This is Samantha Horwitz’ personal account of her 9/11 experience, of the day at ground zero and of her own recovery from PTSD and alcoholism. It is, in many ways, a moving personal account. It is not great literature. I suspect it’s more or less a transcript of the talks she gives as a motivational speaker.
I was not unmoved by her story. I believe it is important that these personal stories are told and not forgotten. I’ve no doubt that she provides a service with her talks and workshops. However, I was put off by the commercial overtones of this memoir.

Poignant moments in history remembered and the aftermath
In detail you may not find elsewhere, this former Secret Service agent tells of the heroism and personal toll taken as a first responder on September 11th, the rigorous training required for her role, and sadly, the inflexible organizational culture that led to her ultimately resigning in order to have a life and be in the same state as her spouse. I purchased this in wBook kindle version. Would love to see stories of other agents and look backs given the time passed if there is ever an update.
