This book was so bizarre. I'm don't usually read time travel books. I just don't really get into them, but this is more of a memory time travel.

Io can replay memories, just the thought makes me cringe because I know I would replay all of my bad memories.

But one night something happens and she is thrown around in the past. She's lost herself in a sense. I thought the book was okay enough and I did enjoy Io and Talia's friendship together. They were just two lost souls trying to help one another

This astounding historical fiction, incorporating time-travel, magical realism and Victorian London, captivated my attention from the very first page. And had captured my heart by the end of it.

Following the stories of present day Io and her 19th century ancestor, Talia, The Living Memory explores the relationship between where we came from and where we are going. Incorporating historical fact with creative imagination allowed both the present and past worlds to come to life inside the pages of

When I started this book, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. I knew it had elements of time travel, fantasy and historical fiction, but what I didn't expect was the way all aspects of the book would brilliantly wind together to produce such an amazing story line, that captivates you from the get-go!

The story follows Io, a special 14 year old girl, as she discovers her incredible gifts and how she can use them from her perfect memories; however, she also unveils hidden dangers with her abilit

Io has an extraordinary memory power that means she can recall anything from any situation. In trying to ‘trick’ her memory into avoiding a situation, she finds herself inhabiting others’ memories and getting trapped in the past. She becomes stuck in Victorian times with her relative Talia, who has similar powers. Io wishes to return to her own time and life, but Talia is at first reluctant to help her, viewing Io as an unwanted manifestation in her thoughts. Talia’s gift means that she is in de ...more

The Living Memory
Remarkable book. I thoroughly enjoyed it on several levels. The two main characters, connected through time, share extraordinary mental gifts. But one of them, Talia, takes her building blocks of perfectly recalled memories and uses her powerful imagination to spin them into a vivid fantasy world. The authors' descriptions of that world are beautifully written and spark the reader's imagination as well. Combine that with an amazingly evocative portrayal of 1850s London and a sus

Wow! Loved this book! It had elements of so many of my favourite themes in one book! Mystery, suspense, historical fiction, fantasy and more! The concept and imagination behind the premise is fascinating and had me reading the entire book in practically one go! Would definitely recommend this book! Fantastic debut novel and I look forward to reading more!

Proper page turner. Beautiful language . The pace is fast, but not like a thriller. you are carried with the narrative, getting more involved with the characters without an inkling of what's going to happen next.

A great little book for young adult. A nice view of Victorian London. Full of suspense and a bit supernatural. Great read!

Io has a gift. Her extraordinary memory allows her to relive and readjust everything she ever saw, felt or lived. But, one day, her exploits of her gift go a little too far and Io finds herself trapped out of her real life and in somebody else’s memories. Talia is a mesmerist’s assistant in Victorian London and she doesn’t seem at all happy with her unexpected guest – or delusion. But they both share the same gift and Talia can make wonders with her memory. As they start to discover the things t ...more

This is a beautifully written story that I'd recommend highly to anyone who enjoys fantasy and young adult fiction. The story follows Io, a yound girl who, through misusing her power to recall any memory from her past, gets stuck in the past, in Victorian London with her ancester Talia. The imagery used to describe Talia's imagination is really beautiful and it's also interesting to travel around the familiar streets of Victorian London with the characters. You get a real sense that Io and Talia ...more
