When you first start reading this book you might think it is slow, but even, so it grabs your attention from the start. I love how it was based off real events that happened in the 1400's and how it talked about how people were healed with herbs back then. I loved all of the twists and turns, I also loved that what happened to Alice in the past happened to Kylah in the present exactly the same way. I liked how everyone in the present was someone from the past and tied in with the story of Alice,

Complete disclosure- this book starts off as a hot mess and I read about 12% before there was a plot, however, if you take a bit of time to get through this it will be well worth it by book's end. This was a complex, layered story about more than just past life and romance. It was a mystery, suspense and fact finding mission with a great deal of atmospheric prose and lush detail. I love paranormal books and I could see why people would love this book however I just really struggled to get into it.
I love to loose myself but found I just couldn't do in this book and that is the main thing I look for in a book.
However the characters where very well written and very believable and the basis of the book was good.
