This is a book of quotes with amazing illustrations. At first blush, you might roll your eyes at the quotes and brevity but Lou makes a whole lot of sense.

If you need a quick boost/ pick-me-up, this book is great to make you feel fearless and invincible.

If you want more writing material to read, this book is not for you.

Rating: 3.5/5

Favourite Quote: “You can be ordinary and wonderful at the same time.”

I knew this was an inspirational book but did not really know what I was getting; perhaps it is just another cute but trite daily inspiration book.

It is and it isn't. I am pleasantly surprised by the thought points in this book. Instead of just passing it along as I have other books of this sort, I find myself looking at it again and again. The challenges are creative, thought provoking and even a bit daunting. There are a couple I am not ready for yet and will go back and try again in the future.
"Try new tricks."
"Step out from your hiding place"
"Be wary of pretty things."
"Only take the necessary precautions."
"Make progress in small steps." (A good reminder)
"Don't be afraid of the past"
"Stand your ground"
"Find someone to help you"
"When it's dark turn on the light"
Perhaps the timing was just good, perhaps I turned to the right pages, but I like this little book and its line drawings.
I like that it is hardcover and stitched as well as glued too.
I didn't give it five stars because I dunno why - some vague perception of what a five star book should be I guess. No offense meant to the book or its author.

I received this book because I won a drawing in a book group. These are my own thoughts on this book for today.

This book means a lot to me, as my mother got it for me for my graduation. I've just finished my associates degree at a local school and am about to depart from my family, to move 4 hours away and continue on with my bachelors degree. This cute little book, Brave New Girl was my mother's way of telling me it's okay to move on and be my own person, which anyone who knows me personally, knows how hard that will be for me.

This book is full of quick and cute little pieces of mom wisdom, that I know will help me get through some of the toughest days. Whether I'm reading a quote that says "Reach For The Stars," or "Call It A Day," I know I will always find what I need in here. There is also some cheeky illustrations that go with each phrase.

I would highly recommend this book to be gotten from any mother to their daughters as they embark on a new journey.

this is a cute and simple picture book with simple drawings (think stick figure characters) and one line phrases. Sometimes I feel that the artist drew the pictures and once a book deal came along they had to throw some phrases to go with the pictures and it didn't mash up well together. Otherwise it is a decent book to look through.

This book is perfect for any woman, of any age. I bought this book for my 13 year old sister for her 8th grade graduation. The book empowers young women to be invincible, and to go for their dreams, no matter how big or small.

This is probably better characterized as a gift book or inspirational book than a comic book or graphic novel. It's a series of drawings featuring Brave New Girl, a character who inspires us to be powerful, fearless, and to overcome every obstacle. It's cute and was fun to flip through and would make a good graduation gift to someone who enjoys this kind of book. It's not something I would probably purchase for myself, but I enjoyed looking through it.

A book full of inspiration - quick and commonly used motivational phrases accompanied by a creative and simple illustration. The perfect flip-through book for moments when women need reminders of how brave and strong they can be and are.
