Having selected and bought this book to prepare for a review on MBTI, I thought it to be an introductory resource on the subject that would help me find my way through the subject fast. Did the book deliver? The structure of the book imitates the Myers-Briggs Personality Inventory, an approach that makes the publication easy to read. Even when searching for specific information on a type and its traits, there is no problem finding the needed information straight away. The booklet presented by the authors delivers on its promises. It is a resource of the “starter” type, and its value lies in its presentation of the essentials. It is designed for readers who want to have a summary or an abstract on the subject, while being introduced in the process to the MBTI Test Survey with all the questions that are presented, even with a way to exploit the answers and to know one’s own type. On the cover page, the work is announced with the promise of helping “to understand yourself and others”, and indeed it delivers on this objective. The value of the compilation of personality types is certainly that it stays simple (basic), easy to read and grasp the essential elements of the 16 personality types. It would have been nice though to find a synoptical table with the characteristics of each and every type, to be able to compare and see the differences. Verdict, 4.25 stars out of 5.0.
