As a lifelong Pennsylvanian, I’ve (Ruth Price) had a unique opportunity to meet Amish folks in my everyday life. It’s a delight to get to know a culture and people who may have a different way of living but share a common love of God and a common belief in the goodness of other human beings. I try to channel this higher good through my fiction, and while I can’t say I always reach that ideal, I hope my stories inspire and entertain. This is the first book in this series I have read. Annie marries Samuel Stauffer and she tries out living an Englishers life. She finds things she likes, but her Amish roots are calling to her. Plus, married life is a big adjustment for both of them. They have an argument which leads Annie to stay at her dad's house. Meanwhile Aaron keeps trying to get Annie to leave Samuel. I thought that was crazy of him to try to woo a married woman away from her husband. I liked the ending and the church they decide to join.
Hooper’s Pond. Annie Miller (15) was watching Samuel Stauffer, Aaron Graber, & David Ropp, ice skate. Martha Yoder, Prudence Yoder (sister) came to pay the Miller’s a visit. Annie, Tim Miller (brother), & Mose Miller (Daed), offered to fix them supper. Annie was going to stay with the Yoder’s for a while. It was 4:30 AM when they woke her for breakfast. Aaron, & David were going to take Annie hunting over at Matthew Beiler’s farm. They got 8 rabbits.
Hezekiah Lapp (15) went to Miller’s Store to deliver Emma’s baked goods. Daniel Gingerich (employee) was anxious to sell the hot items. Daniel was teaching Annie how to order sales items online. Unfortunately, she made a huge mistake. 5 Nubian goats = $3,275. I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one. All thoughts & opinions are entirely my own. A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written Amish book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great Amish movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. A very easy rating of 5 stars.
