Just out of luck, I had finished reading the story of Pat Tillman by Jon Krakauer prior to reading Guantanamo Diary. Krakauer took considerable time and effort to research pre-9/11 events in such detail that gave me a great backdrop and historical reference that I might not have had leading into this book by Slahi.

Though English was his 4th language, the diary of Slahi was a fascinating read leaving me flooded with a variety of emotions: doubt, anger, sadness, pity, curiosity, confusion, and mor

I listened to the audio book and while I believe MOS was and probably still is imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay Cuba and that he was probably tortured I am still skeptical about many things in the "book".

I cannot recommend this as a read or listen. It was not what I expected.

Difficult for me to finish, heartbreaking storyline. There are some good plot points though.
