Cheater is my first book by Kelly Collins and what an amazing read this book. It was a short and light read which I enjoyed so much. I do not normslly read books like this and to my surprise I really loved this story. It was touching and heartfelt. This book really touched my heart.

Cheater is about Alec an American male gymnist who is preparing for Rio Olympics and struggles after getting so much heartache. He meets Collete, a Canadian gymnist who heals his heart. I loved the essence of this sto

Such a sweet and moving story! I was on a bus trip reading it and had to put it down because I kept tearing up! You couldn't help but just feel for Alex...he's getting ready to perform on the biggest stage of the world while dealing with so much heartache. Just as things start to get overwhelming Collette shows up right when he needs her and lends him her strength and support.
I just really enjoyed this little story so much!

What an amazing read from Kelly Collins! It's a short story with the summer Olympics as a backdrop.
Alec is a young gymnast competing for the first time, all around nice guy and while training at home in Colorado also takes care of his Mom who is in the end stages of cancer. He is an only child, apple of his Mum's eye and along with a supportive Father. But it's the relationship with the Mother that sets this book apart. She is his biggest cheerleader and he does carry her with him, his reluctanc

Strength, determination, practice, skill and heart are needed when competing in the Olympics. Alec Maes has them all BUT he also has a mother dying of cancer who wants him to do his best while at The Games. Finding his center and grounding himself is not easy but when Collette Lamont, a Canadian gymnast, comes into his life it makes a huge and very positive difference…for both of them.

I loved this book. The characters were well developed and the likable ones delightful while the not so likable

Favorite Quotes:

You aren't the girl for me. How could you be when you're the girl for everyone?

Yes, well, your mom's a smart woman. She informed me thirty years ago that she was good for me, and I've trusted her instincts ever since.

Losing your mom will be like losing my heart, but I would have never had one without her.

My Review:

Cheater was not what I was expecting, it was much sweeter - but it was somewhat bittersweet due to a devastating illness and loss. The story was engaging, emotive, rele

Cheater is a quick read novella that is both heartbreaking and heart warming at the same time. Based around the Rio olympics, it's about an American male gymnast, Alec, and a female Canadian gymnast, Colette. They find each other at just the right me in their lives as Alec is experiencing great heartbreak. I loved how the title had so many meanings but I won't spoil it by telling you. This is a read that will break your heart and put it back together one page at a time. You won't want to put it ...more

I received this book in exchange for my honest review. This does not affect my opinion of this book or the content of this review.

Alec is going through his mom's end stage cancer and the fact that she will be gone any day. He also has what he thinks is the world's best girlfriend. He is also a very talented gymnast. Seems two good things and one not good thing, right? He is very open with his girlfriend about how he feels about her, however telling her feelings to him are not given. She likes to

I received Cheater in return for an honest review from the author. Alec has spent his whole life training to win the gold and this time he may just win. However, things at home have taken a spin for the worse as his mother slowly fades away with cancer. She wants him to go to win for her, even though he doesn’t want to go he accepts he has to. The night before he is due to arrive in Rio his mom tells him to arrive early surprising his team but little did he know he would be the one with the surp ...more

> Book Review - Cheater, A Summer Games Short Read -

>I am a reviewer for Blood, Sweat, & Tears R&R group. This book is a standalone short story with an HEA. The love story is a typical one. Boy discovers his girl cheating and finds true love with his soul mate. What makes this story interesting is the setting. The characters are summer Olympians in Rio, specifically gymnasts. Not knowing much about gymnastics, the prep and amount of talent needed to excel on all the different pieces of equipmen

This book is a little different from Kelly's normal books.
Alec is in the male Gymnastics team for the USA and his girlfriend
They were getting ready to go to Rio games. Alec was staying home for a few
more day's than the rest of the team because his mother is very sick.
The night before the team went Alec asked Bryn to come over but she told him
she and Wade were having a meeting to get the teams in the right frame of mind.
Alec got to the games the day before Bryn thought he would.

I was gifted this book in return for an honest review.
This is Alec and Collette's story or Grumpy and Snow (read the book and find out why)!

The book is set in the Gymnastics world of the Up coming Rio Olympics, and right there, before it went any further I was hooked.....

Alec and Collette's story is a novella and as such I read it within a couple of hours, it was a fast moving, hot, and refreshingly topical book, I really enjoyed it. As a "middle aged" lady I usually steer clear of "younger" rom

Alec's mom is dying but with his girlfriend, gymnast Bryn Carlysle already there he is headed off, hoping his mom will last while he is gone. But nothing prepares him for Rio and the doubt within himself until he meets Canadian gymnast Collette Lamont.

