Charmed, Texas... quaint, quirky, and when it comes to romance, there's no place quite as enchanting.

Lanie Barrett didn't mean to lie. Spinning a story of a joyous marriage to make a dying woman happy is forgivable, isn't it? Lanie thinks so, especially since her beloved Aunt Ruby would have been heartbroken to know the truth of her niece's sadly loveless, short-of-sparkli

Welcome to Charmed, Texas a picturesque town where you can find crazy townsfolk, possibly haunted houses, old flames, and new beginnings. Sharla Lovelace pens another wonderful small town romance filled with emotion and desire, quirky characters and fun twists.

When Lanie lied to her Aunt Ruby about having the job of her dreams and a husband to match it, her intentions were good. She didn’t want her dying aunt to worry about her. But after reading her aunt’s will she finds out her good i

Sharla Lovelace has the ‘small town romance’ story writing crown and I never want her to abdicate her well earned position. It can be hard to stand out in today’s romance story world, with hundreds of books being released each day but somehow she does just that. With her unique writing style and her ability to transport me to locations just by the words alone, where I can imagine everything she describes in wonderful detail, Sharla is a go to author for me.

According to her Aunt Ruby’s crazy will, Lanie needs to provide a valid marriage certificate (complete with husband) and they need to live together in her childhood home from three months in order to inherit. Enter Nick, the oh-so-hot fry cook suddenly in need of some cash. So Lanie and Nick end up in a fake marriage and tethered to each other for three months. Their romance was a slow steady burn, fueled by “fake” displays of affection, and heated encounters! But Nick and Lanie fell fo

I'm throwing in the towel at 70%. Yeah, the setup for this story is ludicrous and doesn't survive even cursory examination. I mean, Lanie's aunt is an insufferable jerk to pull this crap on Lanie and Lanie is a spineless idiot for her hijinks to game the stupid requirements set forth by Aunty Idiot. And I'll put up with that as part of my "give the book its premise" policy. Only then more stupid contrivances happen with people who dream one day of becoming caricatures, if only they can gain some ...more

I discovered Sharla Lovelace last year, with her Heart of the Storm series. I love her writing style. Which is why, when I saw that she had a new series with Lyrical Press, I jumped for the chance to request the advanced copy.

Lanie Barrett needs a husband. Stat. Apparently her deceased Aunt Ruby makes it a clause in her will that in order for Lanie to inherit the house and the money, Lanie needs to prove that she is blissfully married and must stay with her husband for thre

Why are you shouting you may ask? Well, I have been in a bit of a book slump but Sharla Lovelaces's A Charmed Little Lie has cured me - thank goodness! I am on a book high right now :)

Sharla is the Queen of Small Town Romance - she has given us a book with a little bit of everything - fun, wit, emotion, heartfelt conversations, and sexy chemistry.

Full review to come! I am IN LOVE with the start of this series and can't wait for more!!!

There were lots of cute things about this book and lots of humorous moments. I liked Laine and Nick together. There was just something missing for me, though. I thought some of the things Laine did were unrealistic - and I'm not even talking about the fake relationship part - and cringe-worthy. I liked it enough, though, that I would read more from this author. ...more

When Lanie Barrett is called back to Charmed, Texas for the reading of her beloved Aunt Ruby's will, she has a bit of a problem. She has to bring her husband and marriage certificate. The problem being they don't really exist. It was just a little lie to make a dying woman happy.

When the perfect solution appears unexpectedly, it seems like it will be easy. Nick McKane, a very recently unemployed man in need of money agrees to come with her and play her husband, she'll get her inheritance, and th

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley on the promise of an honest review.  Thank you!  The expected publication date is April 18th, 2017.

I had a really good time with this book.  I found it light, funny, and entertaining.  With this genre, it can sometimes feel repetitive if you read a lot within the genre (which I do) however this story still felt fresh to me which added to my enjoyment.

A Charmed Little Lie was the kind of book that made me set it down right in the middle and start shooting off notes to all my bookish friends because my feels could not be contained and the only thing that can be done in a situation like that is to shout from the hilltops - YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!.

