Procedendo nella lettura si disegnano nella mente i contorni dei corpi e dei vestiti indossati dalle donne di epoche differenti, cui si accompagnava la copertura del capo come pure, talora, del volto.

Very interesting read on the history of the veil and its symbolism in Christianity and particularly in Italy, with a focus on the Middle Ages. Many of those who immediately associate the veil with Islam and with submission should read this or similar works that reveal the long history that Christianity and "the West" have with the veil and other such accessories. Très intéressant, écriture académique, étude rigoureuse et scientifique (sources, citations etc.)
j'ai trouvé particulièrement intéressantes les chapitres sur l'industrie du voile (et la place des femmes dans celle-ci) et sur les temps plus récents.
