell moments. Alex feels like he is not himself almost as if he is living a life that is not his. He wakes up in a field with no idea how he got there and discovers his life is not what he thought it was. He begins to find out the truth about the world and what he is. I really loved the plot it kept me guessing the whole book. Just when I thought I kne ...more

I don’t read much adult fiction, but this was fascinating. I like sci-fi dystopian and post-apocalyptic kinds of stories, the ones with twists of WEIRD. So this qualified. I loved the thread of mystery running through it; it was kind of Matrix-like in feel. The novel messes with your conception of what’s real and what’s reality, so you’re a bit off-kilter throughout—paralleling the main character, Alex, because he sometimes can’t tell either. Which is cool! I liked the slightly uncertain feel of ...more

Native to the UK, I was born in the Garden of England in the early 90s.

I was creative from a young age, always wrapped up in my own world and fantasies. I was a big reader from a young age, reading Les Miserables and Lord of the Rings while I was still in primary school.

I was fortunate enough to be able to travel a lot in my youth, from Hong Kong to Houston I experienced the world and gained a gre