If you love gymnastics and the Olympics this is an amazing short novella giving characters nick names like Snow and Grumpy. The story keeps to the point and really shows a development from the main character Alec dealing with cancer killing his mother and finding out the person who he thought he loved, Bryn. She destroyed everything for her own desires. Alec finds Collette, while in Rio and the 2016 Olympics, an individual who supports and completes him giv

When I started reading this story line I was sad to read about his mum but reading and seeing in my mind how close their family is to each other made me happy.

Lucky In Rio by Kelly Collins is a novella set during the Olympics in Rio 2016. It's an interesting concept and I haven't really read any other books set during the Games.

Alec is a gymnast from Team USA and going to his first Olympics Games. His mom is dying from cancer and he thought he could escape it all when he's with his girlfriend Bryn. But things changed when he set foot in Rio. After catching Bryn cheating on him, he decided to concentrate on his own routine. That's when he met Collette,

Beautiful short story: heading to Summer Olympic Games, Alec is leaving behind his mom who is dying from cancer, but she wants him to go. His girlfriend also a gymnast, is unfaithful, with all the emotional stuff going on with his mom, just difficult to take. Cheater is what I have to expect from Kelly Collins. Heartbreaking, complicated and beautiful. My one criticism is that it may have been too short. Alec seems like the golden boy to the world but he struggles with the pain caused by his mother's illness, the insecurity of not being good enough at a sport he loves and what the right choice is when dealing with an impending loss. What's so interesting about Cheater is that the reader gets a up close look at the life of an athlete (the good, the ba ...more

I recently joined an ARC review group & this was one of the books on the list. Honestly if it wasn't for belonging to this group I would have never considered reading it, mainly because I'm not a sports lover & the Olympic Games don't appeal to my romantic side.

I have to say that I'm very glad I gave it a chance. Turns out you don't have to be a sports fan to appreciate this book. Makes me rethink a lot of the books I've skipped over.

If you enjoy short reads & are a sucker for any romance I gu

This is a sweet novella about two Olympic athletes, Alec and Colette, at the summer games in Rio.
Justin is just plain sweet. His concern for his mom who was battling cancer was inspiring.
Going to the Olympics, he thought Bryn was the girl for him. Arriving at the Olympics, he learned that she wasn't.
Enter Colette. She's a girl with goals and interesting training methods for Alec. You'll need to read the book to learn what they are!
Their relationship is built on friendship and trust .

Heartfelt story!

Alec's chance at the Olympics occurs at the same time as his mother's illness worsens. His girlfriend shows her true colors when he arrives in Rio and he meets Canadian gymnast Collette. This is a wonderful story full of real life issues. Alec is a strong young man who has been nurtured by his mother to be positive and optimistic. Collette is a mature young woman who is very good for Alec. The novella is short but the emotions are real and the romance between Alec and Collette ha

This is a beautiful, wonderful story. This is a must read. You would think that a book about a young athlete whose mother is dying of cancer would be so sad and depressing, but this book is the exact opposite, it is one of the most uplifting books I have ever read. The love that Alec has for his mother, and all the encouraging things that she has told him is just the beginning. Then when he meets Collette at the Olympics, and she is exactly what he needs. It is a short book, but is one that you ...more

“I’m Collette Lamont, and I’m good for you.”

What a sweet love story!! I loved Alec and Collette, they were awesome together, Collette was so sensible, she really wanted what was best for Alec, she was selfless and loving. She wasn't an easy girl and that was great, I didn´t like Bryn at all. I was happy when Alec met Collette and they started to call themself Snow and Grumpy.

Its a bittersweet story because Alec's mom so sick. But he will make her proud!

Cute story. It is a novella, so it won't take much of your time to read. Whew!!! Who knew the Olympics were so hot? The storyline kept you engaged. There were different emotions in this book. I loved Collette. She's a breath of fresh air. I loved the relationship that Alec has with his mom. This story is told through Alec's point of view. No cliffhanger.

I cried my breaking heart out over this one. Alec's developing relationship with Collette is so sweet and inspiring but his mother's battle with cancer is a devastating backdrop to the story. I loved watching Alec beat down every obstacle in his way especially the ones in his own head. Collette is simply perfect for him, designed to be his in all ways. He needs her and they both know it.

A novella that was a quick read and had lots of emotions as Alec and his gymnastics team go to Rio to compete in the games for the United States. There were a lot of story lines and I liked Alec and Colette but could have done without all the sexcapades that seemed to be the main focus especially with his ex-girlfriend, Bryn. Alec was focused on the games and his mom who is dying of cancer but wanted him to reach for the gold for him and for her.

Quite a few twists and turns to the story. I love
