Robert L. Wise, Ph.D. is the author or coauthor of twenty-four books. He is a bishop in the communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches and has planted churches around the world. Dr. Wise and his wife, Margueritte, live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

While reading this, this classic hymn kept running through my head:

Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

Dr. Wise has given some "wise" advice on how the modern Christian can experience a closer walk with the risen Christ. (Sorry, couldn't resist the pun.)

I would have given this book five stars if the author had not made two serious mistakes:
1. The author contends that Satan wanted Jesus to be crucified. That is wrong. Satan was trying desperately to stop the crucifiction. Satan is not stupid. He knows Jesus can never cease to exist. The author perpetuates this mistake by repeating it several times. The author should have reviewed all theological statements in the book before publication.
2. The author complains about capitalism and how unfair it is. It is too bad the author could not have provided an example of a better economic system. If there is one, it hasn't been invented yet. History does not lie. By making such a statement about how unfair capitalism is, the author casts himself as a foolish man, which I am sure he is not. Unfortunately, anyone who is considering following Jesus, but is not sure, is probably going to be turned off by such complaints.