Look, Sharla Lovelace is a new-to-me author. I picked this up with a sort of heavy skepticism. I don't even know what I was expecting. I do love small town romances and I do love fake romances - bu

A Charmed Little Lie by Sharla Lovelace
Charmed in Texas #1

This book kept me up till the wee hours of the morning. Why? I just could not put it down. I knew there would ultimately be a HEA BUT I had to know how it would come about. How would two people who married in a type of marriage of convenience that would garner them both something they wanted find their way to that HEA? What kind of place would Charmed, Texas be? Who might show up in future books of the series? Well, I read and read and re

A Charmed Little Lie charmed me right off. I loved Lanie. I loved that she loved her aunt and the home she provided. I loved that she was willing to do what it took to make her aunt’s last moments happy. Even if Aunt Ruth did not buy the lie. It was total fun watching Lanie and Nick getting to know each other while pretending to know each other. Charmed, Texas had its own quaint small town charm. I loved the characters that played secondary. I loved the closeness. I hated the closeness. It was w ...more

How did Lanie get to the point of asking a stranger to pretend to be her husband for the day, and the next being married to this stranger and agreeing to keep up the charade for three months? I am going to keep this short ad sweet just like A Charmed Little Lie 🙂

Sharla Lovelace delivers the perfect contemporary romance with just a little hint of magical realism thrown in. The small town setting was completely “Charming” as one would expect from a town named Charmed.

And the chemistry between Lanie and Nick was off the charts! I loved the interactions between the two and the slow build up over the course of the novel. This romance just left me feeling all gooey inside.

I'm a sucker for fake marriage plots so I knew I would love this one! I've only read one other Sharla Lovelace book and I loved it too so I definitely have to check out her other stuff!

Lanie was raised by her quirky aunt in a small town, when she grows up and moves away, she tells a little lie to her aunt and tells her that she is happily married in California. In reality she lives in Louisiana, she's single and she has somehow found herself the owner of a massive Rottweiler c

Lanie didn’t mean to spin herself into a corner; she just wanted to make her grandmother happy. But now Lanie will have to arrive in Charmed,TX with her husband in order to keep her inheritance. There’s just one problem: she isn’t really married.

Nick wasn’t having a very good day, and a quick way to earn a couple hundred extra dollars sounded like a good way to make the most of a bad situation.

They are complete strangers who have to act happily married. But what happens when the lines

At the beginning I loved the book, but as the story progressed I felt more and more that something was missing. A lot of somethings, actually. So that's how my rating went quickly downhill, too.

I feel like even after finishing the book, I didn't get to really know the characters at all. Like they existed in the background of the story, and I wasn't privy to their feelings for each other, their backgrounds or their personalities. Like I was watching everything from the sidelines.

4.5☆ - Standalone fake marriage of convenience / strangers to lovers romance in a small town

Sharla Lovelace does not disappoint with A Charmed Little Lie. Once again she has written a beautiful love story with all the feels. The most unexpected romance between Lanie and Nick, brought together out of pure desperation, trying to satisfy a beloved, yet quirky Aunt's will. And what is so damn wonderful is that despite this mutual arrangement, they can't help but fall for one another and we are lucky enough to have front row seats!

A really cute small town romance from a new to me author! This is the first book of Sharla Lovelace's that I am reading and it was a wonderful experience! The premise is not something that we haven't seen before, but the way it is written and the characters make it very interesting.

What a great start to a cute but still steamy and funny romance building story. I couldn't help but laugh at parts throughout, but I also cried due to the emotion in this story. Loved this small town romance. A little white lie that turns into true love. Lanie needs a husband and marriage certificate per her grandma's will or everything will go to her hungry cousins. She meets Nick at a diner, who is done on his luck and out of a job but is willing to become her stand in husband. Not expecting anything more, but soon the little lie becomes so much more.

Loved this small town with everything honey. Great characters with fun banter that will have you laughing out loud. I

ARC Review: A Charmed Little Lie (Charmed In Texas) by Sharla Lovelace

A little white lie magnifies in this heartwarming and witty escapade of hope, faith and charity. A good heart lead Lanie to ease a dying woman's fears. Desperation leads her into the arms of the perfect man. Can a bit of divine intervention give her the happy ending she's been dreaming of? Nick and Lanie prove that if something is meant to be, nothing can stop it from happening. A Charmed Little Lie puts a smile in the heart w

This was cute, hilarious, and fun. Since it featured a small town, and two people who marry in order for the heroine to inherit her childhood home, I knew I had to read it. I loved Nick, the hero. He cooked, was funny, and generally a good guy. He was protective of Lanie, the heroine, too. As for Lanie, I thought she was funny, a nice person, and...not very good with feelings. This had me mad at her at some points, but she learned what she needed. Oh, and I loved Aunt Ruby. That woman knew what ...more

A cute story about a girl who weaves a complex lie to ease her aunt's mind about her being sad and lonely as she is dying. Sort of a 2.5, more like? It was ok, but I didn't really like it enough. It was a very fast read and saved me from worrying about pandemics for a while.

Small-town romance + fake/pretend relationship (I'm mostly ambivalent about the former, the latter is kind of a favourite fanfic trope for me, tbh) with characters I couldn't relate to.
