Abandoned. Hunted. Out of control.

Gethyon Rees had always felt at odds with the universe, and hoped for an escape among the stars. But discovering he has the ability to cross time and space with just a thought brings more problems than it solves: a deadly bounty hunter who can follow him anywhere, the unwelcome return of Tarquin Secker--the mother who abandoned him--and an

Gethyon gets an unreserved five stars from me. If I'd had the time to read it in one sitting, I would have done so for sure.

Jay introduces us to Quin's twin children, Gethyon and Callon, but in particular Gethyon. Inheriting psi-talents from his father, the Eidar Darion, Gethyon is in danger from the Siah-dhu, a dark entity that preys on his kind. For this reason, Quin leaves Gethyon and Callon with their human grandfather so that she can distract the Siah-dhu from their presence.

I'm not normally a reader of Young Adult fiction, even science fiction. I often find it to be shallow, written with the voice of a ten-year-old and lacking any real story or characters that interest me. However, when Pippa Jay released Gethyon, I knew I had to at least give it a try. I have read other works by Pippa Jay, including Keir. Gethyon is in the same universe and follows within the same storyline of Keir, though Keir was written for an adult audience. I must admit that I could be consid ...more

A nice amalgamation of science fiction and fantasy, "Gethyon" has enough of each to satisfy the SF, F, and even SFR readers.

Gethyon and his twin sister, Callon, live with their grandfather because their father is dead, and their mother abandoned them. The story opens showing Gethyon's poor anger management problems. This boy is pissed off all the time. He's angry at his father for dying and his mother for abandoning him and his sister. Understandable, but Callon seems to have adapted better than

Gethyon is one of my most eagerly anticipated reads of the year. As soon as Amazon had it for sale, I snagged my copy, dropped everything, cleared my schedule and read it from beginning to end.

Gethyon is the sequel to Pippa Jay's first novel, Keir, which I LOVED! The author is a shining star in a new wave of science fiction authors. Her effortless grasp of language and story structure takes you down a web of adventure, peril, budding romance and thrills.

The title character is a young man torture

**I was given this book in exchange for an honest review**

It is very unusual to find what I consider to be a true science fiction book in the YA genre. Too often they switch way over into the fantasy realm for reasons that I can only assume are to make them more palatable to younger audiences. Pippa Jay does not make this mistake. She has created a great YA sci fi book that most adult sci fi readers would enjoy. I know I did. Although the protagonist is a teenage boy the issues that he has to de

This was a phenomenal Sci-Fi read!! We follow Gethyon through his youth with his grandfather, his struggles trying to fit in, and the intense anger that is always present inside of him. He doesn't understand why he doesn't fit in and why it is so hard for him to become close to others. He is sensitive to everyone's thoughts and emotions which drives him to keep people at bay, especially one of the boys at school who hates him. He is the opposite of Gethyon, but sadly has his sister's affections, ...more

Having read Pippa Jay's first novel Keir, I knew whatever else I read from her would be fantastic. I wasn't wrong. Gethyon, set in the same world as Keir, along with one key character from the first novel, is an all too short (it seemed) story that moved along with engrossing adventure, action, and some characters you just can't get enough of. The world that Pippa Jay created for her story and characters is simply incredible, and the casual way planets and cities are just mentioned makes this wo ...more

Gethyon rocks! This fast-paced, gripping ride zips through time and space, love and loss, rebellion and acceptance. Set in the world of Keir (which you don't need to read to understand this story) it shows us another side of Quin. This is the story of her son, Gethyon. It's a coming of age story that I didn't even realize was YA.

It's a well-written page-turner.

Pippa Jay scores again!

I have not read the previous book in this series, but I was instantly swept into the story. Great read.

Great read. I love a book with psi, there aren't many out there. Her's is a bit different then mine, but fun stuff!

This book is fast paced and quickly takes the reader through the story. I found Pippa Jay's talent for crafting a sentence exquisite and can't recall many books with such acute detail.

After spending twelve years working as an Analytical Chemist in a Metals and Minerals laboratory, Pippa Jay is now a stay-at-home mum who writes scifi and supernatural stories to engage the emotions. Somewhere along the way a touch of romance crept into her work and refused to leave. In between torturing her plethora of characters, she spends the odd free moment looking after her chickens, creatin ...more
