A book which wears its politics on its sleeve as it impressively synthesises the 16th to 20th Centuries of Cuban history. Despite sometimes dry and poorly edited text, it gives an excellent insight into the country's past as the revolutionary government sees it. Because it is clear about its ideology, this can be taken into account when trying to interpret it.
