Lord Snowdon was commissioned, in 1980, to undertake a photographic essay of Tasmania, covering as much of the picturesque island as possible in the time available. the main purpose of the project was to set up an exhibition and to publish a comprehensive book of the Tasmanian photographs. 'Tasmania Essay' is the result. The book is a selection from the many photographs taken. More than 150 are reproduced in full color.

Antony Charles Robert Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon, is an English photographer and Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker who sits in the House of Lords by a life peerage granted him in 1999. He was married to Princess Margaret from 1960 to 1978. Despite his divorce from Princess Margaret, he maintains a close relationship with the Royal Family and occasionally takes official photographs of the Queen.

Antony Charles Robert Armstrong-Jones, 1st Earl of Snowdon, GCVO, RDI, commonly known as Lord Snowdon, was an English photographer and film maker. He was married to Princess Margaret, younger daughter of King George VI and younger sister of Queen Elizabeth II. (Source: Wikipedia).
