This graphic nonfiction book explains what fractions are and how they are used. Building Blocks of Mathematics features quirky characters who introduce and demostrate critical basic mathematics concepts. This fun and inventive series was designed in collaboration with elementary mathematics education experts.
Very basic. If you've got a kid who just isn't catching on even though you give him cardboard and scissors, or if you don't have cardboard and scissors, I suppose you could use this. But it ends with a few examples of easy equivalent fractions like 1/3 and 2/6. It does have an extensive 'further reading' page and I bet something from there would be more worthwhile for most families.
