The Book Junkie Reads . . .
Much has changed and there are other things on this rising that has never before been there. TEMPTATION with fiery hair and explosive blood, Cat could be the undoing of this lord in more ways than he, Navarre, could have imagined. Who will be doing the surrendering? Survival for them both was at stake. This was a direction for the series that keeps pace with the previous reads. It gives and takes. It adds and replenishes the series with more direction and adventure. I found Cat to be worth her w ...more

I greatly enjoyed this book! Being a highly anticipated pairing - that of Cat and Navarre - I had high expectations of the author, and boy, did she deliver! It was action-packed, suspenseful, and full of sweet love between two broken characters. I loved the strength in both of them and how their love for each other persevered through the darkest of times.

Cat is an enigma in Balinese, an underground city of vampires. In a population of dark-haired people, Cat's red hair and equally fiery disposit

i hadn't read the cities below series before beneath the night, so i wasn't too bothered by all the exposition. though there was a lot of it. maybe this stuff wasn't covered in previous books, i don't know. but there was a moment i was like, i'm 25% into this book, when will things start happening. and okay, stuff had happened, but this is a paranormal romance. the two leads hadn't met until that moment. i am impatient.

once they meet navarre and cat are intimately connected. mainly because she's

I liked that Navarre found Cat amusing at times, “always have.” She looked at her upper thigh and groaned her disappointment. “Damn it, I liked these pants.” Navarre smiled. His woman was in a huff over ruined leather pants." I really did find Navarre really sexy, "Navarre pulled away, and when he spoke, his voice was harsh with need. “Kiss me again, and you’re saying yes. To everything. To me.” I enjoyed this, I loved the characters. ...more

I received a copy of this book from Netgally. This is my honest review.
A good addition to the series. However, I was disappointed by how poorly fleshed out the Cat character was in the book. After a 7 yr! Build up of having her pop up, have greater strength, different color hair, possible "tainted' lineage, her entire story was glossed over. You received very little insight into who she is,Yyou know she is half-vampire, her father is a nut-piece vampire who has been living in the city for years-

Devlin didn’t believe in peace. Devlon didn’t believe in it’s existence. Balinese was a vast underground city of Vampires. Devlin felt a low energy in the air sent his senses in high alert. Then Keir dropped out of his invisible spirit form at Devlin’s side. Devlin told Keir to report and he said he gave Devlin the same answer every night for the last seven years nothing to report. Devlin said one day your answer will change and then everything will change. Once the gift of walking in spirit was ...more

Beneath the Night is the third book in the The Cities Below series and each book focus on different vampires and as such can be read as a standalone. I don’t feel that my enjoyment was hindered by not reading the earlier books.

I found Beneath the Night to be quite clean for a vampire romance. A lot of adult vampire romances lean towards smut. Now I’m not bagging out vampire smut, I’ve read and loved a fair bit of it in my time, but I don’t want to be reading it all the time – it was a nice surpr

This is my review for Beneath the Night by Jen Colly. I received this ebook from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own. The beginning of this review does not contain spoilers and I will indicate when spoilers come in.

This novel tells the story of Navarre, a vampire who rules the city of Balinese. However, he entered a deep sleep for several years due to injury and a vampire named Savard is ruling the city in his place. The story begins with N

Lots of answers in the action packed, third book in the series. Navarre wakes up to find things have changed quite a bit during his sleep, including a new addition to the city. We get a bit more romance in this one as Navarre and Cat work closely together while he pursues her. We also finally get the answer about who is behind all the demon attacks, and while I saw that one coming, it didn't take away from the suspense and intrigue of this book. The story is fast paced and loaded with action as ...more

Sissy's Romance Book Review
'Beneath the Night' by Jen Colly is book three in the "The Cities Below" series. This is the story of Navarre and Cat. I have read the previous book but feel this is easily a standalone book.
Navarre has been 'asleep' for over 6 years. This sleep was to help him to recover from an injury but had yet awaken. When he senses Cat near his body starts to wake up. Navarre body and mind is telling him that Cat is his mate....his other half.
Cat was a loner and a fighter of demons until she taken on the

This was another great book in this series. I was so looking forward to Navarre finally finding his mate and Cat seems like a pretty good match for him. I can't really say they were a great couple though because most of the time we see them together one or both of them are always fighting someone. So it's hard to say how much they have in common or not, but they did get along quite well in their down times. Overall though, I really liked their characters. I've loved Navarre since book o

Jen Colly is the rare case of an author who rebelled against reading assignments throughout her school years. Now she prefers reading books in a series, which has led her to writing her first paranormal romance series The Cities Below. She will write about anything that catches her fancy, though truth be told, her weaknesses are pirates and vampires. She lives in Ohio with her supportive husband, ...more
