It was in 2010, when Chris began role playing online as a hobby, that writing wormed its way back into the picture. This time, writing storylines for the role playing group.
The ideas and plots created for the game awoke the inner writer and a few months later, together with partner in crime C. Aubrey, began writing erotic romance.
Now, still together, they have written a number of short stories and novel. They are currently working on book three of their series as well as several short stories. Through it all they have continued to enjoy role playing through their favorite characters.

Holy cow, these are three hot books. Countermeasure: Bytes of Life Volume I holds the stories Ecstasy by the Sea, Cuffed at Midnight and Passion at Dawn, all by Chris Almeida and Cecilia Aubrey. These hot, passionate,steamy and wonderful books are short stories about the main characters Trevor and Cassandra from the first book in the Countermeasure series titled Countermeasure. We get a glimpse into life with Trevor and Cassandra and how marriage is treating them. While the full length novels are categorized as romantic suspense in this series, the Bytes of Life are more contemporary / erotic romance (so far at least). I think you need to read Countermeasure before these three shorts because they won’t mean a lot to you without that background and history.
The thing I love most about all three of these stories is that we get to follow characters I wasn’t ready to let go of from Countermeasure. We experience Trevor and Cassie’s ups and downs as newlyweds as well as how the passion between the two of them continues to grow. When they are not out hunting down hired assassins, they are spending time at home figuring out what to do with their new life in Ireland and what drives each other wild. We also get to witness common insecurities from newlyweds and how they conquer them.
Chris and Cecilia know how to write hot and sexy stories. The cover of this volume fits each story exactly. The intimate scenes are very well written. The scenes and interactions between Trevor and Cassie are very respectful and sweet yet so steamy and passionate. There is no crude language (except Cassie has a way of making Trevor say the f-word when she has pushed him to his limits in a good way) or anything that makes you feel awkward. It is all very romantic and typical in that can’t-keep-your-hands-off-one-another stage of marriage. I think the stories also remind those that have been together for a long time that intimacy is a big part of a marriage and it is never to late to try new things.
There are other bits and pieces of Trevor and Cassie’s life we experience in these stories that I am curious about and wondering how it will turn out in the next full length novel. Some of those things revolve around Trevor and Cassie’s relationship with her father Robert and former colleague Nathan. They definitely leave you wanting more of the series. I highly recommend these short stories to anyone that has read the Countermeasure series and would like to see what Trevor and Cassandra are up to when they are not running for their lives or fighting the bad guys.

Countermeasure: Bytes of Life Volume I (Countermeasure Bytes of Life)

If Countermeasure is the meat of the Countermeasure Series, these Bytes of Life are… well, more meat! It’s like the Surf ‘n Turf of the book buffet world. Often when there are novellas to accompany the more robust novels in a series, they are used as a crutch and don’t feel well thought out. Honestly, most of the time I think they are used as filler. Bytes of Life hold their own. While they have a different feel than the novels (I’ve only read Countermeasure when it comes to the full length novels of the series), these are more about the domestic life that follows the wedding, with little hints at later plots. Pure talented genius in my opinion. It is refreshing.
And as much as it is refreshing, it is also thigh clenching-ly hot! I read a lot of books with sex, and a lot of books with hot sex. So what made this different? First of all, when I stood up my legs actually gave out a little. Yeah, the love scenes literally made me weak in the knees! THAT, right there, is doing something right. Secondly, I can’t help but think that having a male and female team/duo write love scenes just gives it something… more. The experience is more fleshed out and cohesive than the norm.
Warning: Read while sitting down and be in no hurry to get up, or risk falling.
I said it in my last review for the series, and you might get tired of reading it, but I’ll say it again; Chris Almeida and Cecilia Aubrey are prime examples of all that is right in the indie world. Well thought out, refreshing, hot, but most of all, humble.

Combining the 3 `shorts' that serve as filler between the main stories of Countermeasure and To Russia With Love, this anthology is NOT to be missed for fans of the Countermeasure series. Taking Ecstasy by the Sea, Cuffed at Midnight and Passion at Dawn, these shorts provide a peek into the life of Trevor and Cassie as they are between assignments and working out their own personal dynamic as a couple.
This anthology is most definitely an 18+ read, for they are lavishly and lustily peppered with erotic scenes, yet the actual “sex” doesn’t leave the reader feeling like a complete voyeur – but hopeful that the connection, the emotion, genuine passion and palpable emotions that interlock Cass and Trev could someday be yours. These shorts both demonstrate genuine affection and set a new precedent for character development that fully integrates the entire being into the story. The obvious caring and emotion that resides in every action and the delight in pleasuring one another throughout the stories is evident to the reader, and the bits of insight into the characters quiet moments when not on assignment are both good fillers while waiting for the next instalment but will give readers and fans of the series a bit more insight into all the characters, which will increase the enjoyment of the series as a whole.

This anthology contains three short stories that take place in between the first full length novel, Countermeasure and the second, To Russia with Love. These short stories pickup right after Trevor and Cassandra's wedding and progress through their first six months as newlyweds. This anthology provides a nice inside view of Trevor and Cassandra's new life in Ireland and how they are happily married, yet they are both still haunted by the past and worried for their future. Fans of Countermeasure will want to read this anthology. These stories are not full of suspense, but they are full of romantic trysts. Recommended for mature audiences that have read Countermeasure first.
This series is amazing! I cannot wait to begin reading the next novel. This series as a whole, so far, has it all: suspense, action, intrigue and romance. Definitely a must-read series.

Great additions
Luved these 3 short lifestyle stories. Let's u get to know the characters and how they are day to day. It continues there journey from the USA to there new home in Ireland. Helps cement the relationship u develop with them both. Hot and steamy. Absolutely think they are vital to knowing them b4 u continue with their story.
