I blew through this book in two days, hoping to learn a little about the struggles of Avery Johnson and personal relationships.

It got off to a good start and the book was good, but because I have been reading a slew of these biographies about chasing your dream, the impact was a little dulled.

I find that a lot of these 'breakthroughs' and pearls of wisdom that celebrities are trying to pass down to us are all very similar to what I learned at the Tony Robbins seminar. The good thing about the Tony Robbins seminar is that he shows you how to apply certain systems to live an extraordinary life and live each day fulfilled. In the end, the lessons to be successful are all the same:

1. Decide what you want
2. Stay committed and pursue your dream relentlessly
3. Be resilient
4. Be committed but not attached to your goal
5. Don't forget to be grateful for everything that you have
6. Have a focus and believe that you can do whatever it is you want to do and don't let anyone's negative thoughts enter your mind or dissuade you from your ambitions.

Its all just packaged differently or into different stories.

I'd give the book 3.5 stars.

Very good.... gives the reader a background glance into the life of star author, Avery Johnson, and how he progressed to the position of head coach for the Dallas Mavs.

Through the book, he created a combination of life lessons and motivational mottos along with sharing his background in backetball, personal life, and his current personal beliefs.

Very interesting although at times, a bit repetitive... all in all, a good read.

Avery Johnson gives a straightforward and simple account of his time and success in the NBA. He translates the winning principles and standards that took him through basketball into all areas of life. For those going through a rough patch, his words will encourage us to reach for victory.

I think this is a pretty solid book, I took this book under my wing when I was going through similar struggles and emotions.
