Holly Martin made me fall in love. I am in love with Christmas! I want to go there, have a nice vacation, watch merrie dancers, feed reindeers and hang out with village people. I'd also like to eat some delicios food.
Too bad this place called Christmas exists only in imagination, because I am sure it would be a hit, a place so many people would love to visit one day.

It is September, but my Christmas Spirit is fully awake! Holly Martin can take the blame, but let me tell you the true: I don't mi

Holly Martin is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. She has a way of warming you up inside and will have you falling in love with all the characters from the very beginning of CHRISTMAS UNDER A CRANBERRY SKY. You can’t help but care for Piper. She is damaged where love is concerned, and very fragile, but she goes out of her way to help those she cares about. Gabe is my new book boyfriend who I thought was an uptight snob in the beginning but the way he protects Piper and looks out for h ...more

Piper has been reviewing hotels for years and before she takes a break from it, she is spending Christmas at Stardust hotel on Juniper Island, where she is also assigned to work. On the very first day she meets her first boyfriend, whom she hasn't seen for 12 years. Their meeting is surprising and bittersweet for both of them, because they both broke each other's heart without knowing it. As Christmas is approaching Pip and Gabe don't have a lot of time to make things right, but falling in love ...more
Holly Martin has done it again! She’s created a fantastic island community, shared many details about the location and community living there to bring it vividly to life in the imagination of the reader. I’d love to visit there and meet everyone! Her characters aren’t characters, they are people you’re privileged to meet and get to know so they become virtual friends for whom you care and empathise with. It is a brilliant start to a new festive series, as the tag line says, it really is “a perfe ...more

I have a confession to make. I’m bit obsessed with Christmas. Think Buddy the Elf. So naturally when I saw this title on Netgalley I was thrilled! I know what you may be thinking, it’s September Amy! Why would you even be thinking about Christmas?! Well folks, that’s what I do. I start thinking about next Christmas on December 26th. So basically, I never stop thinking about it. Enough about me, let me get to the point here. This book really got me even more into
This book is perfection. It's Christmas and winter wonderland perfection. I have almost no words how much I liked this book.

Within the first few pages I was already sure I was going to love this book. The atmosphere and scenery was simply amazing.
The description of the hotel, the igloos, the ice palace, the little village with those magical shops was just perfect. There were so many little and wonderful things which created such a magical atmosphere. The combination of all this made it an absolu
This book is a really cute, entertaining read. And this comes from with someone obsessed with rom-coms set around Christmas, a self-proclaimed expert.
The plot and characters are well-developed, the whole setting is wonderful, the writing is on point, the Christmas atmosphere is weaved throughout the text in a perfect manner. It's a perfect read for the holiday season.

I was born 3 days before Christmas which means Christmas fiction is my speciality reading time of year. Holly Martin is one of my favourite authors who blends in the most delightful characters with a story that can make me fall in love with all the scenes. What I like the most about Holly Martin is her flair for her imagination to make every book so perfect with the places and characters. The front cover is beautiful it glitters, very eye catching that looks just like a sparkling Christmas card. ...more

Having just finished and been astounded by Christmas Under A Cranberry Sky, I think I am fairly safe in declaring Holly Martin a queen of the Christmas book, so with that in mind I am delighted that there is a second book in this series out soon.

But let's talk about this one first, from the simply gorgeous cover, to the simply stunning setting, I really didn't want this book to end, everything about it is pure enjoyment, designed to get you in the festive spirit. I can't believe its September a

Christmas..... what's not to love??! And when you find yourself reading this in October it immediately transports you to December and all the wonderful sights and sounds of the festive season!

And it is set in just the perfect place - Juniper Island which is the most northern isle of the scottish islands and it is just the most idyllic place! The perfect location for the Stardust Lake Hotel to open for business!

I adored the festive setting in this (so atmospheric!), but didn't really "feel" the romance at all. It was far too back-and-forth for my liking, and ultimately you knew what was going to happen. I enjoyed Christmas Under a Cranberry Sky, but perhaps not enough to carry on with the series. ...more

The story centers around Pip and Gabe, who’ve known each other since childhood, fell in love in high school, broke up, ran into each other again after being apart for twelve years. Discovering that their breakup came from a misunderstanding, they ask themselves if they can pick up where they left off and start all over again.

