Her Soldier's Solace
Charlene's soldier, the man who convinced her to leave her abusive husband, disappeared in Afghanistan a year ago, but she's never given up on him. The army won't tell her where Relic is and neither will his brothers.
When her sister convinces her to take a birthday trip to New York City, she welcomes the distraction, but she can't stop thinking about the man who captured her heart all those months ago.
A visit to exciting Club Prive takes her mind off of him for the first time in too long, but when a mysterious man there focuses on her, she starts to question everything she thought she knew.
She has one slim chance to discover the truth, if she's brave enough to take it.

Rereading Her Soldier’s Solace reminded me why this story hit so hard the first time. Charlene’s journey is emotional from the start—she’s a woman who finally found the courage to leave an abusive marriage, only to lose the one man who made her believe in safety and hope again. Relic disappeared in Afghanistan a year ago, and even with the army silent and his brothers refusing to talk, she’s never stopped believing he’s out there.
Her sister’s birthday trip to New York is supposed to be a distraction, a chance to breathe for the first time in too long. But even surrounded by the noise and excitement of the city, her thoughts keep drifting back to the soldier who changed everything for her. A visit to Club Prive finally pulls her out of her head—until a mysterious man’s attention forces her to question everything she thought she knew.
The tension, the emotion, the quiet strength in Charlene’s character… it all lands just as powerfully on a reread. Ladew blends suspense and romance beautifully, giving you a heroine to root for and a mystery that keeps you turning the pages. Charlene’s one slim chance at the truth is risky, raw, and full of heart, and watching her step into that moment is incredibly satisfying.
A short, gripping, emotional read that delivers exactly what I love about Lisa Ladew’s stories. Happy reading.

While this is a continuation of Charlene's Soldier, this novella can easily be read as a stand alone. I haven't read the first but now I find myself wanting to go back to see how this relationship started. Charlene and Relic first met while she was going through a divorce. Relic is a soldier fighting in Afghanistan and each time he has leave, Charlene and Relic spend it together. Based on the letters between the two, Charlene is convinced the two have a future together but then the letters suddenly stop. And this is where the story begins.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this story because if you've read anything by Lisa Ladew you know that her books always feature romance with lots of suspense mixed in. This story was all romance, not a single bad guy. It was a very enjoyable romantic novella. It is a part of the Club Prive Kindle World but even if you've never read anything in the Club Prive series this will be a great read.

Her Soldier's Solace
This is an absolutely touching story of loss andsecond chance love. Lisa Ladew creates pictures with her words and it seems as if you are right there with the characters watching the story unfold. This is the second half of Charlene's and Relics story and it will entice you from beginning to end. The anguish and pain Relic went through after Afghanistan is depicted in detail so that you can feel why he made the decision he did to walk away from Charlene. The story really made an impact on me and the ending was exactly as I wished.

This is the continuation of Charlene and Relic's story from Charlene's Soldier. After rerunning to Afganistan, Relic's team is ambushed and he reruns stateside for surgeries and rehabilitation. Throughout his healing process, he becomes hateful and doesn't inform, the one person who loves him unconditionally, Charlene, out of fear of rejection. On a trip to New York with her sister, Charlene unknowingly meets the man of her dreams. Can she forgive him when she learns the truth?

I was really pleased to find out after reading Charlene's Soldier that Lisa had written another book to complete this story as the first finished without an ending as such. Having said that I should have known it wouldn't be straight forward, there would be bumps in the road to happiness. Charlene stayed strong even not knowing the why, I loved her dedication in trying to find out and then just waiting. For Relic I could understand his reasons to some degree, he had a lot to deal with and insecurity because of those reasons, at the same time though I did feel he knew how strong the connection was and could have made a small contact through letter. I was sad because he missed out on support and love. So even though I understood and felt compassion for him I also had a little small amount of frustration with him. This is a well written story full of angst and hurt, but it is also full of hope and love. It felt raw and real, it had my emotions all engaged and my hopes high.

And They Lived Happy Ever After Until Their Child Hit The Age 16
Loved this Ending best. Great story of the trial of a injury Military Vet. So many need family or spouses to back them up, understand their feelings, nightmares, and doubts on their worth.

Okay so this is a short novella but a must read. First if you haven't read Charlene's Soldier then just hop, skip, jump and one click that bad boy. I was SO excited that the author did a conclusion for Charlene. I mean you know you wanted her to get her HEA.
Charlene - We watch her grow and develop as she is now a divorcee. She is stronger and capable of so much. Her hope is what is keeping her going and ultimately leads to the HEA she was destined to have.
Relic - I love this strong, silent, knight in combat gear. He is completely amazing as a character. I do however want to smack him some because he is such a guy with the logic.
I don't want to spoil this short story because I could go on, and on, and on about the fantastic parts. That would just be a travesty to ruin the experience for you. SO - if you haven't read this you need to. If you haven't read this author before I HIGHLY recommend starting at Heat 1 and going from there. You will never be left disappointed and will fall in love with so many characters.

Great read...
Short, sweet and heartfelt. Great ending to a beautiful and very real in today's society. Sexy and dramatic. At times predictable but oh so delightful to read.

A fantastic compliment to Charlene's Soldier. Charlene has lost touch with her beloved Relic after one of his tours. She fears he is dead but her heart says he is still alive. She cannot find him but her sister finds him and plans a weekend in New York to fix her sisters breaking heart. Relic is afraid of what his Charlene will think after what happened to him in action. Will she be able to look past the scars and love him? Well, it is an HEA so you can guess she moves past these issues but the path they take is interesting and sweet. Entering the world of Club Prive for the first time lead me to read the MS Parker Series which this compliments it very well.

This is the 1st book I have read by Lisa Ladew. I can't wait to read more of her books. I bought this book because of the Club Prive association.
This is a heart wrenching story about Charlene and Relic. Well written story of a nurse, Charlene, and her love of a soldier, Relic. Yes there is a HEA. It is a Club Prive novel after all.
The story brings us back to New York's Club Prive. This book fits in well with M.S. Parker's Club Prive series and the books in the Club Prive Kindle Worlds series.
I highly recommend this book and all the Club Prive series.

I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Charlene is an overworked nurse who is still in love with Relic. But she hasn't heard from him in over a year. She doesn't know if he is dead or alive but lives in hope. And then her sister Kerry gets in on the search and finds out the truth. This story was so moving. I haven't read the one before this yet, but I will. It sounds like Relic helped her face some demons in the first with her ex. Relic is scarred from war and doesn't think Charlene would want someone broken like him. A surprise reunion that just melts your heart ♡ .

Absolutely loved that Charlene found Relic again, true love never ends and remains in your heart. Glad Relic was given a second chance thanks to Charlene's sister playing Cupid.
So much realistic details in this story, very moving and thanks for the HEA
I was given an ARC for my honest review, it's hard not to love all of Lisa's books. This one wasn't available on Amazon.ca not sure if it will be either. :( But if not this is her second instalment in Charlene and Relic's love story so be sure to check out the first book. Charlene's soldier

Oh my! Fantastic story with emotion that pulled at me from the start. Charlene is heartbroken, living in sadness since her loss. I love that Kerry, her sister, pushes her to go on vacation and takes her to Club Prive. It's a chance to open back up, find that missing connection again. There is an amazing sweetness, heat, strength to never give up and so much emotion from beginning to end that this is a must read!

Another amazing story by Lisa Ladew. The continuing story of Charlene and Relic. The story begins with Charlene in despair wondering why she hasn't heard from Relic. Love the integration of the story with the Club Prive world from M.S. Parker's stories.
