Book collecting has long been a popular hobby, and it continues to grow in popularity. This revised and updated edition of The Official Price Guide to Books has everything a book collector needs. It features black-and-white photographs and includes an eight-page color insert of exceptional book covers.
The Official Price Guide to Books also includes:
· A history of the book trade · Current market review and forecast · Thousands of price listings covering hundreds of years of first editions · Information about genre-collecting · Advice on maintaining your collection · Expert instruction on how to profit from bibliophilia · A handy glossary and recommended reading list
This book had some great information but compared to some other books that I have read on the subject it seemed a little less in depth and a little more like an overview. I did enjoy the interview questions asked to the book shop owners of different genre's which was insightful. The price guide at the back of the book is nice because where many price/value guides list only first edition or first edition signed, this book actually has some other editions listed as well. Overall I would recommend this book to someone learning about books.
The price lists were pretty incomplete, online is a much better way to research that. But the collector tips & info in the front of the book were very insightful. My prized first edition of Devil in the White City is not worth too much, but I only paid fifty cents for it so I would consider it an excellent investment.
