Probably nothing I will ever read cover to cover, but a beautiful book and a great reference when doing other travel-related reading,* and want to understand the difference between (as random example) the Bororo and the Fulani (both of the Sahel), the Gallong and the Apatani (both of India's northeast Arunachal Pradesh), or the Long-Horned, Small Flowers, Pointed Hat, Silver, Black or myriad other Miao of Southeast Asia!





Only possible criticism is, the text point size could have been a LITTLE bigger…

* Ah, and just two weeks later this has already come in most handy, as it features a nice section on the Tuareg, who figure very prominently in Desmond Bagley's 1979 Sahara-set thriller Flyaway, which I also just finished.

This book is so INCREDIBLE. Big, Beautiful Coffee table book of color photographs and introductions to each section of different Ethnic groups from around the world. Some well known and others virtually unheard of. Sections are divided by Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania, Amercia and the Arctic. The images are stunning while the text lends itself to better understanding the vast array of cultures captured in this book. I feel lucky to have found this used, since it weighs a ton I can't imagine how much it was new. One of my favorite books that I own, I spend lots of rainy days looking at it and dreaming of far away lands.
