Does God have a plan for us all? I don't know. But Nathan Bush thinks so. He winds a twisty well-crafted tale around his beliefs.

I found the multiple points of view difficult to begin with, but once I got used to them they built the tension even further.

An engrossing read.

Wow Mind Blown and that's all I am saying so as not to give away anything. While this book says the genre is Christian/Crime I would say it is lighter on the Christian and deeper into the crime. Written with a neat and unique perspective - from a few points of view - it constantly keeps you guessing and trying to figure out not only the crimes but the main characters. The title includes the sub of Foley Chronicles and I really cannot wait to read the next one. I found myself easily vested into ...more

MY THOUGHTS
This author did an amazing job of putting out this book, written in first person which is given by two different people. Not an easy task for a writer. As you turn the pages, as a good book should, it keeps you wondering. Mr. Bush brings us authentic characters. They are everyday people with everyday lives. Not characters that are glossed over, like icing on the cake. I did find the pace to be rather slow, but to me, that was refreshing. It gave me time to take in the characters and

White male, fiftyish, GSW to the back of the head, close range; white female, 20 s to 30 s, multiple stab wounds to chest and neck area.

Alabama author Nathan Bush writes Christian Crime series, of which this is Book 1 WRITTEN IN BLOOD. Nathan has lived in several US states, but has called Alabama his home for the past 20 years, after leaving the Army to pursue other duties. According to notes from Nathan, he found the Lord in 2001 after spending the first 32 years of his life fruitlessly

Thrilling crime read!

Very fast paced, unpredictable, clean crime fiction.
None of the extreme violence or unnecessary profanities typical of the crime genre.
Intensely powerful character voices just jump off the pages, desperate to tell their story.

John and Ken are both such versatile great 3D characters.
No cardboard cut outs of "good/bad cop".
John has an almost paternal air about him and his faith adds to this element.
Ken is a fascinating and complex character.

Brilliant writing from Nathan

I was treated to a digital copy for an honest review of this book. The author appears to be self published so there are a few hiccups along the way with grammar but the story sucks you in enough that you don't notice them. The character and world building of the story sucked me in. I had planned on reading a little bit before bed and wound up staying up late into the night to read through the story.

I am always a big fan of stories told from alternate points of view. Occasionally, I had to check

First of all, I would like to note that the reason this book is only 4 stars for me is because I was a little queasy at the graphic descriptions at the murder scenes. Purely a personal preference. I can't stomach that kind of thing too well.

However, I very much enjoyed reading this book. I am not a person to read police drama, but I LOVE psychological thrillers! And, if you know me, then you know that the most important element in any work of fiction is character development. The character of

STORY LINE WRITTEN IN BLOOD:

Author Nathan Bush created a intensely driven and emotional story in his mystery crime novel, Written In Blood. Ken Collin's probationary period has ended. Now a full pledged Detective with the Foley PD and still partnered with seasoned Detective John Filcher, he should have life by

Gripping read

Excellent plot and characters that were well textured; however, it felt strange to read about a detective with my exact name (John Filcher).

The general idea for this book could have been interesting, but I knew who the killer was about 25 pages in. As you can guess, this pretty much sealed a low rating. This book is meant to be a psychological mystery, but non of it was a mystery. I'm not a reader who actively tries to figure out what is going on, I like to ride the wave of a book and just enjoy the ride. But it was extremely obvious to me from the get go who the killer was, and that was kind of disappointing.

The writing wasn't

A spectacular example of crime genre fiction!
Written in Blood is a stunningly dark crime novel, with a fascinating plot and characters with a larger than life presence.

Compelling characters accompany superb intriguing writing, filled with shocking twists & turns.
Brilliantly vivid narrative, spellbinding dialogue and flawless pacing.
One of the creepiest, most suspenseful atmospheres I have encountered yet- most pages had Ken and John breathing air thick with tension; immersing the reader

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I read the Prologue again after I read the book and realized it is a succinct summary of the book. I will not summarize the book because I cant possibly write a better summary than the author. If you dont like the Prologue, you will not like the book. I like the Prologue and enjoyed the book very much.

I found it interesting that the name of the character speaking (Ken or Eddie) was at the top of the page in each chapter. I became

This was an interesting read, a different approach all together. The three POVs and the not very likeable main character Ken don't make it easy to get into the story, but the question who is Eddie and the fantastic character John kept me reading.
Cruel crimes, a sweet little love story, talk about God and his salvation and mental desease form a story as I haven't read one before.
5 * for plot and characters
3 * for writing

Nathan's freshman effort went well, the story is great. "Written" is a first person tale presented from two different persons with a narrator overtone, which is difficult to pull off. He accomplished this feat with aplomb.

The grammar and spelling are rough, Nathan is a self-published author on a tight budget like many of us, but not so terrible as to draw you away from the story.

The story keeps you wondering what will happen next. Keeping a reader guessing is always a good thing.

This was a great read!
I really admire the author for his originality and courage. The story is written with 3 POV's which admittedly was a little awkward at first - but took very little time for me to get accustomed to. In the end, I think the multiple POV's actually added to the experience. Also, the author took a stand on concept that I think could be very controversial to some.
I would definitely recommend this!

Written in Blood was, overall, a good story. I enjoyed the concept, and while I won't spoil the story for you you will likely figure it out before the author wants you to.

That was one of my two problems with the story. The author unfortunately missed the mark on making this a mystery. The twist was quite clear very early on and I would have appreciated more insight into John's investigatory skills uncovering the real perpetrator. In the same vein, I would have loved it if the author completely

Nathan is a God-fearing husband to a wonderful wife and father to 5 great kids (ages 27, 25, 23, 21, 3), former SS school teacher and Youth Leader.

He loves to read (when time permits - which is rarely) and write. He has published the first three books in his series, The Foley Chronicles: Files from the 8th District, and is working on book four. He also has the first short story for his second