The backdrop of the book was beautiful; Stardust Lake Hotel with its ski-resort like log cottages, a Christmas-themed village close by that sells handmade crafts, Northern L

I just absolutely LOVED this book. Holly Martin just completely wows you with her beautiful writing, wonderful characters and great story. From the first page, I was absorbed and could not stop reading. I was rooting for Piper and Gabe. I LOVED Juniper Island and absolutely want to visit. So evocatively described, I felt like I was there with Piper. This is a beautiful, feel good, Christmas book that has you celebrating no matter what time of the year you read it. Early October. The time of year when books start appearing with Christmas in the title, a nice wintery cover and then a story that actually contains just the briefest of allusions to the festive season. Then there's the few that are all about Christmas and Christmas Under a Cranberry Sky is one of those books. It was just magical, there's no other word for it. It has been far too long since I picked up a book by Holly Martin and when I glanced over the glowing reviews coming in almost daily for ...more

Really enjoyed this book. This book was perfect for the time of year and made me want to go to a place like this, Christmas all year round would be so much fun. Ended with an open ending so am looking forward to the next installment. Haven't read anything by this author before but will be tempted to get any others I see with her name on. Was a very festive novel and couldn't wait to find out what happened with all the characters ...more

Christmas under a cranberry sky is the story of Pip and Gabe, childhood friends who became each others first loves. Unfortunately it all ended tragically. Fast forward to the future and Pip is a mystery reviewer of hotels across the world. Little does she know that she is known as Mr Black a reviewer who can put hotels out of buisness. Christmas Under a Cranberry Sky is my first Christmas book this year, and it’s going to be hard to beat. Now I can be a bit of a Bah Humbug at Christmas, and want it to be over as soon as possible. What Holly has managed to do, is put me completely in the mood for the upcoming season.

Piper Chesterfield (Pip) had the most horrendous of childhoods, and has a fear of rejection. When, after a devastating experience she seeks help from the love of her life, she sees him embracing another woman, and f

I love Christmas and I love Holly's books so it was a no-brainer when Holly asked if I would take part.

Christmas under a Cranberry Sky offers you everything you could want in a christmas romance book.

Let's start by talking about the main characters.

First off we have Piper or Pip as she is sometimes known. Pip has spent the last 12 years reviewing hotels all over the world. From the g

I truly am a Holly Martin fan. I know I read a lot of Crime but I also love a book that I can curl up with and that gives me the magical and fairy tale ending that sometimes I like to see. Thankfully Holly's books never fail to disappoint and the fact that this is a Christmas book is even better! The covers of her books are also so appealing and when I saw the image on the front with the cosy log cabin I couldn't wait to get stuck in.

With thanks to Netgalley and my favourite publisher Bookoutre for this ARC in exchange for an open and honest review.

She is due to spend Christmas and New Year at the Stardust Lake Hotel on Juniper Island. Piper has been travelling constantly for the magazine and is due to start a 6 month sabbatical after this job.

While a cute premise, this was all too cheesy for me to really enjoy.

I didn't struggle to get through it, as it was an easy read, but the repetitive nature of the conversations, and the way each character waxed philosophical during what was meant to be casual conversation made this less enjoyable than I was hoping it would be.

The conversations between the characters felt not just forced, but as if they were written in a way that was very obviously trying to sound natural and realistic but ended

This is the first in a new series called A Town called Christmas, set on Juniper Island, but it's not the first I've read by this author, I've loved all Holly Martin's books and this latest one is no exception. Holly, from page one you pulled me into the story of Gabe and Pip and I was captured until the very last page.

I wasn’t expecting much from this, I just wanted a fluffy cute trashy Christmas romance to devour during my flight home for the holidays.

Ultimately it was..........not good. So much so that I DNFed it at 40%.

The writing style was clunky and weirdly formal, with the dialogue failing to even vaguely resemble a normal human interaction. The characters all sound and act like robots; there’s no feeling to anything they do. And MY GOD the exposition was truly atrocious. The author left nothing to th

With these sort of books you'll notice the difference between American authors and British authors. I don't have a special preference, but sometimes you crave an American based book and sometimes you prefer the British based one.

This book is technically based in the United Kingdom, but I didn't always notice it when reading. Sometimes it had a American feel to it. Which is a pity because I read this book assuming it's a British based and British written book.

I did have difficulty reading it, s

I am so happy that Holly Martin comes back with a new series!!!!! Christmas Under a Cranberry Sky is the first book of this series. The story is taking place in a small village called Christmas on the small island of Juniper, part of the Shetland islands. What a great setting for a Christmas book!!!!! Everything is here, the magic, the snow, the beautiful landscapes, the quiet and peacefulness, the aurora borealis... and little cottages.... It's my dream to go and spend Christmas in such a place ...more
