I loved the first one and Evans brings it again with the emotional rollercoaster. Lexie dealing with the aftermath of the first book, trying to work at defending her family from the guild, and the emotions of dealing with her dad. Now Lexie is dealing with her senior year of school and applying to colleges and with a new person that comes into her life that just annoys her to no end.

*I received a free e-arc from the publisher in exchange of an honest review. This does not affect my review in any way.*

On this second installment of the Lexie Carrigan Chronicles by S. Usher Evans, we meet again with Lexie and her family, the only difference is that shes now a senior working hard to get into the college of her dreams, and she now lives with her sister Nicole after the last events from the previous book. After that dreadful night where Cyrus appeared, Lexie has been studying

Evans' strength is always in her amazing characters. Lexie is an amazing protagonist; complicated, sarcastic, caring and self-doubting at times, and really, really funny. The minor characters also get more and more complex and interesting the more page time they get, especially the ones who seemed to be clear-cut villains in the first book of the series. I continue to love how magic works in this universe, and how frustrating it is for Lexie to try to use it without a lot of outside guidance. ...more

I enjoyed this book so much I flew through it and now I need more. Book 1 & 2 are equally good in this series and a fresh look at the world of magic. The characters are witty, clever, sarcastic and simply real.

I finished Spells and Sorcery just the other day and was anxious to start Magic and Mayhem. The second book in the Lexie Carrigan Chronicles has Lexie entering her senior year of high school, with one major downfall. James is attending the school and he's being his typical, jerk self.

Lexie has worked hard over the summer to protect her sister Nicole and the apartment they share. She's been studying everything she can to learn potions and to further her abilities. She hasn't heard from Marie

Wow. Just, wow. Sush has done it again.

Magic & Mayhem takes place around about two years after Spells & Sorcery and it seems to slow down the pace from the first book, but in a good way. It gives the reader a chance to learn more about Lexie and to get re-introduced to James, along with exploring how the events of the first book effected each character. We get shown more of Gavons character as well, through both Lexies experiences and through accounts given by other characters, which I

I loved Spells & Sorcery, the first book in S. Usher Evans Lexie Carrigan Chronicles. I enjoyed Magic and Mayhem, its second book at least as much if not more. This is YA at its best, with the genuine emotions, wit, sarcasm, love, betrayals and teenage angst youd expect but at the sane time with characters that are complex and nuanced rather than being black and white caricatures. So yes, we have Lexie with her not so good relationship with her sisters, but theyre genuine. Similarly, the new ...more
After reading this book, I wanted to write and post this review to share my honest experiences toward the story.

Book 1 in this series was amazing, book 2 really exceeded my expectations. Wonderful storyline with great characters and woven together so beautifully, youll never want to stop reading. I was completely hooked on the story, a fast paced urban fantasy that kept me turning pages, wanting to know. theres action, fantasy, some humor, and some clean romance, what more could you ask for?

High school drama, family, homework, relationships... and some magic. Lexie thinks that she has it all figured out, until a new guy comes into town. This new guy is the first one to truly understand her, and while things with her sisters may not be going smoothly, everything is headed in the right direction However, as the title suggests, nothing ever goes easily, and her father's world is will not stay safely tucked away.
Lexie is going to learn some hard lessons and come out stronger, but not

I actually enjoyed this one even more than the first novel! It takes place a couple of years after the first book ends and so many things have changed for the Carringan Sisters. Nichole is basically pretending she doesnt have any kind of magic at all, while Marie has ran off to god knows where, and during this time Lexie really grows into her magic. Lots of questions I had at the end of book 1 are answered, and Im left with even more for the next book!

Magic and mayhem is book two in the Lexie Carrigan series. Book one was hard to put down but I found it even harder to put this one down. The story line is great as well as the characters. Book two picks up sometime after book one. Lexie is now a senor in high school. Dealing with loss and love, guilt, magic and so much more. I can't wait to read book three

Absolutely loved this. The first book was great and book number two was awesome. An emotional rollercoaster that pulls you in and makes you cheer for the good guys. It gives you all the feels. I can't wait to dive into the next book! The author is amazing at story telling and weaving a story that you have to keep reading to see what happens.

This book was sooo good. I really loved it. The James twist was and I really thought he'd changed. Not that I didn't have my doubts. Yet I am still not convinced all of it was a hoax. Somehow I believe it was one of Cyrus's plans and he just got used by him.

Can't wait to read next book. This is again quite highly recommended. I read it overnight so it might well be worth it.

Another great addition to the series! Lexie is dealing with her grief, and still trying to find her way. When Gavons apprentice shows up at Lexies school, shes unsure whether hes a threat or not. While shes struggling with her family divide, she befriends James. When her world implodes again, she has to figure out how to deal with whats being dealt to her again. Cant wait for book three! ...more

It's been 18 months since Lexie was thrown into the world of magic and was burned by Gavon, her own father (not that she will ever call him that!). She's finally gotten to a point in her life where she can focus on her senior year of high school and getting into her top college choice of Georgetown. Then Gavon's apprentice shows up at school and throws Lexie's whole future into question.

MAGIC AND MAYHEM picks up a bit after the first book, but I got right into it. Lexie has a tendency to get in

What I Liked:

1) Lexie really came into her powers at the end of book 1.
2) I loved how protective Lexie was of her sisters and taking care of their home.
3) Lexie became really feisty and I LOVED it.
4) James. Enough said.

What I Didn't Like:

1) Even though I only rated it 4 stars, I honestly can't think of much that I didn't like.
2) The only thing being that it just doesn't grab me like my normal 5 star reads but it was still Fantastic.

I really enjoyed the sequel to Spells and Sorcery, and I

I always worry that second or third books in a series won't hold up when compared to the first, but Magic and Mayhem did not fail me. I love all the characters and enjoy seeing how Lexie handles everything life throws at her (because honestly, I would fall apart in her shoes :p )
