I read Big Book Of Who: The 101 stars of baseball Every Fan Needs To Know. This book is about popular baseball athletes that are well known and have lots of followers. For example Odell Beckham Jr is a football player for the New York Giants and makes millions or dollars and was also rookie of the year. Not all athletes have to be rich to be famous. But thats an example of another sport this book is only focused in baseball. Babe Ruth is one of the most iconic baseball players of all time and he wasn't exactly known to be rich. He was one of the best baseball players of all time now a days good baseball players get a lot of money from people who want them on they're team. My favorite athlete mentioned is Derek Jeter because he is a baseball player on the New York Yankees. He is one of the best short stops ever and he has over 3 thousand hits (very hard to do.) So I read this book and I loved it very recommended!

I recommend this book to other readers if they like baseball because this covers 101 baseball stars. This book is amazing to me it gives so much background information and lists a ton of facts. Baseball is personally one of my favorite sports and this book gives a lot of information. You could read this book and have not even heard of baseball in your life but now you know 101 of all the best players in the sport. So thats why I recommend this book to other people because it is very descriptive and also has all facts in it none of its fiction!

Brief description: A photo filled book about baseball and its famous players.

Identify at least 2 characteristics of this genre and subgenre and discuss how they appear in your book.
Big Book of Who: Baseball, is a book for kids interested in baseball. The book includes information about a number of baseball players, past and present and the various major records in baseball. It is heavily illustrated and all the text is presented within caption boxes. The book is divided into 5 chapters/categories and there is an easy to follow index of players in the back of the book. The pictures of the players catch the eye of the reader and the fast facts and stories keep kids interested. For an adult the pages can seem too ‘busy’, but my son loves the book and enjoys telling me all the baseball facts and records as he is reading. The short captions, entitled, “Fast Facts”, are easy for him to understand and the longer text he sometimes asks for clarification. It would most likely be considered picture-book/identification book. This book is part of a collection about sports for kids that Sports Illustrated created.

In what ways and how well does the book as a whole serve its intended audience?
Kids who love baseball will enjoy both the pictures and the information.
