~Non-stop fun and action
~I picked up this book simply because I’d read several of the other books written by the same author, in a different genre. I was interested to see what she had to offer in a Sci-fi/Fantasy story. I was taken in to the story from the very first page…and continued to enjoy the action, the problem solving, and the banter among main characters.
~It did not take me long to figure out that this was an excellent YA (Young Adult) book…and totally enjoyable to read as an adult

As an early chapter book for young boys and girls, this book has a lot to offer - video games, magic, dragons, sibling rivalry, and a mom who is not a helicopter parent.
Parents who still read stories to their children will enjoy this book too. There are characters with distinct voices and enough description and action to keep the listener interested.

"When Scott looked up, he found a lance pointing at his chest and the silent, menacing figure of the Knight standing over him. After what seemed like forever, the Knight spoke. "Friend or foe?" he demanded in a muffled voice. In Barbara Venkataraman's The Fight for Magicallus 10-year old Scott and his 7-year-old brother Josh must make friends with many new and sometimes frightening characters. They rely on these allies, and each other, to try to restore peace in the land of Magicallus

Really enjoyable story, the narrator did a brilliant job. The Author captured the brother relationship really well, had me smiling in places.

kindle unlimited but got this one on freebie day or something because shows bought on amazon, saw 2 different covers {liked the first one better} and felt this one was more of 4 1/2 but had to figure out since no halfs which way, but there was just some things 'off' about it. At end said there was book 2 but don't see any other record of that, but listed title given at end of book lists anyway

So, this was a kid-friendly game-lit story, with all of the elements of old school fantasy: goblins, dragons, knights, etc. It was a fun listen, even as an adult, but very safe for all ages. I would like to see it as a movie, as the plot is fulfilling, even in the short story format, and so a movie could actually do the book justice. The narration is great. I don't think I've heard this particular narrator before, but she is going on my list of excellent voice actors.

Delightful novella for teens and adults!

I love Barbara Venkataraman 's Jamie Quinn cozy mystery series, so I thought I'd try her other books while waiting for the next Jamie book. I was not disappointed by The Fight for Magicallus. While clearly written for younger readers, it has a great plot, likeable and believable young brothers, humor and action as the brothers are magically transported into a fantasy computer game. This book is short and a fast read, well edited and written in a way that

The Fight for Magicallus — Barbara Venkataraman (13 chapters)[Kindle Unlimited] Dec. 3, 2019

Fun, quick read. Aimed at younger readers, older readers/kids at heart will find it delightful. I have read other books by this author, but never one from this genre. My creative side is impressed with her ability to relay a great story/message aimed at younger readers. Plot and characters moved very well with each other and along the timeline. This is a story that will delight all of your senses. The

The Fight for Magicallus by Barbara Venkataraman

Josh and his brother love playing video games, especially "The Fight for Magicallus". Somehow they end up in the game. Soon they come face to face with knights, dragons & goblins. The boys must find an ancient book before the land of Magicallus will be no more.

A fun adventure. The boys are very likable, the enemies they encounter are fierce. There is a nice camaraderie between the brothers and it was fun to see how the story unfolds. Middle
