Great read!!! Took this book on my vacation and once I started it I couldn't put it down. Storyline was addicting. If you like romance this book is a must!! Can't wait to read the sequel!

Actress & singer, Sam Davis leads a seemingly fairytale life but her reality is far from perfect. Everything I Believed is a story of loss, trust and love. Written with heart the story tackles sensitive issues with dignity and respect, and it deserves a space on your reading list for the New Year!

(A few small spoilers) This book was won during a Good Reads promotion. I think for a first time writer, this was a good book. I feel like the book was meant to be longer. Not quite "I'm waiting for a sequel so let's keep it a certain length", but this particular book was meant to be longer. The beginning felt rushed. I feel like she knew these characters and knew what they were feeling and what the basics were, but didn't share it with us. It's like a movie, where you've read the book. The (A few small spoilers) This book was won during a Good Reads promotion. I think for a first time writer, this was a good book. I feel like the book was meant to be longer. Not quite "I'm waiting for a sequel so let's keep it a certain length", but this particular book was meant to be longer. The beginning felt rushed. I feel like she knew these characters and knew what they were feeling and what the basics were, but didn't share it with us. It's like a movie, where you've read the book. The movie still gives you the beginning and you know what's going on, but there are things left out. I don't know if this was an editorial issue.

She is very good at details in the right places, and just enough. The middle slowed down and you were able to get more into a book world vibe. I had a few things that pulled me out of the story in the beginning and the ( again) rushed end.

When 2 people talked to each other, 95 percent of the time they said the others name. Even when they were alone. Even during a conversation. Sometimes the whole conversation. It got a little better in the middle where I felt the writer really was in her groove. There were "baby" and things like that added and names just dropped in alone conversations, but the issue popped up again towards the end third of the book.

I am a person that can read a religious book, non-religious book, sexual, or non sexual and get just as much enjoyment out of each if the story is good. This one kind of mixed them all together, which for the most part was ok.

I rolled my eyes several times during the "oh I'm 20 and never dated, never been kissed, and never had sex" parts. Realistically, these are (at least) minor celebrities, so this is a little far fetched. I had a believable feeling when the main male said it was due to his religion, but both of them? Towards the middle she had a paragraph that somewhat explained it, and loosely made sense with being pulled out of school, tutors, etc. but that was after I rolled my eyes several times and said "really?" out loud. Maybe if that paragraph was a little earlier, I wouldn't have scoffed so much.

If religion is a big part of the book, which I felt it was because of the couple's interactions, I'd like to know a little more. I'm not catholic, so I really am not familiar with its.....rules, maybe? She learned "this". Well, what did she learn?

The couple's sexual/non sexual/ read to find out relations were on the money. Not too much, not too little, details which I have to say is a good balance. A lot of even the big named writers could learn from that balance. The book was from the main female's perspective, for the most part. In the middle it switched to an alternation of her and her best friend. It was an abrupt change and I didn't really feel like it was necessary (unless, of course, the sequel will be mostly about the best friend). I felt it was more just to add the completion of sex into the book. I thought the other stood on its own. Having said that, going through those things with the couple throughout the book I felt jipped at the end when there was nothing discussed after the marriage. I guess it was part of the rushed end, like a movie, skip to credits.

I felt a lot of repetition in the couple's conversations where everything gets misconstrued, and it leads to the anger or hurt feelings, or "oh he tensed and I feel guilty" "oh the hurt look on his face". There was a good bit of that. I huffed and eye rolled at that too.

The last issue is that there were things in the book that weren't followed through on. There were conversations with the body guard about apartment layouts and money that seemed to have a back story, or an importance, but it was just left open. His mother had things she knew about her mother, but what? There was no feeling of completion of those things. It was almost like they were forgotten.

The characters were relatable, even though they were "celebrities". The writer described each and drew you in enough for you to be interested in these people and care about what happens to them. The story itself is quite good enough to make me want to read the sequel (even though I am not usually a read a book with a sequel or series. I feel they are over done today.) You could see the authors world, and mostly be drawn into it.

Overall, this was a good read and I recommend it. I really wish she had fleshed out more of the things I mentioned before. The book would have been so much better if she had slowed down a little and let us into that world a little more. She clearly had these things in her head, and she could see them herself. You could tell that from the way she wrote.

A book is its own destination. The author is our guide, and if they don't point things out to us, and tell us the little secrets along the way, we may miss wonderful things and our trip will not have been as great.

I look forward to seeing more from Jennifer Suzanne. She is obviously a very talented writer. I hope she sees this review, and knows that her book was enjoyed. Slow down, give us more. We want to hear it all. ...more

This is a great book, especially for a first time author. She introduced the characters at the onset and their story was easy to follow but with enough twists and turns to keep you interested. I anxiously await the sequel to see what else happens to Sam and Danny!! Please keep writing Jennifer!!
